Why do liberals use MAGA as an insult?

If a person tells a guy he wants to make his sister great again, and then rapes her, and the guy says "well, who can complain about making her great again" because he can't tell the difference between the first guy saying that and the rape, then he's a good candidate for MAGA.

Anecdote Alert: Of the dozen or more MAGATS I have asked and had a response from, they have ALL given me time frames that were either pre Civil War or Pre Civil Rights Era.

At least one wanted to take us all the way back to the ratification of the Constitution as that being when America was last Great.

No need for the “again.” America remains great in many ways. As I have posted before, Trump’s real message since at least the Central Park Five ads - aside from advocacy of standard issue conservative/republican policies - has really been Make America Hate Again. Blacks, illegals, legal immigrants, Muslims, the media, overseas refugees, nasty women have all been his targets, his pointing out groups for us to resent or fear.

But the use of MAGA as a negative by the left seems to refer to those Trump supporters who, as he himself put it, would remain loyal even if he shot someone on Fifth Avenue.

In addition, the slogan represents a longing for a past, lost glory, sort of like Mussolini’s rhetoric was. Trump is rhetorically fascist, demeaning democracy, praising dictators tactics, an advocate for torture and war crimes.

Forgive me if he has said so, but has Trump ever specified when America was great and how it became un-great? I suspect he is trying to bring up vague memories of what the country was like in the time before the women’s and civil rights movements.
 
While we're on the subject can we stop calling the authoritarian left "liberals"?
