60 years on from the glorious victory of the people and China is celebrating, and rightfully so. Tremendous advancements have been made, advancements that only socialism can deliver and there is much more to come. Once China is in a position to move from Communism With Chinese Characteristics to a purer Leninism, the world order will be washed away and China's victory will be a victory for us all.

China celebrates 60th anniversary / World / Home - Morning Star

Cuba celebrates too

Why are you still in Glasgow, again?

How exactly is China communist these days? They have private property, including large scale employers like shopping malls. They have even have laws set up for the creation of private corporations. China clearly moved into the camp of state capitalism during 2007 , and the command economy is a thing of the past.

China's economy is increasingly market-oriented. It was those reforms that made possible China's extraordinary growth. China is not likely to sacrifice its gains by returning to the Leninist centrally-planned economic model that predated its economic revolution.

Don't see why the people would want to celebrate. The government there was responsible for more deaths than either Hitler or Stalin

The scariest thing is that nearly every third person in the world celebrates the 60th birthday of his nation right now.

Have you ever studied any kind of Marxism, or socialism with Chinese characteristics? What is happening in China is precisely what has to happen, it is a necessary stage of the development of the modes of production. China went straight from feudalism to attempting communism, totally skipping the Bourgeois stage of production, now they are going through that stage and will come out at the other end ready for communism.

We've observed that capitalist markets are themselves dependent on central planning, and state capitalist markets are to an even greater extent. Reference by anti-socialists to Chinese development being market-based does them less credit than the rigidly laissez-faire proponents' (with whom they typically overlap) reference to the economic power of Western capitalist countries, which were and are reliant on substantial protectionist and interventionist policies.

I find ironic that in your avatar, you appear to support Irish and Palestinian nationalism. Yet you celebrate a Government and political movement that has brutally suppressed independence movements and engaged in an invasion and suppression of another peoples. Not to mention the amount of Chinese killed during the cultural revolution.

But I suppose 60 years of centrally planned socialism come authoritarianism is worth supporting.

I await your apologetics.

Communism, socialism, Marxism, and Leninism suck. Period. They are historic failures. For anyone on this forum to stand here and point to China as an example of the success of communism is intellectually dishonest. If anything, their move towards private business and playing at capitalist market raider have been responsible for what people see as a "successful China." Capital investment and increased work force productivity driven by trading on the international market are responsible for what we are seeing.

Not because of any plank of communism or it's derivatives. Their complete disregard for the environment (which is taking an incredible toll on their country) and their insane production rates are almost horrifying to look at.

Mixed capitalism is the way. China sees that. They're trying to find a way around the "capitalism" part of it by branding it as something new and exciting and unique to China.

Whatever.

Although they would get there alot faster if they allowed trade unions to organise freely.
