A Miami Republican who co-founded the group Latinas for Trump is condemning President Donald Trump’s mass-deportation campaign and blasting recent immigration enforcement actions as harmful.

“This is not what we voted for,” State Sen. Ileana Garcia said in a statement on Saturday. “I have always supported Trump, through thick and thin. However, this is unacceptable and inhumane.”

The public remarks from one of Trump’s longtime supporters come as the president’s immigration policies cause stress and uncertainty in South Florida. Trump’s executive orders and the Department of Homeland Security’s actions have targeted hundreds of thousands of immigrants in the region, including Cubans and Venezuelans — communities that threw their support behind Trump during the November election, helping him win Miami-Dade County.

State Republicans in safely Republican seats are starting to feel the 🥵 as Trump ramps up his attack on civil and constitutional rights.

People in the next election will remember ICE being sent to the homes of their relatives, and friends, and pulling people aside for not having the right last name or looking out of place.

I think I am starting to like this summer of love 2025. Hell, I ❤️ Trump's golden age.

Let's gooooooo.

If the US really cared about illegal immigration it would start arresting the people that employ them. The United States is 100% onboard with taking advantage of these people and treating them criminally for political reasons.

Yes, but people who hire large numbers of illegals are white, and many of them are Republican donors.

They aren't sending ICE armed to the teeth for those people. They are going after the lady selling arepas, or the guy working Amazon deliveries.

'Latinas for Trump' or 'Latinos for Trump'? Ones a real political coalition with a sizeable membership and the other is a just a vehicle for a publicity stunt.

90% politics right now is a publicity stunt right now. Pick your poison. I’m on her side.

Trump has and probably still does use migrant labor at his hotels. If we care so much about law and order why aren’t we arresting those criminals like Donald Trump?

Something doesn't smell right.
She supported Trump through thick and thin and voted for him again after he promised to crack down on illegals (brown people)?
How stupid can you get?

Illegally entering the country is a crime. Deportation is a legal and proper remedy. Expedited deportations were used in the OBama administration to the point OBama was routinely called "deporter in Chief" by left wing news who or coarse didn't like removing illegal immigrants.
By the way, they are not undocumented persons, they are illegal immigrants and when they are apprehended their crime is well documented.

Caveat Emptor. I've had so many conversations with Latinos in the community who really dislike what's going on and voted for Trump. I'm surprised in the sense that I still find it hard to believe how voters seem to not be fully informed on what and who they're voting for.

Except you'll recall there were all sorts of protests over his actions as well, and he lost favorability among the Latino community. What the Obama administration didn't do was reverse course on the asylum process an target people who were here waiting for their asylum request to be processed. He also was stricter on family detentions which also faced backlash.

Trump doesn’t care what anyone thinks.

Both of these groups are too ignorant to survive.

They voted for the man who rapes little girls and deported them and their families.

They get no pity from me.

Thoughts and prayers to the leopard that ate her face and found it flavorless.

And, Obama's administration focused on those who committed violent crimes (and I think some drug dealing). Whereas Trump is lazily rounding up whomever is easiest to get rid of, which typically means people whose only offense is the federal civil infraction of being unlawfully present and who have been working, paying taxes, etc.

Pfffft!

:ROFLMAO:

That's not what "undocumented refers to.

The common theme I heard among the Latino community was the idea that Trump was going to go after the criminal element, which resonates among this group since many are directly impacted by criminals who are sometimes here illegally. The concern among established migrants is the competition for work as well, so for some it was less about being against immigration as a whole, but more about reducing it so their jobs aren't impacted. What they seemed to be oblivious to was the subtext of what's behind all of this, so they were unaware of the broader "defend western civilization" angle.

Not a very good leader of Latinas if he ignored all the warnings pre-election that this is exactly what Trump was going to do.
