you're kidding right? That was his whole spiehl, like the whole thing. A nationalist sentiment rooted in white male privelage and anti globalization. Please tell me you understood your own candidates platform.
I don't wish anyone ill.
The black vote didn't turn out
The latino vote didn't turn out
The uneducated women voted stronger for trump than anyone expected them to.
This isn't blame. These are undeniable facts. And elections have consequences.
well you got what you wanted, now your better hold their feet to the fire, or you will have another 2008 election year again.
I think it's appropriate to congratulate Trump supporters, and so: congratulations. I sincerely hope that things will turn out well.
All of the incumbents except in Illinois retained their seats. The establishment was re-elected not kicked out.
i am sure you dont wish anyone ill will
i know your unhappy, and we will see many people who are very angry for a little while.
The American people spoke last night and through out the establishment. Hillary got booted out of hopefully politics and I won't have to watch her miserable face on TV any more. It is morning again in America as the Establishment and the media lost. Good Riddance
Yesterday I challenged a couple of Trump supporters to accept Hillary Clinton as their president. Neither one told me they would and suggested I would not do the same. I posted the following in response as it well articulates how I feel this morning...
"I challenged you to accept the "Will of the People", but you told me you would not. Well, the shoe is on the other foot. So, I am here to tell you the I do accept the Will of the People to elect Donald Trump as my President. While I think we made a terrible choice as I don't believe he can do the job, I nonetheless wish him success.
I am certainly embarrassed that I was wrong in my assertion that there was no way he could be elected. Yesterday I did not want to be wrong on that, as I thought I was right on his incompetence. But, given I was wrong on the former, I now pray that I am wrong on the latter as well.
Good luck, Mr. President-Elect"
Obviously very disappointed at the outcome, but personally, as a straight, white, wealthy white guy, I think I'm going to be ok.
There are plenty of other people who I'm far more worried for. When female/latino/black/transgender/gay/etc people voted for Hillary, it was because there is a very real threat of their civil liberties being taken away. Not because they didn't trust someone’s emails.
Trump isn't doing any better with blacks or latinos than W Bush did, in fact he's doing worse than Bush with latino's.
I don't think Trump broke any barriers with those voters, it's just that Hillary Clinton sucked.
while i agree with you on hillary, and i hope i dont see her face in d.c. any longer, the political machine which was there is still there.
to me, a sign of progress from trump would be the repealing of Obamacare, cleaning out the executive branch of government with a lot of firings and enforcing the law to the letter.
many people dont agree here
He asked how we would be moving backwards. For the last 30 or so years, since the fall of the wall, we have been interconnecting global economies. Making them interdependent. It's literally lifted a billion people above the global poverty line, which is below our poverty line. In other words, America has been making sacrifices at home for future gains in a stable world economy. That is ehat I mean by globalization, Trump has made it clear he will be backing off that to a more fifties esque nationalistic approach, in other words moving backwards on the path we've travelled so far.
What do you think Make America Great Again refers to? And while I think its a bad move, I have repeatedly said I will support the President, so why are you trying to convince me of something Im not opposing? I just think we should all be clear on what is about to happen. That is all.
So we will end up - yet again - with a Republican President who lost the popular vote of the American people. Or to put it another way, Trump will join George Bush and the last two Republicans to take the White House both finished second in the popular vote.
I taught American government for 33 years. So spare me the armchair lectures about the wonders of the Electoral College. I know it well. I also know that this is a prescription for disaster as it only makes cynics out of voters who do not understand it or know it well. And the central pillar of our system is the faith citizens have in our system.
The EC right the system in favor of the smaller states over the larger. That is simply a fact of arithmetic.
If every cloud has a silver lining, let us hope that reform of the EC is this years shining benefit.
It will not be as the Republicans will NEVER change a system which benefits them and punishes their opponents.
I think this ginormous slap in the face of the clinton machine will emblolden the crap out of the Bernie Sanders/Elizabeth Warren progressive wing of the Democratic Party. As much as it was a vote for trump or against hillary... within the dem party I think it will turn into a vote of no confidence for that yesteryear clintonian "third-way" politics. That train failed epically last night and I don't see it recovering.
The other option would be that the dem party thinks they need to move hard to the right. That would be an even worse mistake. There is already a party over there and mimicking them won't win the dems anything.
Actually, Trump won the popular vote as well. By close to a million votes last I checked. So either way, Trump is the victor here.
What don't many people agree with? The reasons for their voting?

It's like the 2008 recession never happened with you types. Trump is inheriting relative Utopia compared to THAT.
you mentioned civil liberties, which are civil rights, which by the constitution are ..privileges.
privileges are created by government, and the problem is government is creating privileges for the people on the private property of Citizens, which they have no authority to do.
Actually, Trump won the popular vote. I didn't vote for Trump. My vote was for Gary Johnson. However, I do see why Trump won this election. People are pissed and wanted change. At this point, I am going to take a wait and see attitude, and see if he does what he said he would do. For right now, Trump is my president, and I am going to give him a chance.
No matter who won, Satan or Jezebel, I was going to be unhappy. But that said, watching the Clinton machine go down in flames was a big assed bonus for me. I hope we never see the Clintons again after this. Either of them. She is a very bad woman. Leave it to the Dems and the Republicans to each put up the one candidate that would keep people away.
I'm embarrassed for America but yesterday we proved we deserve it.
