This is my first poll so if I screw it up, deal with it. I've been reading various sites on this Titan sub thing and a lot of people talk about how stupid it was to pay $250,000 to climb into that death capsule. But imo the people that paid that probably viewed that $250,000 like a lot of us would view $250 or even less depending on our financial state. But if it was absolutely free is there an extreme adventure you'd do? I personally have thought it would be fun to skydive, but in the end I would be pool side and cocktail.

Probably yes. I've done a lot of adventurous things in my time. None of them cost that kind of money, of course.

Been white water rafting in the Grand Canyon the day after they lifted the black flags for high water and dangerous rapids following a big rain. That was exciting.
Mountain climbing, wilderness hiking, fighting in the ring (and out of it), riding offroad under rather dangerous conditions, exploring abandoned locales, that sort of thing.

When I was younger, I wanted to be an astronaut. I was also fascinated by Jaques Cousteau and meant to learn to scuba at some point... heck I might still.

Yes, I am that kind of crazy. I learned a measure of caution eventually (witness that I am still here), but let every man spend his life in the manner of his choosing, and if he will risk death, that is his choice.

I actually have been to two volcanos, but neither were in active eruptions at the time. Mount Etna closes during activity — same as in Hawaii. I’d stay away from the one currently erupting in the Philippines.

At this point in my life, I'm happy to sit by the pool, but I haven't always been like that. I've already done one of the most extreme adventure activities in the world...and I got paid to do it.

Combat.

All of those things you mentioned are a kind of "you against nature" thing. Yes, that can be adventurous, but it will never compare with a "you against man" thing.

I wonder if any of those rich people would pay $250K for someone to kick them out of a car in one of these neighborhoods?

If you can edit your questions, you might want to add "live" to volcano. I went up to Mt. Fuji and looked down into the "mouth" but it wasn't angry at the time. I think you mean a mean, spitting fire kind of volcano, yes?

Just a thought. Not trying to be mean.

I agree.

I did Mt. Fuji when I was in the Boy Scouts at age 15. It was fun, but it wasn't hardly an "extreme adventure".

I swam about 20 minutes off the Florida Atlantic coast past the breakers, One of those deals where you keep sight of a landmark on the beach so you dont drift too far with any current. Later I found out just how many sharks are out there, though shark bites are rare.
But I had enough, every time i go to the beach i chicken out now, the pool dosnt have sharks

Oh, I didn't mean my writing to come out as any sort of extreme adventure. I agree.

In fact, coming down was more dangerous than going up.

But a papasan in a hut where I ended the first day's hike burned my climbing boots that night. Even after I pointed out I thought he had put them too close to that charcoal heater. See, I walked from that train station to about a third of the way up with camping gear and ran into that papasan's hut by accident.

But you are right. That is hardly a dangerous mountain to climb. Just the opposite. As long as there are no strong quakes while you are on the mountain.

I did try to get permission to climb it in winter, but after going through so many different government agencies and getting a 'no' answer so many times I gave up. I think some British fella did it though after I tried to do it legally. Not sure what stupid reason made me try to get permission.

I've never swam with the sharks, but I lived in southern Florida for a couple years when I was a teenager. The coolest thing I did was snorkeling and having a barracuda come take a look at me...eye to eye.

I've done a few "extreme" sports. I've driven a stock car, I've gone skydiving, I scuba dive. I'd be willing to do others as long as the danger level wasn't too high.

I'd go to space in a heartbeat, it's always been a dream of mine.

I wouldn't have much interest in getting into a sub and going down to the titanic, same with climbing mount everest.

Seeing an active volcano would be cool as long as it's deemed safe to get near it.

I haven't seen a shark when diving yet, but I'm sure it'll happen at some point. I wouldn't get in the water when they're chumming sharks to get them hungry and aggressive, but if they're just cruising around doing shark stuff I'd have no problem swimming with most species of them.

Respect to @phoenix2020 for still picking visiting the titanic in a sub despite recent events.
I would. I feel terrible for those people but exploration and danger have always gone hand in hand since long before I was born and this will be true long after I am gone. There are few prople braver and more inspiring to me than a fearless explorer.

Dove with schools of sharks. Not a big deal if done right

Everest, nope, to much work. Could get the same view from a plane.
Deep under water, nope..
Toothless sharks, nah. Could still gum and thrash me to death. On their home court.
Volcano, sure.

I've jumped out of a plane and thrown myself off cliffs, so I'm up for some adventure/risk.

If you're going to shoot me into orbit for free, hell yeah. I may need a diaper change or two, but I couldn't turn it down.

As a further elaboration, on such an endeavor I would hold the entire operation to the highest safety standards. Not vague marketing mumbo jumbo but specific standards I am well versed in such as DO-178b/c and ISO-26262 that exist to identify and mitigate design and operational risk to an acceptable margin.

I have done a lot of extreme adventures over the years, mostly in the form of solo off-trail backpacking / climbing trips. For example, this was taken a few years ago. On this trip, I did 60 miles off trail in Wyoming's Wind River Range. This was taken the morning after being forced to camp at 12,000 feet on a high plateau due to being caught in a storm the night before. I had to pile rocks around my tent to keep from getting blown off the mountain.

Keeping yourself strong and fit is the most important thing.

First I'd check the equipment for "macguivery jerryriggedness"

Thanks, and no it's too late to edit. I was actually thinking about the Netflix documentary about Whakaari where a tour group was visiting when it unexpectedly erupted killing several people.
