Trump has zero political experience, speaks with the eloquence of a particularly uneducated rock, seems to possess no political philosophies, what he does believe appears to be influenced by what he had for breakfast, and he frigging dominates the "pants on fire" page on Politifact. And finally, he's fragmenting the GOP and giving them the worst pr job in modern history. What's your favorite pet theory for why he's truly running for president?

Why does every politician run for office? They think they're so awesome that they deserve to lead a bunch of people.

maybe to piss off people who think as you do. No doubt he has a big ego but then again, that is sort of a given for anyone running for president. Why is Shrillary running for president? she wants to be the center of attention like her husband was?

Good or bad, most politicians have a functioning political philosophy.

maybe he thinks if a guy who had so little real world accomplishments as Obama can be president, so could he

I just think he did it because he was bored. He will try to win if he finds it entertaining enough.

It's immigration. He's the only one who been outspoken about it from the beginning, and he's more trustworthy on this than the GOP elite who have done nothing for decades.

66% of likely Republican voters are fine with banning Muslim immigration. It's a serious issue, and he's the only one who was really serious about it.

Really? You're going to give me the "You mad bro" response?

Hillary has changed her position on a few things based on public opinion, gay marriage being probably the most obvious example. But based on her record you know what she is: a corporatist with a left leaning social platform. When I vote for Clinton in November, I'll know what I'm getting. You can't honestly claim to know what you'll be getting in January when you vote for Trump in November.

He's also the one that said that we should build a ****ing wall between the US and Mexico, and somehow make them pay for it.

Because he's the most awesomest fellow around, and he's going to save the world. Make America great again! Build a golf course in the Rose Garden. Play footsie with Carla Bruni at a state dinner. Put his private jets in storage for 4 years and let the taxpayers pay to fly him around. Lock up those nasty evil Muslim peoples. Remove frijoles and tamales from the menus of every restaurant in the United States. Show up Rosie O'Donnell.

But since none of those choices were available, I had to go with the trophy one.

Good or bad, most politicians have a functioning political philosophy.

The last successful Republican president didn't have a functioning political philosophy, unless "talking to God" for when you conduct wars counts as a "functioning political philosophy." That's not really different than "Make good deals for Trump, not bad deals."

that's a good point. I know that Hilary will try to ban guns. She will try to pander to the feminist left, blacks and other groups who see conservative white males as the enemy. She will most likely appoint judges and justices who think that white conservative males have had too many "breaks" and that the courts should even things up. IN other words, I have no doubt she will be awful. Her party is the party of gun bans and tax hikes as well and I suggest she will continue those programs

Trump I cannot say I know exactly what he will do or what sort of judges and justices he will appoint. at the lower levels, we will get the same district court and appellate court (save perhaps in the DC court of appeals) judges that we would get with Bush, Christie, Kasich, Rubio or Cruz. People who are LESS Likely to pretend that the second amendment doesn't really exist or that the commerce clause allows congress unlimited powers than their Democrat counterparts. I doubt banning guns will be a major goal of Trump.

so I know with Cankles I will get an awful president whose agenda is designed to attack many of the values I support. Trump might suck but no where nearly as badly as the lying bitch

Read his positions page. He's very clear about how he's going to have them pay for it.

Donald Trump Positions Page said:
Mexico must pay for the wall and, until they do, the United States will, among other things: impound all remittance payments derived from illegal wages; increase fees on all temporary visas issued to Mexican CEOs and diplomats (and if necessary cancel them); increase fees on all border crossing cards – of which we issue about 1 million to Mexican nationals each year (a major source of visa overstays); increase fees on all NAFTA worker visas from Mexico (another major source of overstays); and increase fees at ports of entry to the United States from Mexico [Tariffs and foreign aid cuts are also options]. We will not be taken advantage of anymore.

That impounding of all remittance payments would be huge.

Who gives a **** how he thinks he's going to have them pay for it?! The entire idea of a giant wall between the US and Mexico is just plain unrealistic, and is never ever, ever, ever going to happen. Even if Trump actually becomes POTUS, there's no way in hell that the Wall of Trump would ever be built.

probably right-its too expensive. Now a mine field and a free fire zone is far more plausible:mrgreen: just think, missile packing drones patrolling the border!

You should have had "Other" for a category. I think he is tired of buying politicians, so he wants to cut out the middleman and just be the president himself!

Maybe Trump can put a Casino strip along the Wall of Trump, and have Mexicans gamble for their citizenship.

That's an interesting site......

However, not one of those ideas is legal, well maybe the fees on visas, whoopie ****, what? at least $5 million. And, well NAFTA is a done deal. The legal consequences in court costs alone would bankrupt the country.

Oh wait, yeah that's right, Trump has been bankrupt before..."it's no big deal". He said.

I believe he initially never intended to successfully run, at least as defined by winning the primary or the Presidency. For him, it was initially a PR move at worse, and an opportunity to present his message as best.

He then immediately and unexpectedly caught-on, and being an adroit business man - he ran with it! And viola'!

In support of the above, I point to his lack of campaign infrastructure until it became apparent he was competitive.

I am convinced he got the idea when he forced Obama to release his birth certificate.

Let's not forget his "birther" roots

That's a reasonable supposition, I think.

But I still doubt he ever perceived how wildly popular he'd become.

Now if he did, well then he really is genius.

That came from his days as a Hillary supporter. We all know that the birther movement was started by her supporters. And we all know that he was a big Hillary supporter in 2008. He was probably the original birther.

Trump was the "OG" of the Birther Movement.
