I see, but shouldn't the issue be that it does not matter who does the brainwashing, but that brainwashing is indeed going on? And how they manage to hide this with their current system, one with no accountability, and where no one is held to account for the many horrors that happen daily there in the M.Eastern countries, that's what concerns me, when will this change?

Well, sure. But the person I was responding to was misrepresenting some of the governments. Just had to point it out.

Enn you're way off, they hate the U.S. because they live in an Orwellian police state that not only tells them what to do but what to think, they are blasted with this propaganda from the cradle to the grave in their t.v. shows, their newspapers, and even in their churches. They spread this anti-American propaganda in order to take the focus off of their own corruption and failures. It's totalitarian power politics 101, the very essence of human nature is to want freedom so the totalitarian states have to contend with human nature in order to maintain control over the populace and the easiest way in which to create this unity is to find someone else to place all of the peoples troubles on; "it's the Jews, it's the U.S., it's the West etc." all the while the true reason for the societies failure remains safely in power while the oblivious populace dances like puppets.
So how do you explain Turkey?

No it's not, they stay clear of those issues, or they die, it's really that simple. Had Saddam made an attempt to control those issues in his country, he would have been dead long ago. It's a fine line they walk, both depend on the other for the control of the populace, but it's accountability that is lost there, this is why democracy is so necessary!
I don't know about that.
Look at how it's going today, the elections have resulted in more and more sectarian governments whose very existance is dependent on religious fanaticism.
Palestine, Iran, and now Iraq all have (are) elected/ing sectarian governments that thrive on suppression and lunacy.
Well... actually hamas seems to be toning down now due to suddenly attaining official control, but nevertheless, this is hamas, 'nough said.

I voted for other because there is another huge source of their hatred for us other than their economic inferiority and other than our conducting foreign policy with our own interests in mind (God forbid) like every other nation on Earth.

They care about virtue. We care about freedom. To them, freedom is only the right to do the wrong thing, so why have it at all? Of course, their way presumes that they have any clue what is meant to be moral for people everywhere.

They are disgusted with our impulse-driven culture of hedonism and moral bankruptcy and they are terrified of the contagion spreading to their world. They are sickened by female promiscuity and women getting to kill their own children to avoid any consequences for their sins. They think that not being confronted with dire consequences for such heinous crimes is the worst possible direction a society could go in. They deplore our abandonment of our families for the ever-important persuit of a more fulfilling careers and personal status. We are utterly corrupt and any concept of community or self-sacrifice is alien to us. We think only of ourselves and that is why our culture is an internally rotting cesspool doomed to fail.

It's actually kind of bizarre, but if you listen to the things Evangelical Christians say about our culture going down the toilet and the criticisms of our culture by seething, bloody Islam, they are nearly identical.

Yes but when virtue is something forced on the citizenry then how can it be considered virtuous? Virtue is not something the government dictates but rather something that is inhearant in a mans heart. You can not force someone to be virtuous virtue can only be achieved through ones own free will.

Is this your opinion? or do you have something to back this up?

Well I think they dislike us for several reasons. But so do a lot of other countries.

It may come as a shock to some people but there are a lot of people who do NOT WANT to become like us, especially in the Muslim world. They hate our guts and many want to wipe us off the planet. They do not want American influence, they do not want our immorality. Can ya blame em?

Who hates us? Take a number.

Take the French for example. We outrage them because we enjoy global domination. They have always thought they were intellectually superior and well..... They think EVERYTHING WE DO is unjustified. Their products can't compete globally and they are left with a few croissants and French perfume.

Then theres China.....they think we are in a social and moral decline. Remember the kid in Singapore that was publically caned for drawing graffiti on walls?

There there is the Middle East....What do they call us, the Great Satan I? We are the land of infidels. It's not just about are foreign policy and support of Israel. They think we are one country anyway.

They want our technology but nothing else. Why? Our principles are totally different. They are a religious land, America is not anymore. We have no religious base and they see us crumbling because of our lack of morals.
They are afraid that if we come into their country... there go their values and culture. We will replace things they have always valued. Things that we don't value anymore.

I have talked to many Muslims and they feel that all Americans care about is money and sex and for the most part they are right. They think woman in America act permissive and are loose. And for the most part we dress and act that way.

Bottom line, religion has stopped influencing and shaping society in America. They do not like that. We were once a religious nation and now they see us in social chaos.....
so....We have become secular, they are not.
Its like the issue of abortion, for me you can't compromise........and for them they can't compromise either, we are to radically different.

Without a second thought authoritarian policy comes to mind.

Perhaps the issue is not a matter of such international sectarian hatred but a matter of lack of diplomacy?

Eh?

We can cherry pick the situation all that we wish on either side.
