It's a weird objective given that Greenland's main export is fish and crustaceans.

I mean, at least buy a country that has oil.... ;) :D .

The last time that the issue came up, me and my daughter watched an informative video on the idea. Something I raised in discussion afterwards, would trhat that would make it easier for the residents of greenland to move to warmer places in teh SOUTH.

Because life on greenland sounds depressing as HELL.

Just saying.
You know that Greenlanders are Danes, right? You reckon they'd prefer New York or LA over Copenhagen?

Hmmm yes, big brain strategy. Act like a titanic dipshit, that'll show em!
I meant “China” not Russia in the post you replied to. Not that my mistake would defuse yours in any way.

Our new President wants to purchase Greenland again. According to Fox News expert Brian Kilmeade, Greenland is probably going to cost about 1.5 trillion dollars. Wikipedia sources indicate that the country could cost between 200 million and 1.7 trillion dollars. Would you be open to the U.S purchasing Greenland?

I included statehood with the possible response. Statehood doesn't mean Greenland would be the 51st state. It might mean we would make it into multiple states.
Is Greenland even up for sale though?

What does Greenland have to offer and how much of a buying price are we asking?

Inflation is cumulative.

Can we trade them Mississippi for it,?

Unless Denmark wants to surrender one-third of its GDP, it can’t afford Mississippi. If Denmark were a U.S. state, its 2024 IMF-estimated nominal GDP, priced in U.S. dollars at about $412.3 billion, would place it 23rd, behind Missouri.

It's not for sale.

Hey if they are stupid enough to trade for Mississippi thats on them.🤪

I figured out the context. Trump acting like an idiot doesn't scare China. Hope this helps.

We're not buying Greenland. You'd have to be one hell of a dumbass bastard to suggest we'd buy Greenland.

They might very well have oil. There's growing interest in the Arctic region both for its energy potential and for possible new shipping routes.

Yes, nothing wrong with a nice offer and acceptance for the island. Thats fine. Threatening Denmark, not fine.

Actualy considering it is a poor rural region, I kind of thought that they might prefer something like... Tennessee.

And if you're Russia, that's why you're glad Trump won. Not only does he see no strategic value in defending much of Europe from Russian meddling, he's going to make scores of diplomatic unforced errors that will repulse America's friends and foes alike all over the planet.

Money well spent.

We'll see. We know Biden doesn't scare China. They loved the whole family.
