I thought this was a no question issue, evidently I was (terribly) wrong.

For me, yes, for two reasons:

a)Where I live needs it (i have a post about this)
b)I believe we owe the people of Iraq somthing

However, as I've found out (and found out, and found out, etc...) that is not how everyone else feels.

Yeah sure I would. But I doubt my municipality would welcome them. I got the third degree from the police today for taking pictures in a public park today. The President and the Vice President use to live here and apparently some big wig in the government was here today so the police were hyper active. They do this **** all the time. This is about the third time in the past few months I have been basically pulled over for walking and minding my own business.

I'd hate to see how an Iraqi would be treated in this neighborhood.

One of the reasons...remember I said ONE!!! of the reasons...for the invasion was because we can not save the world's deserving peoples by bringing them here.

(If you really had watched this video...

you wouldn't be pursuing this tripe.)

We need to give them our democracy and prosperity THERE!

Not here.

We can't afford it.

What is the matter with you? :censored

I provide you information you should have in order to make an informed argument. But instead of watching the video you lie and just say you watched it so you can continue your stupid silliness that is a bad idea and won't work?

Right, but seeing as Bush watered the Middle East's flower of democracy with napalm rather then water, it hasn't flowered into maturity. They can't have nice things there because we broke their country so very badly.

I'm tired of your boring video, I watched it, it's sophmoric closet-xenophobic arguments i've heard before and reject. I will not discuss it again.

WE CAN'T SAVE ALL THE PEOPLE WHO NEED TO BE SAVED.

YOU WANT TO PAY EXTRA TAXES TO BUILD A NEW SCHOOL EVERY DAY TO ACCOMMODATE THE NEW STUDENTS?

JUST STOP THIS SILLY ****!

We don't need to save everyone who needs to be saved, just those in situations where it's our fault. If we can afford this war, we can afford to buy them some schools.

What does Bush have to do with taxes going up to pay for your idiotic and misplaced example of charity?

We can't afford it. Even if there was no war. We can't afford it. Even if Al Gore had won. We can't afford it. Even if you were allowed to marry every man in sight. We can't afford it. Even if you were medically enabled to be impregnated and give birth. WE CAN'T AFFORD IT!!!!!

Stop lying and admit you didn't watch the whole video. There is nothing xenophobic about it. You just think you can figure out how to avoid becoming informed by guessing what it's about then shutting off any further discussion?

You are a joke and you would rather indulge your silly notion than become enlightened. That is truly pathetic. And sick. And petty.

Ummmm liberating the Iraqi people was an after thought in this war. Most Americans don't really give a **** about your everyday Iraqi. Most American's honestly don't give a **** about anything other then getting payed. But thats another issue.

YOU WANT TO PAY EXTRA TAXES TO BUILD A NEW SCHOOL EVERY DAY TO ACCOMMODATE THE NEW STUDENTS?

Rofl....yes...save the Arabs...just don't bring them over here.

JUST STOP THIS SILLY ****!

Agreed. But for some reason I think we're thinking of different usages for the phrase.

We could afford it if spent all the money we're currently spending on the war, on the refugees. we could afford many times over. These are not starving Africans who have been failed by their own states. These are people who have been reduced to nothing becacuse of our country. because of what we have allowed, and continue to allow to happen.

We can afford the war but not the clean up?

EDIT: too slow :doh

Their culture is where they would be most likely to welcome them.

After they came here they would be caught up in the anti-gay movement and the anti-immigration movement and the anti-Jihadist movement and the anti-tax increase movement and their lives would be much worse than you recognize but if we can just do this silly ill-conceived 'feel good' thing it makes everything just fine for you even though it would cause them grief, it would cause us grief and it could add one more major problem to this country that we won't be able to easily fix.

--- _ ---- _ ---!

Fix this **** first before you unleash some more liberal largess upon this society.

PRESIDENT LYNDON B. JOHNSON: Law and order have broken down in Detroit, Michigan. Pillage, looting, murder…

VO: Only a few years before, President Johnson had promised policies that would create a new and a better world in America. He had called it “the Great Society.”

[ TITLE: President LYNDON JOHNSON, 1964 ]

JOHNSON: The Great Society is in place where every child can find knowledge to enrich his mind. It is a place where the City of Man…

VO: But now, in the wake of some of the worst riots ever seen in America, that dream seemed to have ended in violence and hatred. One prominent liberal journalist called Irving Kristol began to question whether it might actually be the policies themselves that were causing social breakdown.

IRVING KRISTOL: If you had asked any liberal in 1960, we are going to pass these laws, these laws, these laws, and these laws, mentioning all the laws that in fact were passed in the 1960s and ‘70s, would you say crime will go up, drug addiction will go up, illegitimacy will go up, or will they get down? Obviously, everyone would have said, they will get down. And everyone would have been wrong. Now, that’s not something that the liberals have been able to face up to. They’ve had their reforms, and they have led to consequences that they did not expect and they don’t know what to do about.

Rofl....it's funny to see you quote forums like they somehow make a point for you. What folly. We all know there aren't already thousands of Muslims who's lives aren't caught up in....society.....worldwide. We all know being in some refugee camp in the middle of nowhere is a lot better then having to deal with John and Michael screwing and getting taxed. :rofl . Only you neo-con(victs) can make me laugh this hard.

No, we couldn't. You just say things that sound good to you without having any proof to back it up. THAT'S how I know you never watched the video, you liar.

Your ideas are silly and would make the refugees worse off and America worse off and you will still be unable to marry men or gain widespread legal parenting rights.

So give it up.

I wasn't quoting a forum, silly. I was quoting an anti-Bush documentary film.

I think you and coup deserve each other.

I won't discuss it any further with ignorants who fail to watch the video that outlines the facts.

Aw, you missed out on being able to rant about police brutality. But then again maybe it's better you wait until you have a large crowd and a snappy tag line.

Too bad, 'don't taze me, bro' is already taken.

BZZZZZZZZT WHHHHHHHHRR CLICK CLICK BLEEP

Translation complete:

"You all must agree with me or I'm going to pout like a two yr old!"

How about a new rule for US foreign policy: if you wont let someone live in your neighborhood don't "liberate them"

As I said before that was ONE reason we invaded.

You really aren't getting this, are you?

Maybe you are right not to have watched the whole video. It might have only further confused you. :2wave:

It talks to you, huh?

In the night does it say, "Winnie, you are a moron"?

You quoted civil unrest in 1950-60s America. In a thread about whether or not we should bring in people who've been displaced because of Bush's World Policing. Can you say NON SEQUIFVCKINGTUR?

We need to look at what we have been afflicted with, thanks to feeeeel good progressive policies, and fix THOSE problems first before we add to them with nonsensical feeeeeel good programs today.

By the way, we spend 17% of our GDP on healthcare and only 3% on the military. So, we can't look at the military expenditures as proof of anything regarding the ability to afford new immigrants.
