13 Hurt In Downtown Austin Shooting; Suspect Not In Custody

Another mass shooting event, this one very much reminiscent of what happened in Dayton, OH a few years back. Guy shoots at folks enjoying the local entertainment district.

Good news here though is that no one died. Bad news is that we can't even enjoy a night out on the town without concerns that some nut will shoot the place up.
This only regularly happens in America. Too bad that there are zero answers to this problem and absoutey nothing can be done about it... or so we are constantly told.

how do you end "easy access to guns" without violating the constitution or getting lots of currently peaceful citizens and police officers killed?
your post makes no sense
ending easy access to guns thru effective, lawful gun control would in no way violate the Constitution
and there is no reason why imposing lawful gun controls would result in the deaths of peaceful citizens and police officers
you are just spouting hyperbole that must be found ignorant at best

Like what? Give an example or two and how it would work with almost 400 million firearms already in the US.
Start with a generous gun buy-back program. Monitor and limit production and sales of guns by gun manufacturers. Require insurance to own a gun just as one does with a car. Stiff mental screening of anyone buying a gun. Eliminate gun shows since they are nothing but a back-door way of subverting any gun laws. That's a good start.

Then defenitely do another mental screening if someone had their gun taken away before you give it back to them. That way shit like this might not happen...

"All of the guns" is simply setting up a false narrative.

Tell that to the people who keep saying the solution is to get rid of all guns.

I find it so damn silly that after ever mass shooting the pro-gunners always drop in and put the onus of doing anythign about it on everyone else and rarey, if ever, offer no solutions themselves.

I don't know why you're saying this to me since I'm not one of those people.

This is beginning to take on the look that here in the US, one of our most favorite past times and cool events to do on the weekends are mass shootings. What ever happened to going to the drive-in on a Friday or Saturday night as something to look forward to? It's like - "Come on dear, it's Friday so grab our bags of guns and ammo and lets cruise and find something really neat to shoot up. Maybe next weekend we'll take the kids with us." Psst of course, all of this 'fun' isn't completely reserved for just the weekend. :(

It's almost a good thing drive-ins are closed and being converted to churches. I sure as hell would not feel at ease in a lot filled with cars, every other one of which likely sporting a half dozen guns.

And since there are almost 500 million firearms in the US, the times that a gun was used properly is exponentially greater.
True. I'm not saying ban, but tightly regulate as it says in the Second Amendment.

I'm not sure that is a valid argument when 40,000 people die each year from gun violence.

Don't believe me? Well, try this on. "Hey there are 500 million sharks in the ocean; most of them don't eat people."

Would we still accept 40,000 fatal shark attacks? I doubt it.

I don’t “accept” any gun violence.,

True. I'm not saying ban, but tightly regulate as it says in the Second Amendment.

If it said “tightly regulate” in the constitution then the FFs would’ve tightly regulated gun ownership.

"Well-regulated militia" =/= unregulated free for all.
"No no , it must say 'Tightly.'"

Unbelievable, is it not? And, to think, that person says she does not accept gun violence. Shake my ****ing head.

Oh? Do quote me showing that I accept any gun violence.
What do you call this BS?
"since there are almost 500 million firearms in the US, the times that a gun was used properly is exponentially greater."

I await your lies, pretending the quote above does not say what it obviously does. You should have just accepted my shark analogy and moved on.

Great. Now tell me how the FFs (who wrote that) regulated weapons.

Stating the fact that there is an exponentially greater amount of people using firearms correctly doesn't mean I accept using firearms incorrectly. Try again.

Like the 500 million sharks, I know. What do you think would happen if 40,000 people were killed each year by sharks?

Well, if we did it yours and noonereal's way, every shark would be killed.

Hate to tell you, but THAT would be the consensus agreement on the planet. Kill all sharks. So, now tell me. Why do you accept 40,000 deaths per year by gunshot?
