Many people make decisions on their beliefs and not the facts when it comes to things like Covid vaccines. The make their decisions by reading or watching media that agree with their beliefs and they base their actions on what they have read or watched and facts will not change their minds. I am old enough to have had a smallpox vaccine and polio shots and people then believed in facts and science and we no long fear either of those viruses that killed or damaged millions before the vaccines were available. Today whether it is political, religious or just stupidity people are refusing the vaccine and this virus will go on and on and on until it kills millions more. At some point the virus will mutate and the vaccines we presently have will no longer be effective and then the country and the world will certainly be in big trouble, all because people make their decisions on their beliefs.

You make an important point here: we now have a media and political situation where people are catered to with lies, to get their vote/support/money. Some people want to be told lies about the virus, and so people make youtube videos and give political speeches telling them what they want, and are compensated with views and political support. Even if they don't 'want to', they are a gullible market and reward the lies.

But let's also be clear that you're describing the US. Billions of the people in the world would love to get vaccinated, if the rich countries weren't so selfish about it.

This is a direct result of poisoning science with politics. People stop trusting what the scientific community claims.

If people no longer trust the scientific community they have nobody to blame but themselves.
