You could try engaging your brain and realize that when a gun is being carried in a holster it is in use, and therefore does not need to be safely stored.

They aren't. They are using their guns, and therefore do not need to safely store them while the guns are in use.

How about this, my gun is in use. Sitting next to my bed if needed. Just like a police officers duty weapon is in use sitting in his holster, ready for use.
And if I am carrying it, by your standard its in use. Rediculous as that is.

Your gun can't be in use if you're asleep. If you're asleep, your gun should be unloaded, period.

And so police officers and military personal should unload there weapons before sleep? I now allot of soldiers in the field and officers who would be laughing at that statement. But hell you obviously know more about weapons then they do.
