You said by the book, I'm pointing out it's not actually in the book.

The ski mask question still hasn't been answered. Should we ban those also?

My point, what is in the book is what you can count on. People take ski masks off when they go inside, or they are asked to.

...but it's not in the book.

So, would your proposed ban apply to the ski masks or not?

Thank you. The purpose was to demonstrate you are specifically targeting Islam for the sake of targeting Islam. "Need for identification" was a red herring the whole time.

No. Freedom of religion. Founding fathers made quite clear that the united States of America will not be an inherently Christian nation. Politicking religion like this is making them roll in their graves.

Burqa is not the symbol of religious freedom but it may be the symbol of the religious oppression at best

And the confederate flag is a symbol of slavery, oppression, rape, and treason. But for some reason it's legal to fly one on your own property.

I understand your point

Freedom of religion is just like freedom of speech. If we only allowed those we approve of then we don't really have it. These freedoms are defined by allowing those things we find distasteful to occur.

However, I also chose "other" because there may be laws already on books related to domestic violence that could probably be used in many of these cases. For example, if the woman lives in an environment where she is not allowed to have any money or have the car keys and such, that can equate to unlawful detention.

Based on what? Events in time? Meaning history?

If so, then so too is the cross, the star of David, and every other religious symbol: every last one of them has been used by bad actors to oppress.

That simple undeniable historical truth should not be used to condemn anyone who bears a religious symbol.

many of you keep living in a fantasy world

I am targeting Islam because it is an intolerant culture and will choke the life out of a tolerant culture like that of the West. If you want to pick at the little crap like Burkas, at least use them to target Islamists. They will not be far from women dressed that way.

I think the idea behind these bans is the women are not *free* to say no, which is equally pivotal to the freedom to say yes. But in the US, supposedly domestic abuse such as forcing it on them is dealt with. I frankly see that kind of thing so rarely it's just very out of place and makes me wonder if she has no self respect or is being abused, because otherwise i can't figure out why

Anyway, the only justification for an outright ban would be for identity purposes to prevent crime, but then you have to ban masks and costumes of all kinds since they also conceal. This was the excuse in france at least

Islam is no more an intolerant culture than Christianity. We can look at Christianity's sordid past for examples, or even today with its abortion bombers and WBC. Now if you want to say that fundamentalist mid-east based Islam is intolerant, I am willing to give your statement more credence.

They wear them because they were indoctrinated, or they fear punishment.

Can I go out and tattoo a jew?

Can I make my wife wear a burqa?

Try your game with someone else.

lost of people are indoctrinated we cant go around banning the stuff that dosent infringe on are rights over it

Awesome idea. Let's ban intolerance.

What a joke. If it were Christians requiring women to dress this way, the libs would have a field day with it.

We wouldn't be trying to ban it, no. Because liberals believe in freedom of religion. Conservatives believe in Christian dominionism.

Laughable...... because only liberals believe in freedom.

We're not the ones targeting a religious minority with discriminatory laws.

Specifics please.... which religious minority, where, and what specific laws. :coffeepap:

Burqa's should only be banned in places where other identity obscuring articles (helmets, hoodies, sunglasses etc) are banned. Simple as.
