Why potential mass murderers choose the AR-15 and other assault style rifles

I swear, you are getting downright Trumpian in the manner in which your posts go hither and yon without making any real sense. And there have indeed been a number of NRA types who have, over the past couple of weeks, stated that the AR-15 is “not” a good weapon for mass murder because there are more effective ones out there. To which I usually reply in a sarcastic manner that perhaps they should hold a seminar for potential mass murderers in order to educate them as to which weapons are most effective in that regard. Their comments are nonsensical, and I treat them as such. If you are not keeping up with the conversations, you are welcome to go back and find them.

You castigate others, saying they "should hold a seminar for potential mass murderers", while that is almost the entire theme of your "argument" here.

One long, drawn-out advertisement of the AR-15 as the best thing for mass murder, ever.

Even your criticism of others is based on their non acceptance of your opinion of the best thing for mass murder ever.

Work on your self awareness.

Yeah no.
The fact is..yes..the ar 15 is not a great choice of weapon for " mass killing".

DESPITE THE LIBERAL TALKING POINTS THAT IT IS.

Points the YOU CITED.
A simple search by you resulted in an AI overview of liberal talking points extolling the ar 15 as the perfect killing tool for mass killers.

You asked " why would a mass killer choose an ar 15".

Well a logical reason would be that tge mass killer searched the internet and media and saw that the ar 15 was portrayed as a " weapon of war...designed to kill as many innocents as possible.

The same search you did
..and then cited..

If the mass killer really knew about firearms? They likely wouldn't choose an ar 15. ( with caveats to that).

So..face it..you and the liberal media are likely the main reason that shooters choose the ar 15.

People wanting to be mass killers almost always choose a gun
Except when access to guns is denied to them.

The fact is..yes..the ar 15 is not a great choice of weapon for " mass killing".

So you are still thinking about giving a seminar for potential mass killers to tell them what gun is better to use than an
AR-15?

A simple search by you resulted in an AI overview of liberal talking points extolling the ar 15 as the perfect killing tool for mass killers.

It has nothing to do with “liberal talking points”. It is a summary of the probable reasons from the point of view of potential mass killers.

Well a logical reason would be that tge mass killer searched the internet and media and saw that the ar 15 was portrayed as a " weapon of war...designed to kill as many innocents as possible.

Searched the Internet and saw a plethora videos of gun “enthusiasts” blowing apart watermelons and “chopping down” small trees with a volley of AR-15 ammo. When they see such demonstrations, they have found what they were looking for in a mass killing weapon.

Well a logical reason would be that tge mass killer searched the internet and media and saw that the ar 15 was portrayed as a " weapon of war...designed to kill as many innocents as possible.

Yes, that’s what the videos show.

If the mass killer really knew about firearms? They likely wouldn't choose an ar 15.

See my first sentence above,
So..face it..you and the liberal media are likely the main reason that shooters choose the ar 15.

Lie no matter how often you post it. The OP stands.

Your biggest disagreement is over which gun is best for mass murder.

But only you and the Gun Control Industry promote a certain gun as that.

1. Wtf. Stop lying. Dude you arevthe one putting on " a seminar" for mass killers by glorifying them and the ar 15.
2. They are liberal talking points.
They are certainly NOT from the point of a mass shooter since they are not being consulted...lol.
3. No you didn't. But anyway. " shooting at watermelons and trees?".
Compare to " weapons of war" and the other liberal talking points? Come now. Lol.
I can find videos of people shooting watermelons with compound bows.

4. The videos show mass killings? No. What they find is your liberal talking points explaining that tge ar 15 is the " perfect weapon for mass killing.".
5. Hah. You don't want to admit reality.

Last sentence: yet more projection. All that you have yet again is the NRA talking point that I have seen perhaps hundreds of times over the years regarding mass killers supposedly selecting AR-15s because of “liberal talking points”. That makes no sense, especially when there are dozens and dozens of videos online showing just how much destruction can be caused due to the relatively rapid fire, large magazines, and the results of bullet impact. Perhaps if the NRA types weren’t so dedicated to showing just how destructive the results of the AR-15 is, that so many of the mass killers would not choose it as their “go to” weapon. They clealry see it as most effective in accomplishing their evil mission,

Did you look up any videos about the destruction that can be wrought with handguns or shotguns, before deciding to pimp the AR-15 as the best choice for mass murder?

Ever seen the aftermath of a pedestrian hit and run vehicular homicide? If destruction is impressive to you, that sight would probably sear into your memories to be revisited in your dreams.

The largest death toll a mass murderer achieved with a rifle, was achieved with a rifle that is typically exempted from "assault weapon bans". The largest death toll in a US school shooting, was achieved using handguns. The largest death toll achieved by mass murderers using other than firearms, was achieved by those using devices generally better known for transportation. And those are well higher than any using firearms.

Yeah no.
You are just deflecting from the points I've made..which you can't refute.

1. The ar 15 is not the " perfect killing machine".and it wasn't designed to be.
2. Mass shooters rarely use ar 15s.
3. Liberal talking points about the lethality of ar 15s permeates the media and internet. And is likley responsible for why some mass shooters choose them.

There are tons of videos showing destruction power of large caliber rifles..
Destructive power of bows.
Destructive power of crossbows and pneumatic rifles.
Destructive power of handguns..
And blackpowder..

Liberal talking points SPEAK SPECIFICALLY for the us of the ar 15 for MASS SHOOTING.

Stop your bs.

The ar 15 is not the " perfect killing machine".and it wasn't designed to be.

I never said that. I’ve never seen anyone say that. Why are doing some more strawman lying?

Mass shooters rarely use ar 15s.

Another lie. It has become the primary weapon used in mask shootings over the past few years, and you can’t show otherwise, which is why you haven’t even tried.

Liberal talking points about the lethality of ar 15s permeates the media and internet. And is likley responsible for why some mass shooters choose them.

Ridiculous claim. You are welcome to show me some of these items by liberals that supposedly that “permeate the media” of you would like. When I put “AR-15” into Google, what I get is ad after ad after ad selling them. That is what REALLY permeates the Internet.

There are tons of videos showing destruction power of large caliber rifles..
Destructive power of bows.
Destructive power of crossbows and pneumatic rifles.
Destructive power of handguns..
And blackpowder..

Delflection. None of this has anything to do with a person who might be researching the potential for a mass killing. Please try to stay on topic.

Liberal talking points SPEAK SPECIFICALLY for the us of the ar 15 for MASS SHOOTING.

Wrong. They are not talking points. They are facts. Very sad facts. If it was up to liberals, these killing machines would be banned. They are not good for hunting or for defense, and their main use seems to be for rubes to seem manly by making videos of themselves destroying stuff with them.

I never said that. I’ve never seen anyone say that. Why are doing some more strawman lying?

Why would pistols not be the focus, given they are used in mass killings more often than rifles?
Wrong. They are not talking points. They are facts. Very sad facts. If it was up to liberals, these killing machines would be banned. They are not good for hunting or for defense, and their main use seems to be for rubes to seem manly by making videos of themselves destroying stuff with them.

Says the guy who claims to be a doctor, livestock farm owners, former policeman, former MMA fighter and former gun store owner

Kettle....pot....black.
Are you calling me a liar rich?

1. So it's not the best weapon for mass shooting? You need to make up your mind...lol
2. Yep..I can prove otherwise.

" Notably, most individuals who engaged in mass shootings used handguns (77.2%), and 25.1% used assault rifles in the commission of their crimes".

3. Your own citation proves that watsup.
You are tge one that cited an AI Overview that was chock full of liberal talking points. Did you forget already. Or do you just want to ignore what you say when it backfires on you.

4. Sure it does. You did a search and cited liberal talking points about tge ar 15 being designed to kill lots of people etc.

5. Oh..so NOW the liberal talking points DO EXIST. Lol. You are all Ober the place.

And no..they are not facts.

Tell you what..give me your logical reasons an ar 15 is not good for defense nor for hunting.

Show us your expertise in firearms.
.lmao.

So it's not the best weapon for mass shooting? You need to make up your mind...lol

You are the one who inserted the word "perfect", not me. Now you are lying about it again. Why do you continue to be so dishonest?

Notably, most individuals who engaged in mass shootings used handguns (77.2%), and 25.1% used assault rifles in the commission of their crimes".

We are not talking "the last 50 years". My statement is normally that they "have become increasingly popular" as the weapon of choice for mass murderers, which is totally true. On another thread, I showed the mass murders committed with an assault style rifle in the past 10 years or so. Why did the Las Vegas shooter choose an assault style rifle? Would a handgun have worked just as well? You are welcome to post a list of handgun mass murders in recent times, just as I have done for assault style rifles.

You are tge one that cited an AI Overview that was chock full of liberal talking points.

They are not "liberal talking points". They are actualities. Here are a couple of paragraphs from the OP. Tell me what part of them are wrong.

"The mass shooting this past April at an Indianapolis FedEx facility has something in common with the deadliest massacres - the AR-15 semiautomatic rifle. Variations of the AR-15 were used to kill at a Boulder, Colorado, supermarket, a Pittsburgh synagogue, Texas church, a Las Vegas concert, a high school in Florida, and Sandy Hook Elementary School. Handguns kill far more people. But the AR-15 is the choice of our worst mass murderers. AR-15 ammunition travels three times the speed of sound."

"The AR-15 assault rifle was engineered to create what one of its designers called “maximum wound effect.” Its tiny bullets – needle-nosed and weighing less than four grams – travel nearly three times the speed of sound. As the bullet strikes the body, the payload of kinetic energy rips open a cavity inside the flesh – essentially inert space – which collapses back on itself, destroying inelastic tissue, including nerves, blood vessels and vital organs. “It’s a perfect killing machine,” says Dr. Peter Rhee, a leading trauma surgeon and retired captain with 24 years of active-duty service in the Navy."

So there you have it. It was not me who called the weapon a "perfect killing machine", it was a trauma surgeon who is retired from the Navy. If you don''t agree with him, write him a letter.

1. Privarication on your part
2. Oh..so you cherry pick the mass shootings to make your point. Got it.

Here is one from 2009 to 2013..hardly your 50 years ago.

"The survey findings indicate that mass shootings compose a small share of the total number of U.S. firearm homicides, constituting less than one percent of gun murders recorded by the FBI in 2010. The survey also found that assault weapons or high-capacity magazines were used in at least 13 (23 percent) of the incidents."

3. Ahh.".the perfect killing machine"..but your liberal talking points never said that. Got it.
Okay. This trauma surgeon is a moron who doesn't understand terminal ballistics.

First of all..this 3 x the speed of sound?

Many venerable hunting cartridges attain that or faster.. with a bullet 3 x as large or larger.
Imagine that impact on human flesh Not to mention the ability to shoot through cover..doors..walls etc. .

The typicall 55g 5.56 bullet is a full metal jacket..which means it's NOT designed to expand on impact and create a larger wound channel.
What tge doctor describes? Is what EVERY bullet does when it hits flesh.

Bullets designed for killing..i.e. hunting bullets are designed to expand partially to create a larger wound channel..while maintaining a solid base tgat continues to penetrate deeply.

That's the opposite of tge standard 5.56 fmj round.

I don't need to send a letter to retired navy man. I am quite sure that the military weapons experts have set him straight.

You're not saying anything. This is all just quibbling. What you have not done is to explain away why the AR-15 has become such a popular weapon for mass shooters and presidential assassins.

He's given you one possible explanation that you reject.

And after rejecting it, you go on with more touting of the AR-15 as the fashionable must-have for the well accessorized mass murderer.

As pointed out. It's not...studies I cited showed handguns are more popular with mass shooters.

Though I have pointed out that the ar 15 would gain popularity because of all the hype you liberals have given it.

And both are basically lies, as I have pointed out in my more in-depth analyses. But I don’t really expect the NRA types to do anything but to stay on the surface of the conversation by continuing to parrot NRA talking points. Is it an NRA talking point? Of course it is. I have heard it for years and years from multiple NRA types every time there is a mass killing using an assault style rifle, trying somehow desperately to blame it on liberals rather than in the easy access to such weapons. Sorry, but it’s still a fail. As I said, turns out that it is now the go-to weapon for potential presidential assassins.

Um no.. no lies. I cited two studies showing handguns were the predominant weapon used.

The only one lying here is you.

Sure it's an nra talking point. that's because unlike you...the NRA understands firearms..

I thought the golf course potential assassin used an SKS?
