60% of liberals don't like America [W:13]

I never got the whole 'pride' thing. I mean, if you're born somewhere, what's there to be proud of? So to me it's not a dilemma to figure out, am i proud to be american any more than proud to be white, right handed etc.

I'm not sure that most of the world saw america as a shining example prior to GWB, although his election was no doubt humiliating.

The world has had lower approval ratings for Obama vs Bush for some time. Obama does not love this nation.

He “worked with congress” only because he was beaten into submission by the backlash from his first couple years trying to push an Obamaesque wrong-wing agenda that, for the most part, even his own party couldn't stomach. You think he was a “good President”, because, on the whole, good things came out of the time he was in office, but for six out of the eight years, it was not his policies being put into effect, but those of the Republican-controlled Congress. Clinton ends up getting a lot of credit for policies that, if he were still in any control, he would have solidly opposed.

You forget his past, he was one who founded the Democratic Leadership Council which at the time consisted of conservative Democrats. The Democrats we use to send to congress were more conservative than what the Republicans from the northeast and midwest were sending to congress.

You are drawing a lot of leaps and bounds to make your argument here. Thinking that American CAN and SHOULD be better doesn't make you "Un-American", if anything, it makes you more of a Patriot/American. .........................

Hey there DD

This really is a serious question: (see bolded above) Better at specifically what and how.

An inquiring mind wants to know

Nothing really new here.

>" Not surprisingly, there’s a strong split on a partisan level, with Democrats more likely to say they are less proud to be an American.

Pew divided their sample into different categories across the left-right political spectrum. When asked if respondents “often feel proud to be American,” a majority of strong liberals, 60 percent, said no. The only group that solidly agreed with the statement was conservatives, ranging from 72 percent to 81 percent. About half of the respondents in the middle of the spectrum – essentially libertarians to socially conservative fiscal liberals – said they were proud to be American..."<

It's all here -> Poll: Proud to Be an American? Forty-Four Percent Say No - Leah Barkoukis!
From your poll link:

About This Report
This is the
second
report of a multi
-
part series based on a national survey of 10,013 adults
nationwide, conducted January 23
-
March 16, 2014 by the Pew Research Center. The survey,
funded in part through grants from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the John D. and
Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and supported by the generosity of Don C. and Jeane M.
Bertsch, is aimed at understanding the nature and scope of political polarization in the American
public, and how it interrelates with government, society and people’s
personal lives.
10,013 adults? That explains the consensus of most people?

A troll thread? Yeah...I guess that's what you would call a thread with news from a poll that you don't like.

Polls can be anything you want them to be. Mostly bulls--t!

This just shows that liberals are more likely to have a conscience and a sense of responsibility.

Oh...I agree. That's why I don't take much stock in polls. But that's not what I was talking about here.

Exactly. He reaped the rewards of the tech era, discredited himself in office with Monica, and his few successful pieces of legislation happened only because he HAD to play ball with the Republicans.

I think this fall we are going to see a repeat of the 94 elections.

One of his "accomplishments" I didn't bother to note any of my posts was his decision to 'GIVE our missile guidance system technology' to, now get this...CHINA. Of course, he did campaign for NAFTA and actually signed it into law...but I didn't think that included giving our weapons system technology away...especially to one of our most feared enemies.

What re you talking about.

sigh...

My dear, I was talking about a person identifying a thread as a "troll thread" because they don't like the poll being referenced.

I don't trust any polls. By asking the right questions to the right people you can effect the out come positive or negative to suit its purpose. My dear, I wasn't the one who called it a troll thread.

Having a problem with comprhending what you read ?

My name isn't Pew.
Go back and reread post #54. I have no idea as to why you would be thinking that way. And I never thought that your name is Pew

I've already agreed with you when I said I don't like polls and I've never said that you called this a troll thread. Okay?

This is what happens when we elect democrats-they bend over and spread em to dictators and our geopolitical rivals.

Lets not divert from the thread.

I was not. The OP posted an article making a claim. The actual poll did not support that claim. Sababa commented on that. You made a snarky comment, claiming that he was wrong. He wasn't. I pointed it out, refuting you.

So, what do you think about the dishonesty contained in the OP?

Way i see it (i'll probly get reamed for this but whatever), you'd have to be a true simpleton to 'like' or 'dislike' a country so vast as this. There are aspects to it i like, and those i do not.

Except of course the poll asks about pride instead, which i explained already it's impossible to take pride in something we did nothing to achieve.

Question, who is the "OP" ?

On the DP I've seen it used as relating to the DP member who started a thread, the source used, the messenger or the message. Which is it ?

On this particular thread I see two different Pew studies used and someone crunched the numbers coming up with libs aren't proud of America.

Have you noticed that around every July such a news story is released showing that libs either don't celebrate the 4th of July as say as most Americans or are not as patriotic, or didn't own an American flag before 9/11, etc, etc, etc. And every July libs get their panties all wadded up. Except back in 2012 and 2013.

Liberals are aware the patriotic celebrations and even just the flag tends to make people more conservative for some time after the event. So come the 4th-its crickets from the left. But dont worry, they support our troops. :doh

Where do you come up with this ****?

Now you are just making **** up. The number in the title of this thread came from a poll in which 40 % of one group of liberals said they where not "frequently proud to be American". No number crunching, and I linked to the poll the numbers came from. Your source misrepresented the numbers, and you took that even further. And you got busted for it, and now are trying to make **** up to desperately try and hide that you where caught.
