Would you marry a former homosexual?

Would you MARRY a former homosexual?

  • Yes. So long as we had a good relationship, it wouldn't matter to me what he/she did in their past.

  • No I wouldn't. It would be a little too weird for me. How do I know that they are REALLY straight?

I was having a conversation with my friend about whether or not we would MARRY a formerly gay guy. My opinion was that most people would be less picky with a one night stand. When it comes to marriage, I think there would be hesitation. She disagrees.

So let's here some opinions and/or personal stories. I think it would be interesting to get opinions from both guys and girls on this since guys are usually the ones that find lesbians making out hot, etc.

Please, let's not get into semantics. No, this is not a gay hate thread. And let's try not to get into whether or not we think it's possible to be "formerly" gay or not. Just view it as a hypothetical situation: IF someone told you they USED to be gay, would you still MARRY that person?

Wouldn't they just be bisexual?

If you truely love someone then it wouldn't matter if they were gay or not in their past. And you should only marry someone if you truely love them.

So my answer is Yes. (assuming I wasn't married already, which I am.)

I'd be pretty pissed if she gave up lesbian activities for my sake. I would definitely try and make her understand that sex with otehr women is a good thing. Somehting she should engage in as often as possible while I watch and make sure she's doing it right.

If need be, I'll take one for the team and demonstrate the correct procedures for her as often as necessary.

I'm a considerate guy like that.

You have more self control than I. I can't just watch.

Well, like I said, I would probably need to give demonstrations from time to time to make sure she is doing it right.

I'd impose my own fairness doctrine.

Wouldn't they just be bisexual?

Not necessarily. A bisexual is someone who finds both men and women sexually appealing at the same time.

What I'm talking about are the select cases where people choose to ignore or reform their homosexual tendencies.

I have no problem with bisexuality. How could I? LOL

But if some dude was just trying to suppress who they really were in an effort to appear hetero, then no. Absolutely not. If they "changed their ways" because they "saw the light" and that "homosexuality was bad", then no I wouldn't date them. If they wanted to "reform" so they decided to live a hetero lifestyle, then no, I wouldn't date them.

Yeah, I don't think people are mistakenly homosexual. I would say that it would be pretty likely they would go back. I wouldn't marry someone that isn't comfortable with who they are.

I'm wondering if males are more set in their sexual oreintation than females?

me too. also I wish the poll wasn't anonymous, so we could see if men are more or less ok with marrying "former homosexuals" than women are.

In our culture it sems to be more aaceptable for girls to do girls vs men doing men. And I'm willing to bet most of either sex have at least had one fantasy.

No. Enhanced AIDS risk.
