We've had well over a foot of snow here in Toronto, just today, not counting last night, and it's still coming down pretty good.
Count us here south of TO in Rochester NY as having already a foot easily with another foot expected overnight. I've snow blowed my driveway twice already to stay on top of it as my plow service doesn't plow during the storm.. Go figure.. LOL
Great sleeding weather tomorrow though. kids will love it.
Tim-
I always like to keep ahead of things, but can't with this one - I shovelled three times last night and just finished my fourth go today - each time today it was about 4 to 6 inches - this old back has had enough - supposed to be warming up and sunny tomorrow so should be one giant pile of dirty slush in a few days but for now stranded inside. If you're in Rochester, that means the storm must be circling around Lake Ontario and heading south now to meet up with its other parts coming north.
Good luck to you and hope your kids have lots of fun!
Thanks Brother! I lived in Edmonton for a few years in the early 90's and their winters were bad, but nothing compared to Sudbury ON. Man-o-man, Sudbury winters are brutal, but snow machining is booming up there.
This, what we have here today and expected overnight is nothing. I suspect a Sudbury native would call it a light dusting.

32 inches, or up to my waist, in the front yard and road. And still work is hounding me to come in.

Hampton beach. My In-Laws shared this picture on Facebook, they got hammered.
Thanks!
Lol! Yes, always eggs, milk and bread. So, if you start a business like that, don't forget about the eggs, bread and milk! :2razz:
It's really kind of silly because if you lose power, your eggs and milk are garbage.
I'm a Southern boy so its difficult to relate.
Hope everyone makes it through this safely.
My Bro-in-law who grew up in Michigan told me snow is really fun until it doesn't stop, shuts down the roads, kills your power ( ice I guess ) and makes you a prisoner in your own home.
After its cleared ( piled up by the city or state ) in parking lots it turns into a mushy brown muck.

yikes. reminds me of an episode of Little House on the Prairie where they all got snowed in.

That would only be a problem if the door was on your second floor.

What? It's a snowstorm. Put the stuff in a cooler and put it outside. When we lived in the Chicago burbs the snowdrifts near the door looked like they were growing beer bottles.
So do you think anybody up there learned anything from the hurricane or will they be sitting around hungry and cold waiting for FEMA again?

I always used to include Beer in that list...And no, your perishables are not bad if you lose power, at least in winter....The great thing about that is a cooler on the back porch packed with what you want to keep cold will serve just fine.....Also, break out the grill for cooking and fire up the fireplace....
Heck, we were prepared enough, as a truck driver, I have a lot of things that can either run on batteries, or charge by plugging them into the the car, including a TV, so, as long as you can stay warm, and prepare meals, we used to use the time to get a little family time, playing cards, and games, and such....
