THIS being a source of information or news, a source of OPINION definitely, but not the other two.
Generally people post actual news to go along with their opinion. I know this is might be a ****ing shock to you, with your posting history, but many others don't post in the same manner.

At the end of the day, "news" is really only a trigger to alert someone to something that may or may not have happened and is something that is being discussed by a group of people. It is then up to the individual to assess the news for it's validity, using whatever methods they deem fit. No one should really be reading or listening to any news source uncritically.

Actually any "news" items I have posted was accompanied by "links" and not to links like American Thinker or Breitbart neither.
Also, if you really have been following me, you may have noticed when someone makes a lot of noise with NO backing - stolen election as example - I post something to rebut them with links.

BUT YEAH, generally I am like the rest of the crowd here, just giving opinions. Why not, I blend in better that way, right?

Time to step up, and be TOTALLY honest.

What is YOUR main source of information and news?

I watch, read and listen to all of these including total whack job nutter sites like OAN and newsmax

  • MSM
  • Fox
  • Conservative media
  • Balanced media (Reuters, NPR, BBC, AP, etc)
  • Science based publications
I like taking in all types of media, I think its good for you if you are the type of person that can handle it and not get caught up . . its also fun to see what fake narrative talking points are going to be coming down the pipe.

I have only so many hours in a day, between having fun, eating meals, cuddling with my lady, enjoying me some Netflix, debating on here, smoking a joint, that I really really can't waste a minute on "conservative" media.

SIGHS:
Always MY task to correct you, clearly FOX is also MSM, but the separation was because of people like some on here who view any media outlet left of Fox or central as "MSM".
I bet most of our other regulars on here will understand why I listed MSM and Balanced Media separately, that is because "MSM" is a canard used by the Right to slag all media they don't agree with.

100%correct

The chart isnt bad but to have fox where its at and MSNBC where its at throws off the balance. Those stations have to be in the same lane on their side.

Or maybe the better solution would to be to have 3 lane each side and fox and msnbc can be in the 2 lane with newsmax, OAN and Daily Beast in the 3r dlane on their side

LOL well depending on what falls into that category you wont miss much, like I said for me its about getting the balance and seeing what nutters right and left are going to bring to the table.

ALso let me be clear, since i agree time is a factor I typically only make sure i hit all angles on stories im interested in......

but I will also let the more extreme shows play in the back ground when im doing other stuff

TV news, CNN and Fox. Internet news, Yahoo, Google, and Drudge Report.
I try and consider the News sources like Guardian and Sun vs AP and Reuters.

The ironic thing is that about 90%+ of the time Breitbart comes up it's because a liberal has done so. I almost never see conservatives use or reference them.

The chart is incorrect! But the left loves it!

Balanced media (Reuters, NPR, BBC, AP, etc)
That's a good one. lol

I visit a news aggregator that is generally configured to neutral MSM, read that, follow up on sources. If I hear something drastically different about the story depending on political or other biases, I visit opposition media to get the other side. I never watch tv news any more outside of clips in specific stories or live breaking events. This site is my guy next door.
It's always good to get both sides of the issues.

When it comes to TV news and online news media I like The Blaze and Fox News the most. We'll watch the local news every now and then too.

It's always good to get both sides of the issues.
It's much better to get progressive analysis instead of "both sides" (as if there are two sides to issues).

I get up to Morning Joe, CNN is on the tube pretty much all day, I have The Hill, Politico, and Huffpost on my phone, Yahoo news on my tablet for evening reading.
Yahoo has articles from Fox, Washington Examiner and a variety of other sources. I don't consider OAN or Breitbart or other right wing publications as news sources.

It's much better to get progressive analysis instead of "both sides" (as if there are two sides to issues).
Hence the dilemma in dealing with the "progressives".

What principles do you have issue with?
I'm not sure what your asking. I posted it's good to get both sides of an issue. On a "debate forum", it's helpful to understand both sides of an issue IMO. To that, you responded that it's better to get a "progressive analysis", and "as if there are 2 sides to an issue". If one believes there is only the progressive perspective, and only one side to an issue, there's nothing to debate. Hence "the dilemma.

the-news.webp

Seriously though:
Level 1: Normal MSM type stuff.
Level 2: Anything I feel like questioning, follow the links, look for reviews/critique.
Level 3: Anything I want to seriously examine, look it up and do the legwork myself or/and ask people in the know.
