Why do racist democrats try to blame their history on republicans?

Slavery, democrats did that. Jim Crowe, also democrats. Segregation, democrats. The KKK, yes you guessed it, also democrats.

Meanwhile the Republican party was founded to end slavery, and led by Abraham Lincoln.

In today's America, on college campuses the democrats have reintroduced segregation, having all black graduation ceremonies, so that evil whites will not spoil the event.

Dont kid yourself, Republicans abandoned Blacks and Reconstruction and embraced white supremacy every bit as much as Democrats did.

Today, it is Republicans fighting to preserve the monuments of the defenders of slavery and the Klan.

Today, it is the Republican SCOTUS gutting the Voting Rights Act.

Today, it is Republicans attempting a census to undercount communtires wher Blacks tend to live.

Today, it is Republicans who are disenfrancising Blacks.

Today, it is Republicans who embrace the Birther King.

Have read every page of this thread -- all I can say is WTF!! The historical ignorance of the OP and other posters is mind-boggling.

The OP was correct in saying the GOP was founded on opposition to slavery BUT not so much on the abolition of slavery, it was more on the expansion of slavery outside of the mainly agricultural Southern states into the new West.

Following the War, during the Reconstruction period, the Republicans became more focused on big business.

It is a deliberate attempt to replace history with propaganda.

They are addicted to welfare. Which is what destroys them. The Demon Rats take advantage of them.

This post has echoes of the old slave owners lamenting the influence of abolitionists.

Slightly off topic but this thread is yet one more example of the childishness found in the writings of some who place themselves on the right side of the political spectrum.

"democrat" "democrap" "demorat" etc. The slightly more adult, maybe they are 13 or 14 years old, will at least capitalise "Democrat Party".

Q: Is it the “Democratic” Party or the “Democrat” Party?

A: The proper term is “Democratic Party.”

. . . some Republican leaders have made a habit of referring to their opposition incorrectly and discourteously as the “Democrat Party.” The reason isn’t entirely clear; it may be meant to imply that the party isn’t sufficiently “democratic” in the general sense, or may just be meant as a petty insult. In August 2006, Hendrik Hertzberg traced this Republican usage, which he termed a “slur” on his party, back to the 1940s. He says it was used by opponents to needle the powerful Pendergast organization in Kansas City, which backed Harry Truman. He also says it was used often by the late Sen. Joseph McCarthy.

More recently, President Bush has used the term regularly, even employing it in his 2007 State of the Union address when he said, “I congratulate the Democrat majority” in Congress

I'll go with "petty insult" for many but for others it appears to be more a result of ignorance or a lack of serious education.

Why ate you suggesting that?

It's the only reason I can think of why blacks would vote 90% for democrats. They are the most racially polarized voting group. The alternative is that blacks, as a general rule, are so obsessed with global warming and/or LGBT issues that they need to vote 90% for democrats.

Hear hear. tRump/low life rat in the WH supporter Repugnants being nazis and racists being a given.

That happens a lot around here. Rabid, foaming at the mouth flame baiting for all to see. Anyone who doesn't follow in lockstep is being insulted. Of course some are more educated than others and do it more cleverly.

Here we go again.

Dems promise free stuff and point and say GOP are Racist vote for us....how's that worked out in Chicago for the last 40 years?

So you are saying black people are moochers looking for handouts. Way to go after the black vote there sport.

Because it wasn't a Republican vs Democrat issue. It was a North vs South issue.

Southern Republicans were just as racist as Southern Democrats.

I hope this clears things up for you.

More simply put, it was always and still is, a conservative vs liberal thing. Those stupid enough to believe the OP don't believe the Southern Strategy happened. Therefore what they DO believe is that the entire South one day up and decided... "WE ARE ALL NO LONGER LIBERALS AND ARE NOW CONSERVATIVES!"... all in unison. Just like that. This is what they actually believe.

they've been controlled by fear of the boogieman.....its changing...2020 will be a little better..wait see...patience

Kanye questioning the Dems hate was a big step

And what "boogieman" is that exactly? Also, perhaps you can site a poll of all this black gain in support for trump? Because final polling had Hillary at 88% African American support and Trump at 8%. Can you show that 80 point gap closing or are we all just supposed to take your word for it?

and why is that? Successful fear mongering could be part of it. Voting party line, no matter what, is another reason. I pity people who do that.

So blacks are afraid to vote Republican?

Because the Republican party was formed to end slavery, led by Republican Abraham Lincoln

And the South punished the GOP for 100 years politically for having been the party of Lincoln.

What part of Democrats are evil do you not understand?

Yeah... the flaming ignorance of the op and this post show that this thread is 100% troll-bait.

More Republicans voted for "civil rights" than dems, and LBJ was a racist. There is no evidence that FDR, Truman, or JFK supported any level of civil rights as you put it

Flat out lie.

Here are the civil rights vote totals by party.

But this is more illustrative... Vote totals by party and region.

Note: "Southern", as used in this section, refers to members of Congress from the eleven states that had made up the Confederate States of America in the American Civil War. "Northern" refers to members from the other 39 states, regardless of the geographic location of those states.[23]

The original House version:

Southern Democrats: 7–87 (7–93%)
Southern Republicans: 0–10 (0–100%)
Northern Democrats: 145–9 (94–6%)
Northern Republicans: 138–24 (85–15%)

The Senate version:

Southern Democrats: 1–20 (5–95%) (only Ralph Yarborough of Texas voted in favor)
Southern Republicans: 0–1 (0–100%) (John Tower of Texas)
Northern Democrats: 45–1 (98–2%) (only Robert Byrd of West Virginia voted against)
Northern Republicans: 27–5 (84–16%)
