Nah, they just want control of the power grid, which is rational. I just hope everyone is aiming VERY carefully. But they're still firing on the plant. That's the problem: they're pretty clearly intent on causing ecological damage.
It's a reasonably-modern nuclear plant. They're quite resistant to damage.Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine is on fire, says mayor of local town
"The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine, the largest of its kind in Europe, was on fire early on
Friday after an attack by Russian troops, the mayor of the nearby town of Energodar said in an online post."
This could prove to be disastrous for a wide area.
Definitely not.If the fire breaks out this could be 10 time larger than Chernobyl

That has to be it. The Russians can't be that stupid.I just heard that for now, it is the Administration building that is on fire.
Unconfirmed part: I heard these reactors are built extremely well. They are supposed to be able to withstand a bomb, and designed to automatically shut-down if trouble is detected.

The biggest problem they're having is that they underestimated the Ukrainian resistance and their equipment is old and badly maintained. This is a higher HQ screw up, not a Soldier screw up.Is there some part of this invasion that strikes you as them being particularly clever and/or competent!?
GodzillaThere's a difference between just not winning and bombing a nuclear reactor.
Who gains by bombing a reactor?

Putin isn't on the ground commanding an artillery battery. And Putin is doing this because he's paranoid.Seriously? Putin is throwing away his country's economy for a country that refuses to be occupied. That's pretty stupid.

Sounds like more like a gigantic screw up.You don't think shelling a nuke plant is something a commander might check with the boss about?
