Some 30 Democratic lawmakers left the government shutdown behind Friday on a chartered flight to Puerto Rico for a winter retreat with 109 lobbyists and corporate executives during which they planned to see the hit Broadway show “Hamilton” and attend three parties including one with the show’s cast.

snip

Some 109 lobbyists and corporate executives are named in the memo, a rate of 3.6 lobbyists for every member. They include those from several big K Street firms, R.J. Reynolds, Facebook, Comcast, Amazon, PhRMA, Microsoft, Intel, Verizon, and unions like the National Education Association.

Meanwhile.....

"In several tweets Saturday morning, Trump said that he was waiting at the White House for Democrats to make a deal that would both end the government shutdown and allocate money to construct a physical barrier at the southern border.

“Democrats should come back to Washington and work to end the Shutdown, while at the same time ending the horrible humanitarian crisis at our Southern Border,” Trump tweeted. “I am in the White House waiting for you!”

Ok liberals, you proud of these optics? Still think that Democrats don't have responsibility in this shutdown lasting this long? The very base nature of politicians sunning their fat asses, and lining their pockets in PR, while back home there are issues that need their attention is bad enough, but when you throw in how liberals have hung crap like this around Republican's necks for years, and they don't care makes it just plain obvious...These people don't give a crap about American's....They only care about themselves.

Yes, I'm fine with it actually Puerto Rico is still hurting badly from the hurricane from a year ago and out disgusting President is trying to use the money that was specifically set aside to help Puerto Rico to build an idiotic wall that we don't need or want. At least the money raised from the tourism of all these people will benefit the territory.

Still, think that Democrats don't have a responsibility in this shutdown lasting this long?
Yes, the Democrats have already passed multiple bills in the House which would open the government, and there is absolutely nothing that Republican's could or would offer them to make them change their minds. Republicans are the ones who want to change things despite clearly not having the votes to do so. It is therefore 100% their fault that the government is not up and running.

So what?

Would you be as outraged if they went to Stuebeville Ohio over the weekend? Puerto Rico is part of America, you did know that didn't you?

Admittedly, the Dems are in Puerto Rico arranging their bribes, I mean, campaign contributions, etc. There's nothing going on in Washington. Thier choice is PR or give Trump his wall and they already stated, many times, they're not funding the Wall. Trump's position is No Compromise so why would they be needed in Washington? Trump is waiting to make himself sound like a big hero when he finally relents and gets Fed paychecks flowing again. Trump's the bottleneck and the reason those employees are not being paid. There is no way out for him to save face, so he punishes everybody due to Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

I'm sure there were, last weekend, more than 30 Democrats in Puerto Rico, regardless of how many lobbyists were there too.

Yes? And? What has Trump offered as a compromise to Democrats?

Plenty....He's gone from $25 billion to $5.6 billion. He's moved from a concrete wall covering the entire border to 235 miles of Steel bollard fencing. He's offered to take a look at issues like dreamers, and the TPS programs....Plus, he is the one staying in DC waiting on a call, or visit to settle this issue rather than sunning, and lining their pockets like Democrats are in PR....

What has your side offered?

Um...no. The $5.6 billion was his beginning demand. The $25 billion figure you're referring to is what Democrats offered to him in February of last year. What compromise has he offered since the beginning of this shutdown? Keep in mind that a wall of any kind is not a compromise.

Edit: is he "looking" at dreamers? That's so very nice of him to do.

How awful. They attended a benefit meant to raise funds for the arts in Puerto Rico...last time I checked was part of the US. Hopefully while big wigs attended they were spending big ass bucks to support the community. They could use it.

It was nice that they also offered $10 tix to the locals.:peace

And politicians being in the presence of lobbyists? Call 911!

Why lie?

He's gone from $25 billion to $5.6 billion.
25 was never part of this. why lie again?

He's moved from a concrete wall covering the entire border to 235 miles of Steel bollard fencing.
Can you cite a source for that?

He's offered to take a look at issues like dreamers
Looking? Is that what you call compromise?

BTW, is there something illegal about what what you cite in the OP?

Really? You're ok with it? Wow....Good, then I never want to see you denigrating Republican's for dealing with lobbyists, in the wake of this....We know you won't be that honest though...I hold out hope. But, if you were seriously caring for the people of PR then you would have been on your Senators to pass the bill that came over from the house in December that had funding for disaster relief, as well as the $5.6 billion for border security...Clearly you don't care about those people.

Yes, the Democrats have already passed multiple bills in the House which would open the government, and there is absolutely nothing that Republican's could or would offer them to make them change their minds. Yes, Democrats passed a bunch of show votes they knew were DOA....But, I find it delicious that you whine in here about "not having the votes", but your side of the isle are the ones running around bleating "you guys had control of all three branches..." Talk to the hand buddy.

Sorry Dave....Big fail....I am sure we have heard from you that this sort of blatant "bribe taking" is wrong, and at least it is good to see that in some small part we agree on that...BUT, when the President has publicly stated that he is willing to compromise, and in fact has moved from some of his original positions on this, but democrats won't budge one iota? That is not on the President, that is on Democrats....

He offered you people 1.8 million illegals given a pathway....And yes, the $25 billion was there, but it was a disingenuous offer by Democrats, as in last minute, or final deal, they slid in Chain migration, and Visa lottery immigration knowing full well that would blow up the deal....Don't give me this dishonest crap that they offered the $25 billion, when you know that is only part of the story....

So, regardless of that, he has indeed moved from $25 billion to $5.6 billion...That is a fact.

Yep, you have no problem sucking up to lobbyists as long as it's Democrats right? If this were Republican's doing this, you'd be in here beating them over the head with it, and you know it.

Get back to me when the GOP offers something of real value, like federally legalizing cannabis or something of worth to the american people, instead of claiming he offered anything... at all.
