Not at all. It’s just that a wall isn’t a valid option.
There is no need to work on anything! Work was already done. There was a deal on the table involving border security and some immigration reform, Trump was ready to go for it, but got frightened by Limbaugh and Coulter. Trump now says he is immovable to compromise on this, my way or the highway. So some democrats took the highway to Puerto Rico. Let Trump play the monk in the White House.
Oh, you posted a damaged wall. Not even a solid wall. And still, in that state, people can't exactly run through, so it's still stopping illegal crossings.Never. But I heard that somebody sawed their way through one just recently.
The barbarians at the gate are licking their chops at the prospect of bringing Trump down by one crooked means or another. They focus on Trump because he remains a serious obstacle to their #1 goal of regaining control of the presidency for their own crooked reasons which have nothing to do with helping the American people or the God bless American nation.
No, some of us have a moral compass. Some of us loathe corruption.
Then there are others that don't recognized that the have been seduced by a cult leader, who cares nothing about them, until they have a glass of Kool-aid.
Are you always this paranoid? Ever take a civics class?
Putin is living rent free in your brain.
Puerto Rico is part of the United States, so I fail to see how there are any bad optics.
If, for instance, 20 of them represent telecom, it makes perfect sense for them to go to PR because the place is in dire need of better IT infrastructure.
If there are 15 oil industry reps, it might be because there is a need for a better fuel delivery infrastructure.
If there were 40 lobbyists for heavy infrastructure contractors who do large scale projects like the electrical grid, well then, Whitefish better look out, I suppose, and if another thirty of them represent the hospitality industry, can you blame them?
PR is still a resort getaway, at least when it hasn't been knocked back to the Stone Age by a natural disaster.
You might as well be complaining about Dems hanging out with lobbyists in Vegas, or Hartford CT, or Atlantic City, or Wilmington, DE.
You're behaving as if they visited a foreign country. Do you also yell at Puerto Ricans and tell them to "go back to their own country"?
The only one not doing his job is McConnell. He's had a couple of bills he won't put out for a vote. He doesn't want to upset Trump.
Speaking of sanctimonious?? WOW How do you look yourself in the mirror.
Meanwhile.....
Ok liberals, you proud of these optics? Still think that Democrats don't have responsibility in this shutdown lasting this long? The very base nature of politicians sunning their fat asses, and lining their pockets in PR, while back home there are issues that need their attention is bad enough, but when you throw in how liberals have hung crap like this around Republican's necks for years, and they don't care makes it just plain obvious...These people don't give a crap about American's....They only care about themselves.
I agree that the optics of politicians and lobbyists vacationing together is bad, but....
So, your position is zero compromise. The Democrat position is zero compromise. Trump's position is zero compromise. I'm cool with the government staying closed.
The real problem is that the government's not really closed. It's not like we can stop paying taxes while they are closed down, or that they stop enforcing federal law, or our wars stop, or we stop spending money. All it means is that everyone except for politicians stop being paid and certain services available to the people will stop or are impeded.
Could you imagine if under a shutdown, the Congress and the President didn't get paid and the People didn't have to pay taxes? We'd never have another shutdown again.
I would support funding those that are deemed essential enough to the function of government that they are currently working without a paycheck. The rest? Ehhh... no.
Says the guy who demands $5.7 billion to sate his absolute fear of brown people south of our border.
The government shut down because TRUMP did it, not the democrats. There is nothing they can do in Washington as long as the cry baby in chief is holding fast to his tantrum. I agree that the optics of politicians and lobbyists vacationing together is bad but why are YOU complaining? The right wing has made it their mission to allow more and more and MORE money into the political process, to blur the lines between democracy and fascism.
Blame yourself for hiring that bloated dip****, Trump and blame yourselves for making money the end all, be all in America. Liberals didn't do that, even though there seems to be many who are willing to play that game. This is, yet again, a case of conservatives pissing in the soup and then complaining about the flavor.
What a racist statement to make
That about sums up the brain power of a conservative. To you guys, just mentioning race is racist.
I didn't mention skin color you did, must be getting desperate as this is nothing more than a diversion from the reality that illegals are costing Americans a lot of money regardless of skin colors. What is it about illegal that you don't understand?
It is a perfectly valid option. The point of a wall is to make crossing a line slower and more difficult, which increases the time that patrols have to spot intruders before they have crossed. Let's say that you have patrols on the border that pass any given point every hour, and you have no border wall... a group crossing the border can be an hour inland before the patrol passes again. Put up a border wall and you immediately deny access to those crossing alone, and if it takes 30 minutes for a group of 10 to get over the wall then that doubles the chance that the patrol will spot them in the act, and even if they get over, it narrows the search area.
But, as has been pointed out many many time, the wall is not the only border security in the funding request, and would only fund 240 miles of fence that the border patrol and the President see as currently necessary. The added wall is required to augment other border security measures being requested.
Mentioning skin color isn't racist. Glad you learned something today. Not that it will actually stick in your brain though.
Trump isn’t getting his wall. He can ask for something else.
Cool, and the Democrats don't get a bill without wall funding. Keep the government closed.
Sounds like you need an English lesson to learn with Illegal means, has nothing to do with skin color as it relates to the law. Why are you supporting people who are breaking the law?
