WuFlu Impact On Porn

He, like many conservatives, are members of the Christian Taliban.

Well really they are just like the far left they want the government to control everything, they just differ on what should be controlled.

I disagree with it all because I am a liberal.

Because sex as a performance art is immoral. And I don't give a rats ass about the "consenting adults" argument. "Consenting adults" is not the determiner of morality.

Law isn't a determiner of Morality either. It's odd I'm having to tell you this it's something I normally tell Bernie Sanders supporters.

It's a hellhole of stupid people, mostly with strong opinions and who crave drama. Spend 20 minutes on Facebook and you will understand how Trump got elected.

I was a bar manager for over a decade, I no longer feel the desire to go in search of stupid people.

Yes I know I just said that on a political bulletin board...

I think I may have to lay down and revisit some of my life choices, I may be confused...

I read it and the sarcasm/satire of a few close friends, harvest memes and leave before anyone in my family notices that I'm there.

Couples that take part in BDSM have their own way of communicating consent, including safe words. As long as the relationship is mutual and by consenting adults then the government has no place to regulate it. They can get their freak on however it pleases them.

Blueberry Pie!

(That's my safe word!)

People may not realize that in ever pricier Los Angeles, many people in theoretically *legitimate* areas of showbiz moonlight in porn to help make ends meet.

Do you ever hear one of those game show buzzers in your head when you spout off about stuff you don't know the first thing about?
Okay let's forget about celebs.
Name a well known director, DP, editor, even soundie, casting agent or set designer that moonlights in porn.
Once one reaches a certain level, the level where pricey things like buying houses are a decision, one generally has to make a permanent choice.

By the way, I worked in the industry, as an editor...when I was first starting out, barely knew how to operate the gear and was green as Hell.
That lasted about five months, when the Yellow Pages ad came out I found enough consumer level work to walk away from it, with a couple of exceptions:
In 2009 I did two video shoots for Playboy Video on a ranch in Central Texas.
The 2008 economic meltdown made me a little bit less picky, for some reason.
I also edited a B grade beach blanket late night softcore cable film, well known on Cinemax back in the 90's.

In the 1980's and 90's I also owned my own VHS duplication facility, part of my post production business.
I had several adult film company clients.

But the adult film industry is a very close knit community, almost a family, one might say.
With few exceptions, there is something of a hierarchy in it, even in today's democratized internet heavy environment.
That area has their own hierarchies.

Moonlighting is pretty much universal these days because half the American workforce needs two jobs just to stay afloat.
Machinists, programmers, dental techs, and more often moonlight for Lyft or Uber, or as food delivery drivers, or Walmart part timers.
Well over half of working Americans are underemployed and underpaid, and that's despite being incredibly productive.

It's fascinating to see you look down your nose at what people do for a living.
I'd bet five bucks you've never even had a job, any job.

I’m sure they can apply for a hand-job,...err, hand-out!

Well, the problem is that these are pick-up/moonlight jobs for many, and many are on the economic edge anyway.

Remember that for every on-camera person, there are multiple techs.

There are certain industries that will make it through ANY economic, civic, biological or climatological catastrophe. Porn is one of those industries.

For the sake of those who make (or supplement) their living doing it, I hope you're right.

Why should sex as a performance art be illegal?

Well...

I don't think it should be (obviously), but I think the argument goes that it's filmed prostitution, and not performance art.

This is another of your imfamously failed analogies.

If it was filmed prostitution then the guy wouldn't be paid for his performance. All of the parties are paid and it is completely consensual.

I'm relieved to say that despite my best efforts and long time commitment to doing more - I have only made it through about a quarter of the porn on the internet; I will be okay for the near future

Well, from an archival perspective, the industry's going to be okay. (Though there are a huge number of lost smokers & even more recent porn films.)

The issue is the many who rely on the industry for a living, supplemental or entirely.

Numerous techs, but also performers who have lost their main income avenues beyond porn.

It's mostly a one on one business, whether on camera or at the club.

Negotiating a scene is half the fun, but that is complete aside from the point of this thread. That said, despite the title, the thread has very little to do with porn.

Well, it's trying not to be about porn & porn's right to be anyway.

The issue (as you seem to grasp) is the economic well-being of those dependent on this very socially UN-distanced genre.

I understood what you meant and I agree - I'm just not sure they are much worse off than regular film and very many other industries right now, it's a very tough situation

We can only hope these guys and everyone else can get back to work as soon as possible

Government power has its uses.
Thanks for admitting to being an authoratain theocrat.

Why do you seek to force your religious beliefs into the lives of others despite both free speech and the two religious clauses of the First Amendment Your religious rights stop at the end of your nose where the equal religious rights of others begin. If you don't support porn then view it but don't try to tell others what to do because of your religious myths unless other religions can use the power of the government to force you to obey their beliefs and mythology?

There are as many ideas of what is moral as there are of who is or isn't a god and even then different sects of religion have a different idea of morality, so keep your myths to yourself as the religious clauses of the First Amendment mandate.

If you believe that your god is claimed to be all-powerful then why do you have to do his job for him,, or maybe he doesn't want porn to be illegal because he would have done it himself.

God expects his servants to try and do what they can.

You sound like the Taliban and the religious cops in Saudi and Iran. I thought that you opposed Sharia law, or it is just a different religion when you could force others to obey your own mythology?

Then don't watch porn. Why doesn't your god stop priests and ministers from molesting children and teens or is that part of your god's plan?

BTW, where is porn mentioned in the bible?

Our laws are not based on the Christian religion and all religions have equal rights.

We the General Assembly of Virginia do enact that no man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burthened in his body or goods, nor shall otherwise suffer, on account of his religious opinions or belief; but that all men shall be free to profess, and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of religion, and that the same shall in no wise diminish, enlarge, or affect their civil capacities.

— Virginia Statute for Religious Liberty

Jefferson and Madison's viewpoint also carried the day when the Constitution, and later, the Bill of Rights, were written. Had an officially Christian nation been the goal of the founders, that concept would appear in the Constitution. It does not. Instead, our nation's governing document ensures religious freedom for everyone.

Partially wrong on both counts.

And there is no Christian equivalent to Sharia law.

What the coronavirus has done to the porn industry — so far

Sex workers — like with freelancers, gig economy workers, and the like — will be hit harder than those with salaries and health insurance. It is also important to note because some sex work is also illegal in many places, workers can't seek the same benefits others can.

"Sex workers, like all workers, are probably going to be hit by the climate of fear," said Ashley, "but unlike a lot of workers they can't rely on sick pay or government subsidies to help tide them over because in some countries their work is still criminalised so they're one of the most vulnerable groups in a situation like this."

But if productions stop, then crews don't work. This is of course true of mainstream productions as well, which Stabile argued may be more unsafe in this situation due to a larger amount of people, and those who don't know how to handle bodily fluids.

I have no respect for sex workers, it is not a job, it's not an art, it's sh*t, it's utter Sh*t.

if they lose their "jobs" oh well, thats fine
