This ugly monstrosity is so unpopular Tesla is having to scramble to find places to store the unsold vehicles.

CNN Despite Elon Musk’s bold predictions, the Cybertruck is, officially, a flop.

Tesla is deliberately opaque about its sales numbers on specific models, so you have to squint to get a sense of just how badly the company’s unique pickup truck is performing in the real world.

Cybertruck sales have faced a number of challenges:

-Its $80,000-$100,000 price tag.
-The imminent erasure of EV tax credits.
-Its oddball design.
-Repeated recalls, including one for an exterior steel panel falling off while the truck is moving.
-The roughly 200-mile real-world range reported by owners, rather than the 500-mile range that was initially promised.
-The lack of the initially-promised range extender, which quietly disappeared.
-The vehicle’s intractable affiliation with the world’s wealthiest wannabe-oligarch.
-The 7,000-pound car has become a symbol of the MAGA right wing and a target of vandalism.

Tesla has stopped accepting the Cybertruck as a trade-in and has ceased production of some models because they can't keep up with repairs.

Oh also they rust...

Maybe there is an iconic film series on the horizon?

I see those hideous things on the interstate and I just think, why?

The people who buy those things are invariably muscle-bound white guys with beards, no-doubt trying to reinforce their sense of macho. Their previous vehicle was probably a Hummer.

When I see one I always feel like yelling "sorry about your dick!".

One reason is it looks like crap warmed over.

Every century needs its Edsel.
Edsel was a fine car. It was ahead of its time and the public wasn’t demanding what it offered.

Also, it came out at an economic downturn and was priced too high.

The hypocrisy of the left is amusing.

It used to be that the Tesla...including the Cybertruck...was the darling of the left. But when its maker started supporting the target of their TDS, the libs suddenly flip-flopped and now they hate all things Tesla.

btw, for those who, as usual, want to make it about me, let me be clear...I dislike ALL electric cars for reasons too many to list here. Bottom line: Electric cars are just not ready for prime time.

Um, it was a product disaster so speculator that it's very name has become synonymous with failure.

LOL, now that is a true postapocalyptic look for a vehicle. 200 mile range instead of 500. Hated by liberals. Hated by MAGA. Losing subsidies. Costs $100,000, while BYD is making electric cars for $10,000. Oh yeah, this is prime evidence that putting billionaires in charge of an efficient, modern capitalist society ... is bollocks.

The real tragedy is that he could have built a small, two-door, regular cab 4WD electric pickup - something practical, affordable, and actually useful - and it would've sold like the proverbial hotcakes, because there are no small trucks on the market due to cafe regulations. Instead, we got a stainless steel meme/dumpster/shitbox/ "truck" thing.

Rivian got it right.

Which both parties are preventing us from buying.

Rivian got it right.

No, the Rivian is mid-size, it weighs 7000 lbs. Comes 4 door only. Focused on luxury. Expensive, starts at 70k. The Rivian truck is a model X with a bed.

What's not to love about an ugly vehicle?

The designer of this car is resting easy knowing that it this is now the second uglies car in history

I don't think they rust. The above is actually a wrap and I'm not sure that video is legit. Stainless steel will not rust like that unless it is subjected to extremely harsh conditions, so to look that bad in a very short time is probably not possible unless exposed to chemicals of some type.

In any case, they are extremely ugly, and I must say that every time I see one in person I wonder what kind of douche nozzle owns it.
