Japanese government official Yoshihide Suga condemned the latest video as "outrageous and unacceptable".
It is certain that our own USA is pressuring Japan to war against ISIL and hopefully Japan will resist that pressure. Will Japan go to war with ISIS
It certainly is looking that way, especially if the latest beheading videos are real.

Are beheadings enough to go to war? It seems like in the past we have gone to war over much, much less. I guess it's harder because ISIS isn't technically a country...yet.

Not for Japan, I doubt that Japan has the population support for, political desire for, or economic ability to support going to war with ISIS. Take part in a coalition though, that could be another matter.

Japan has a sizable, competent and well equipped Defense Force partially due to perceived Chinese aggression.

That does not mean they are ready to jump into conflict with ISIS, I'd be surprised if they tried no matter how much you want to argue about Japan's military ability.
But sorrily they do not help producing international security very much.

Yeah, it's really a damn shame that the members of ISIS aren't all concentrated into one location. It would make things much simpler.

The idea that beheading is something terrible seems so ridiculous to me.
Our USA invades Muslim Countries based on our lies and we kill millions of people and displace millions of innocent citizens so what - is our kind of mass murder superior to a few people getting their heads cut off? I say not.
Is our Drone bombs which blow up the people including the killing of bystanders some how a superior form of execution? certainly it is NOT.
Cutting off a person's head is fairly quick and it is done, so are they expected to use a lethal injection instead?
And surely there is no doubt that the USA pressured Japan to NOT pay the ransom money so their blood is on our hands too.
Their constitution (Partially written by your country I might add) precludes them from being able to go on foreign adventures unless there is a direct attack upon their country.
This could change if the current government gets its way but even then, such a move would be very controversial with the Japanese public.
The 600 some change Japanese Soldiers sent into Iraq under the Koizumi administration was controversial enough.

Perceived?
I am extremely biased in this regard as I believe categorically the Islands belong to Japan.
But China has been flexing its muscles not just against the Senkaku Islands but also against many others, Vietnam, Philippines etc.
Japan is in no national danger though.
I've seen the geography of Southern Japan and their military capabilities.
China could never invade effectively, not that they would anyway.
The Senkaku as I understand has more to do with historical grievances and resources... not exactly new the the Japanese - Chinese relationship dynamic.
