Yes, there has been failure on all levels. Yet liberals come to this forum and it's all Trumps fault. He has the blood of 135,000 deaths on his hands. He is not immune to criticism but he is not solely to blame for this.

Maybe both sides, and the rest of the world, should come together and say F you China. It's time we brought back any technology or drug manufacturing or other critical items back to the US immediately. Not 6 months from now. I mean now.

So what else could Trump have done to help?

Simple. He put Pence in charge so he should have let Pence and the experts be who we heard from. Once it was determined that masks could lower the spread he should have led by example instead of playing foolish games. He should have listened to the advice that repoening too soon would damage any progress we might have made during shutdowns, instead of screaming for states to liberate. To this day he's still not leading by example or taking the advice of the experts as we watch states numbers growing and some reversing on what they've opened.

He couldn't wish this away so he just decided to try and redirect people's minds. Covid19 said it doesn't work that way Donnie and it's coming right back just like we were warned it would.

Again, governors decide the states policies on reopening. States that opened early always said if a hotspot occurred, they would close it back down.

Masks prevent the wearer from spreading to others. We know that Trump does not have it so him wearing the mask is a moot point for him transferring the virus. Would it influence some? Sure. But the videos of the people you see without masks dont seem to care.

You keep blaming Trump if it makes you feel better but the top 7 states in deaths are run by Democratic governors. Food for thought.

So you started this thread but really had no interest in an answer that wasn't praising Trump. My bad for taking the bait.

You go first.

So what else could Trump have done to help?

The largest change would have been just shutting the **** up instead of consistently undermining his own medical experts, muddying the waters on America's response. Because this isn't just about what the Feds do, or what the states do. It's also about what the people do.

Maybe, just maaaaaaaybe, you should try and have a rational, cogent point, based in reality, that you could support and defend.

He should have acted like a decent human being, instead of making it about himself. He could have actually attempted to bring the country together to fight this. He could have gotten all the governors together to have a unified plan of action. He could have urged everyone to listen to the medical professionals. Just a few things that showed he actually gave a **** about the people, instead of only thinking of his economic numbers.

Leading by example? Would that be like the Democrat Mayors and Governors allowing 5 weeks of hundreds of thousands of protesters to gather with no mask of social distance requirements?

On one hand they say this is the deadliest virus they have ever seen with the highest death rate in the world, closing beaches and businesses but a few hundred thousand spreading the deadliest virus EVER, isn't a problem.

no hypocrisy here, right?

I am giving the counter to 90% of the posters on this board claiming all deaths are on Trump.

No doubt the international travel hubs added to the problem, but that does not explain why the other major hubs did not have huge outbursts in the beginning. Atlanta, Houston, Miami, Dallas.

Toronto is the largest international flight airport in North America and has only 1,100 deaths.

Do you think Democrats handling this poorly somehow justifies Trump handling it poorly?

The blame game does nothing. He could have governed instead of assuring americans it's soon to be zero if you ingest a disinfectant.

Since I gave you the reasons how Democrats are handling this poorly, give me your reasons why Trump is handling it poorly and I can address it.

Consistently undermining his own medical efforts, spending months resisting masks (and then trying to pretend he has been pro-mask all along).

As I've explained before: how the people respond to a pandemic is just as important as how the government responds. People listen to the president. There are Trump supporters who refuse to wear masks purely because they think it's a political issue now.

People listen to the president? Like the 23 states with Democrat Mayors and Governors who are allowing hundreds of thousands to gather in the streets without mask or distancing and refusing the presidents help to stop these riots?

Sorry, you are going to have to find some other sucker. Nobody buys that BS.

Yes, people listen to the government. Not everyone, not all the time, but come on. You're telling me not one Trump supporter in the entire country listens to Trump?

You need to reread the op. The question was in reference to Trump and what he could have done differently.

Yes, people listen to the government. Not everyone, not all the time, but come on. You're telling me not one Trump supporter in the entire country listens to Trump?

I didn't claim that. I claimed that if Democrat Governors and Mayors aren't listening to him, what chance is it that most any other Democrat will listen to him.

It's pretty clear why Trump was refusing to wear a mask and his malarkey about they said not to wear masks but now saying yes is a child's game. This virus is new, what was known early on changed as things were learned. That's how science and studies work.

You might have noticed the people around him are promoting masks and with the exception of the hospital visit he was still pouting in corner saying "don't wanna".

And now? Apparently someone got through that dense head of his that this virus isn't going to just go away so not only is he starting the daily briefings back up, he put on his big boy pants and decided a photo of him wearing a mask was in order. It's going to be interesting how his base will react if he does in fact continue to be seen wearing one.
