OK. Let me rephrase. Universal healthcare will not be free to the rich or to working families, but it will be free to the unemployed, the disabled, the retired, the lazy, the diseased, the drug addicts, the alcoholics, the illegal immigrant and so forth.
'Tax the fire out of the rich?' What that means is taxing the rich from 85% to 95% who do not have their assets protected from the IRS through foundations, trusts, secret accounts, overseas shelters, and so forth.
What might be gained in new income from such high taxation? Maybe tens of billions of dollars. What might be lost to economic activity by such high taxation? Maybe hundreds of billions of dollars in lost jobs and businesses.
