2012 Democratic National Convention, Sept 3-6, Dicussion Thread

Re: The story of Zoe. The importance of affordable healthcare.

You can thank the House GOP for that job report. Their plan was to run the country into the ground in order to win back the WH.

THEY BET AGAINST THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.... and they are losing.

Now that is a novel spin, declining participation rate, people dropping out of the labor force, 844,000 discouraged workers, lowest labor participation rate in decades and you try to spin that positively? I am very happy for the 96000 people who got a job but not the 23 million unemployed/under employed/discouraged workers still in a depression

I hate images like this. They spread all over my Facebook feed, liberal or conservative.

Re: The story of Zoe. The importance of affordable healthcare.

There is no evidence that Hospitals will stop taking medicare. Also, I am currently on Medicare, and my doctor has no problem with the AHA. Ryan would want to give me a voucher and push me out there to the insurance companies, which once Romnay apeals AHA, I wouldn't get health insurance because of pre-existing conditions.
The economy picking up and my husband, a small business owner, is looking at hiring more people because he is seeing an increase in work orders. Currently, my husband has been working 70 hours a week for the last several months because work is picking up. The outlook is improving. We see the impact.

Again more dishonesty from you, you really have no idea what the Romney/Ryan plan is for Medicare and just spout DNC lies and distortions. If you are on Medicare right now you are over the age of 55 and the program doesn't change for you. Then to deny that doctors and hospitals are dropping Medicare simply shows you are out of touch with reality.

You seem to always get it wrong, it's Obama's failed policies you have to blame. He is the president and the commander in chief and the buck stops with him. If he ever showed leadership and worked with Republican like Clinton did things may look entirely different.

Obama's speech last night is more of the same failed policies, borrow and spend. But now instead of saying what he can do, he now has moved to "Goals". Our goal is to somehow create a job. Good going Obama.

Re: The story of Zoe. The importance of affordable healthcare.

I guess you didn't get the memo...

They don't care about you.

I guess you have never been a leader and don't understand leadership at all. It is a leader's responsibility to at least try to unite the country and when Obama rammed through the Stimulus and Obamacare he did so on a purely partisan basis taking no input from Republicans. That isn't leadership and that is why Obama is going to be a one term President. People today aren't going to buy the rhetoric any more because the results destroy that rhetoric. It has been reported that he didn't even mention the Stimulus or Obamacare last night. Why?

Keep supporting the empty suit who is running for re-election on his record and not election for the first time

Here's is a memo, when was the last time the Democrats wanted to keep a Republican president in office?

Thats a lie. Romney and Ryan's plan doesn't change anything for people currently on Medicare. So, no, you wouldnt get kicked off onto a voucher program.

In fact, no one would be forced on to Ryan's plan, unlike Obama forcing people into his. The voucher program is a matter of ......wait for it.....CHOICE!! Now here i thought liberals were all about choice. You can CHOOSE traditional Medicare, or you can CHOOSE a voucher system. I like it, because as a relatively young adult, I'm forced to pay into 2 programs that wont even be solvent by the time I reach the age to get benefits.

Clinton got a wake up call in 1994 when he got overwhelmingly rebuked by the GOP winning in record numbers at the time taking back the Congress. Clinton was smart enough to at least try and compromise and lead, Obama doubled down and going to pay the price. The current economic numbers insure that this is going to be the most negative election in our times because that is all obama can do.

Exactly correct, wonder what it is about Obama that creates people like many here who ignore substance and continue to buy the lies from this Administration. You got the Romney/Ryan plan exactly correct but that won't change the mind of those here who continue to buy the rhetoric.

People who don't get how the House GOP is crashing the economy and brag about it should watch this video:

Reagan got help to fix the economy. Why won't today's GOP work with Obama?

Did the Democrats in control of the entire Congress, not just the house destroy the economy in 2007-2008 to regain the WH?? How many pieces of House legislation is sitting in Harry Reid's desk today and he refuses to allow them to be debated?

Reagan did indeed get help in 1981 to turn the economy around, he went directly to the American people who put the pressure on the Congress to implement his polices. Tip "Reagan's policies DOA" Oneil stonewalled Reagan until the country told O'Neil that he would be fired if he didn't implement the Reagan policies. Keep re-writing history as apparently you weren't old enough then to understand what went on during the first Reagan term

Re: The story of Zoe. The importance of affordable healthcare.

Who killed the jobs bill?

Why Republicans Killed the Jobs Bill

There are two clear reasons Senate Republicans filibustered the president’s jobs bill: just 10 Republican senators are up for re-election in 2012, and the only goal Senator Mitch McConnell, the minority leader, and his cronies have for 2012 is the defeat of President Obama, and too bad about the 14 million unemployed and countless millions of underemployed and those who have simply given up any hope of getting a job.

How can anyone support these immoral selfish pricks?

Here's another memo, why would anyone want to support failed policies. Example: Obamacare is a failure, that is why no Republican voted for it. Obama did not take one idea from the Republicans. Now that should answer your question, it's not the Republicans that are not working with Obama but the other way around. Read Post 1135, Obama is no Clinton, far from it.

They torpedo the economy and the recovery... Then they LIE about Obama policy.

GOP’s ‘Job-Killing’ Whopper, Again

The exaggerated Republican claim that the new health care law “kills jobs” was high on our list of the “Whoppers of 2011.” But the facts haven’t stopped Republicans and their allies from making the “job-killing” claim a major theme of their campaign 2012 TV ads:

These pieces of human tea-bag **** in the HOR actually called the ACA a job killing bill in their repeal bill....

I don't know why the GOP senators and congressmen aren't packing up their offices right now.

The jobs bill, what, more shovel ready projects that were never shovel ready. Oh and lets not forget Obama raised the national debt by 6 trillion in just 4 yrs. And you liberals want to keep borrowing and spending. Notice Biden and Obama never spoke about running up the debt by 6 trillion. Last the Dem's didn't want the jobs bill, even they could not swallow more borrow and spending.

Wow, continued dishonesty on the part of a frustrated Obama supporter. Don't blame you because the Obama results are a disaster and yet your continue to buy the rhetoric. My bet is you don't even know what was in that Job's Bill and that much of it was passed but you want the talking points and divert from the record. What is it about liberalism that creates this kind of loyalty?

Do you really think the American people support "failure"? No, again you have it wrong.

LOL, is this for real or just an act?

By the way I didn't watch the Obama speech last night because I didn't have to. I heard the same thing 4 years ago and realize that Obama is running for re-election vs election thus ignores his record.

Well the GOP support Romney.. he is a failure. Lost to Kennedy when running for the senate and last time around to McCain.. utter failure.

Yeah... um... read the bill (s).

They killed every effort to stimulate hiring.

How do GOP supporters not know this?
