‘Shut up and listen’: Bill Clinton tells off Marine during rally

Re: Bill take a pounding for Hillary

The headline should have been, Clinton gets mugged by Saboteurs...

... that have no other rational solution to stop a well deserving woman from becoming POTUS.

Re: Bill take a pounding for Hillary

Bill Clinton deserves what ever comes to him. I wonder how many others went to Vietnam in his place?

Pretty safe to say none of the current presidential candidates or for that matter anyone in their families. That is a good question. Has any of the candidates have proof of ever having a family member serve in the US military?

Re: Bill take a pounding for Hillary

Bush didn't serve in the military. His father got him into the National Guard. It's not like he went to Vietnam either.

Good morning Rocket - haven't seen you around lately so hope all is well with you.

As for GW and the National Guard, I won't argue the point other than to say a lot of people who serve in the National Guard and who were called up to serve overseas, at home, on the borders, and during emergencies like Katrina, in the last two decades may argue with you about what being in the National Guard means as opposed to what Clinton and Obama did in service of their country.

Re: Bill take a pounding for Hillary

Vern, you are a pretty smart guy. And, I can see that you study politics by reading many of your posts.

I hated what Bush did, Cheney as well. I have said so in many other posts. It was disgusting how they went to war with the information that they had. Cheney was a draft dodger, while Bush did actually volunteer for Vietnam. (There is documented evidence that he did). Did Bush miss weekends with the Reserves......yup.........but many others also do as it is pretty lax in some commands.

Rush, I could care less about, as he is a entertainer and will never be in any form of office.

But, for you to say that I am leaning right, or being a hypocrite in my arguments is pretty unfair.

Clinton.........I stand firm. He is a disgusting man who abused the office, abused women, and has a documented letter of thanks for the people who helped him avoid being drafted.

And RN, you seem like a nice guy but Bush got special treatment and dodged the draft. You just cant call Clinton a draft dodger and not Bush. You have to resort to rhetoric to make the case that Clinton's deferment (that you or I could have gotten) is dodging the draft. I don't need to weave a tale to call Bush a draft dodger. And Bush didn't skip a few weekends. He disappeared for 6 months. But we don't need to discuss that.

You can make a case that Clinton, Cheney, Limbaugh and Bush are draft dodgers. You just cant a case that leaves out Bush. I can make a case that leaves out Clinton.

Re: Bill take a pounding for Hillary

Bolded: veiled smear. There isn't a lot I forget.

So your solution is to start wars that cannot be finished? That undercuts your morality. I believe Clinton tried that. Did terrorist attacks increase or decrease in that time frame?

So, 40,000 US casualties in Iraq are deflected by you pointing to something Clinton "tried." Tell me. How many American servicemen were killed or wounded in wars begun by WJC?

Re: Bill take a pounding for Hillary

A bit off topic, but this reminds me that I do not like the idea of a POTUS who has never served in the military giving salutes.

I realize she/he is the Commander-In-Chief.

But I do not think it right - plus it looks ridiculous to me.

It does not keep me awake at night or anything...I am just sayin'...

I guess more to the point is that people are still upset that Clinton didn't go to Vietnam. Bush didn't either and Obama was too young for it. We have had two Presidential candidates (one from each party) who DID go, and they both lost.

Re: Bill take a pounding for Hillary

Last time I checked the National Guard was military.

If that helps you justify it, by all means. He still didn't go to Vietnam. You can't rationalize that fact.

You don't use wars to find out what Clinton is responsible for, you count terrorist attacks.

Have had those same feelings. It kind of reminds me of the baseball managers who although usually 20-40 pounds overweight are out there wearing the player's uniform.

I am not justifying it. I am just pointing out that the National Guard had more troops in Iraq than the active duty did at some points in Operation Enduring Freedom. I don't want to see their roll minimized.

What about Operation Iraqi Destruction?

Re: Bill take a pounding for Hillary

You do know what a chicken hawk is, right? It most certainly does not include veterans.

/facepalm

that was my point, people whine about "chicken hawks" and ignore the chicken hawks in thier own party.

Re: Bill take a pounding for Hillary

Wasn't there already a war in Afghanistan that needed more troops and a concerted effort after Bush neglected it for 5 years while wasting time in Iraq?

How many Americans died during the Libyan bombing raids?

Why would you not like drones? Drones are awesome. No troops put in harms way at all.

better question, how many Americans died during the time since obama's surge in afghanistan..... What have we accomplished since that time?

The Marine acted disgracefully. He went on a rant. He wouldn't allow the former President to answer any of his questions or respond in any way. I want to point out, however, thatBill Clinton didn't direct security to kicked the Marine out nor encouraged the audience to heckle him. Security took it upon themselves to remove this young veteran from the facility. Bill was still willing to answer his questions even as he was being escorted out, even asking security to stop at one point. But the Marine wouldn't close his mouth. (As an aside, for those of you who want to know what a disruption really looks like, this was a clear example). But it doesn't stop there.

Then an older woman steps up and does the same thing...badgers and demands answers concerning Hillary and Benghazi, but won't shut up even when she gets an "No" answer to her question.

It was a nice try at painting former President Bill Clinton as someone who doesn't respect our veterans, but in this case the reverse occurred. The veteran didn't respect the former Commander-in-Chief. The man may no longer be President, but you still show him some respect.

Love it! it wasn't clinton that threw the guy out it was the security decidng on his own..... Trump however personally told black people to get out and it was only because they were black...

At the very least, it prevented another Iraq. You know, the place where terrorists run free and enemies like ISIS are uninhibited.

Re: Bill take a pounding for Hillary

Did we win? No. But, has it become another Iraq, chock full of terrorists and armed enemy forces invading other countries? No. It hasn't.

You can't be serious.
