If a politician declared themselves to be a Satanist, would that sway your vote one way or another?

As political activism goes, the Church of Satan has a lot of panache. I suppose it would make me a bit more inclined toward a favorable opinion of them.

I want this guy back in the White House as Chief of staff. You?

So the person's religion doesn't matter to you? Any religion is fine?

Yes, any or no religion is fine.

I don't believe that Reagan, Clinton, Trump (especially Clinton and Trump) were actually religious and any thing they did for religion was for PR reasons

We have seen the Catholic church protect pedophiles, the same with Mormom and Baptist church. So being " religious " is not an actual sign of morality.

So as long as the politician respects religious freedom for everyone else I don't care what if any religion they have

I expect the last US President who was truly religious, and in general walked the talk when it comes to following his religion is Carter. I expect for most others religion is superficial

"The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg."

I guess Satanic Panic is back in vogue?

So, you all can pretty much guess what this question was meant to imply, right?

It's a gotcha question, or a fishing expedition.

As for Satanists in the U.S. - that is just the latest conspiracy absorbing weak minds, read on:

To quote:

• 25 percent agree that "Satanic ritual sex abuse is widespread in this country."

• 33 percent agreed that "members of Satanic cults secretly abuse thousands of children every year."

• 26 percent agreed that "the Disney Corporation 'grooms' children into sexualized lifestyles."

• 28 percent agreed that "there is a secret 'gay agenda' aimed at converting young people into gay and trans lifestyles."

• 30 percent agreed that "elites, from government and Hollywood, are engaged in a massive child sex trafficking racket."

Meanwhile, those of us who live our lives without falling for conspiracies or constantly looking over our shoulders for lurking evil doers:

I could not care less what religious affiliation a politician holds.

In fact, my preference would be to not know any religious affiliations. And, frankly, I'd prefer not to know party affiliation, but that's a bridge too far.

I've seen people who call themselves Satanists conduct themselves with more character, honor, integrity, virtue, and respect for the Constitution than those who would call themselves fundamentalist Christians or Christian nationalists.

Or they belonged to sects whose theology has been carefully crafted around the desire for wealth and power.
