Youngkin signs executive orders banning critical race theory, lifting mask mandate in Virginia public schools

"Virginia's Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed 11 executive orders on his first day in office, including one lifting a mask mandate in public schools and another banning the teaching of critical race theory, both issues Youngkin campaigned on."

What a great start!!!!! Unmask our school children!

And the mental midgets in the GOP cheer wildly!!

Leftist heads exploding because Youngkin banned what they claim isn't being taught, yet heads exploding...

If parents want their children to learn CRT or it's "ilk," then they can either teach that at home, find a private school with that indoctrination program, or hire a tutor.

Meanwhile, that racist nonsense should NOT be taught in any "public school" where all taxpayers are required to fund it.

Any teacher found to be doing it anyway should be severely disciplined, and if repeated, then discharged.
Any pedagogy infused into lessons, too. All teaching materials must be made public.

What a shame it is to ban masking for children who are most vulnerable to infection. A parent's job is to protect their children from harm. It's also a parent's job teach their children that trying to vote at 17 and under not once but twice, is punishable by law.

Putting kids, teachers, and their families at unnecessary risk during a pandemic for nothing more than scoring a few political points is literally sickening.

Some people think allowing the virus to spread a little and focusing on treatment is a good thing...

If parents want to send their children to school with masks on that remains their parental right.
Meanwhile, because of the new governor's due diligence, the VA. dept. of education won't be promoting CRT on their website anymore.

Yeah! Poof, the mention of CRT is gone. https://www.doe.virginia.gov/suppor...nstitute/Legal_implications_of_discipline.pdf

Proof it once existed:

Here's the real story in Virginia (IMO). It's not just Youngkin. It's also about Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears who is Jamaican-born and first woman of color to hold statewide office. And Jason Miyares is a Hispanic American who is now Atty General. If you're the Democratic party right now, you're shitting in your pants and not just because Biden's polling numbers are low. In 2013, Democrats were confident that demographic changes translated into inevitability of Democratic party/progressive rule. But today is a reality check, and in fact, it kind of validates something that I have felt for a long, long time: if Republicans could just kick some of their more their overt racism, they could & would dominate politics for decades. A lot of Hispanics and African Americans are actually very, very socially conservative, and even economically conservative.

Why do you want school children to get sick and possibly die?
Per the CDC, there have been a total of 582 COVID deaths in the 5-18 age range. Nationwide. For the duration of the entire pandemic. Out of 75 million kids. And Omicron is substantially less deadly than Delta was. And most of those deaths were before vaccines were available to kids. And also I'm not saying kids can't wear the damn mask if they want to.

A few minorities sprinkled throughout a GOP that is like 95% white proves absolutely nothing.

A great day for the people of Virginia. The man is going to eliminate politicized agendas from the public schools. I wish him well.

I don't disagree, but Democrats aren't communicating effectively with people. They're running campaigns based on lots of assumption (i.e. "Our base is Asian/Hispanic/African Americans because we're not racist."

You won't get any arguments from me on that. However, a few minority Republicans elected in a blue state like VA doesn't prove that Republicans will be winning elections repeatedly "for decades to come". It isn't just Democrats that believe Demographics benefit them in the long run, Republicans clearly believe it too, by their very own rhetoric and actions.

I also believe the younger generation in general, including hispanics and blacks, tend to be far more liberal than previous generations. Also, the GOP appears to have already permanently lost one minority group, Asian Americans. Prior to 2004, Asian Americans voted heavily GOP, but since then that has drastically changed, and doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon. And on paper, you would think Asian Americans are perfect Republican voters, but alas the actual voting habits indicate otherwise.

Also, the GOP isn't economically "conservative" in the slightest.

Which school in VA was teaching CRT? For that matter, what school district anywhere in the US teaches CRT?
In other news, Youngkin issues executive order that the sun must rise in the east.

How many of them brought it home to grandma? How many have "long covid"? it's about more than the body count.
