Why do men want to control women?

I am putting it here because the topic goes beyond abortion. For example, some abortion opponents say women would be blessed if they lived a traditional lifestyle: married stay at home moms like the Puritans. But these same people talk about wanting men to force women to stay pregnant the whole nine months. They claim iti s right for women to be paid less than men and more men than women to be employed. I even read suggestions women should enjoy being raped. What they really want to do is control women, not bless them.

Meanwhile, these male posters always refuse to accept the fact that incest and rape are always their fault. They refuse to accept the fact that if a raped woman gets an abortion, it is not her fault that she needed one. They refuse to accept any responsibility at for failing to wear condoms or being the sexual intercourse perpetrator while the same men criticize women for spreading their legs a part or wearing the wrong clothing. It is always "Men are good and women are bad." They only want to blame the women for their own sins.

Ironically, many of the men who say this crap are married. If a man hates women, he must want to be single his entire life or gay. It makes no sense that married men constantly make misogynistic comments whether it is related to employment, sexual activity, etc.
Frustrated men always want to control women. They even invent religions so they can do so.

But women naturally are more frustrated because of their perceived (yet totally false) inferiority. Are you comparing frustrated men with other men?

I have never heard anyone argue that it is "right" for women to be paid less than women assuming all else is equal (I have seen many point out that the so-called pay gap is generally due to all things - such as experience and hours worked - not being equal) or that women should enjoy being raped.

Respectfully, you have an unfortunate habit of starting debates with statements that you believe to be true, but which turn out on inspection to be incorrect. Can you please provide evidence of men in this forum arguing that women should enjoy being raped?

Meanwhile, these male posters always refuse to accept the fact that incest and rape are always their fault.

This, for example, is also untrue, both as a specific, and as a categorical answer

1. Women also perpetrate rape and incest; it is simply that the majority of such perpetrators are men.
2. The actions of those men and women are not the fault of any poster here. We are all responsible only for what we do and fail to do.

Why do men want to control women?

For the same reason women want to control men.
They're stupid and possibly a little crazy, and they need guidance to stay out of trouble.

The Christians I am thinking of aren't to interested in the teachings of Jesus, but they are quite taken by their own interpretation of the story of the Garden of Eden.

"Our culture today views the body as inherently sinful; this belief is treated as an axiom beyond challenge. Sex is especially sinful -- and the final responsibility for the evil of sex and of the body is located in woman. Adam would not have sinned but for Eve's initial transgression.

Evil is located in woman, and in her body and its potentialities. Such evil must be channeled and controlled: it must be brought under the whip of righteousness. The campaign to limit or even eliminate abortion is not about pregnancy or the fetus at all: it is about controlling the body, and controlling pleasure, especially sexual pleasure.

For the most part, men run the world. They are not interested in controlling themselves, and they will still pursue their own pleasure as they choose -- but evil must be resisted. So they turn to their eternal scapegoat, and what they view as the final source of evil in this world, the barrier between themselves and redemption: woman. If our world and men are to be saved, they must be saved from woman."

Of Abortion, and Women as the Ultimate Source of Evil

One doesn't need to be a Christian to think this way because it is steeped in our culture.

Respectfully, this is a blog post by someone who doesn't appear to understand their political opponents very well. If anything, traditional culture has held women up as more generally virtuous than men (which is also wrong and contrary to Biblical teachings - we are all fallen bearers of the Imago Dei)

Additionally, it is worth pointing out, according to the Genesis account that this article seeks to make much of: Adam's sin was there in Eve's eating as well - the man apparently abandoned his wife to deal with the devil herself.

Those that have unearned power often go to great lengths to maintain it.

I think the OP needs to either take a deep breath and step back from the keyboard, or have their meds checked. Men aren't the enemy. Women aren't the enemy.

Teeny tiny insecure dudes. They have no power to control their own environment, so they attempt to control women.

That's really all there is to it.

Jesus told us to love our neighbors, not love our male neighbors. He was talking about both sexes.
There is your ****ing problem in a nutshell.
A male orientated religion that vilify women as an excuse for the actions of men. Starting right with the fantasy first women being the cause of sin.

This thread really is not going anywhere using a misogynistic religion as its basis. Try getting out of the thinking that this christian misogynism ideology crap is actually a normal society and do some looking at the real world.

  • The Mosuo women are an isolated ethnic group in China who maintain a matriarchal society.
  • A study shows that these women are happier and healthier than women living in a patriarchal society.
  • Evidence suggests this is due to women having increased autonomy and excellent social support within this community.
  • Wider knowledge would be beneficial on how health is impacted by our culture and its limitations.

I always find it ironic that it is usually some shrill unhappy single woman who feels like women have less power than men do. While happily married women with families are the most content.
Ironically it is that kind of stereotyping that gave a reason for this thread.

Really!!!!

is this your attempt at naivety?

Josie is correct, but Democrats know in reality many companies still break the law and hire more men than women or pay men higher wages than women for the same work.

Both men and women have unearned power.
So it is not the power that is the problem. It is how it is used.

There is an old adage of, men will marry a women hoping they will never change. While women will only marry men they think they can change.

No, it is actually using power that they never had.

Women have had roles of power throughout history. It is not that they have not had power or been in positions of control or at least having autonomy of their own lives.

The often used argument by the pro gun crowd is that women are physically weak therefor need a gun. If a person is told often enough they are weak, they will start to believe it.

If many men who say this crap hate women yet they're happily married then you must be mistaken when you say they hate women.

Just because people disagree with you about something doesn't mean they hate everyone that is the subject of the disagreement.

That seems to be the only issue your talking about here.

Your assumption that disagreement means hate.

You are not really saying that women have equal power to men in the world are you?
I would say they have greater powers in some regards.

They seem to control the development of the species. They have quite a few privileges that men do not. It is wrong to objectify them but necessary to objectify men.
