Why Defund PBS?

It is not transmitted by "vapor,"
See you're splitting overly pretentious hairs here. It's transmitted when you're breathing in the same space with someone infected. I need aerosol eyes droplets not actually being vapor the most pedantic attempt to argue I've ever heard come out of you and you're the most pedantic poster on the forum.
and it absolutely does matter, particularly when people are trying to play the "science" card while talking out their asses.

COVID is transmitted through liquid. That's an entirely different state of matter than "air."
When the droplets of viral material are so tiny that they are floating around in the air and take sometimes hours to fall it's again sharing atmosphere with someone who's infected.

Do you remember when fauci said this 6-ft distancing social distancing thing was absolutely made up and had nothing to do with any reality I knew that when people started doing that because infectious droplets don't travel five and a half feet and drop essentially you could be in a giant Warehouse and if there's one other person in there that's breathing heavily and you're in there long enough you're going to get infected.

We all got a crash course in this one that ignoramus started running his mouth.

This is why you can't trust the experts, so many of them are liars.

I like masterpiece theater some of them. But it's behind a paywall. That should be criminal. People should be going to jail for this.
I get digital on my rabbit ears, but I am only about 20 miles from the towers. Are you farther?

Now, imagine they put in some balance, with someone like John Stossel to poke fun at the more ridiculous wastes of public money and the more obnoxious regulatory intrusions. Putting half the staff of The Atlantic on Friday night is not the same.
Or what if they sponsor a documentary that said recycling plastic was a scam by industries who wanted to sell plastic water bottles in order to get people to buy water in a plastic bottle.

I remember a time and my life when people thought buying water in a plastic bottle was dumb. Water comes out of the faucet for free or for pennies.

I used to poke fun at Californios over their designer water. Then I drank a glass of So Cal public water. I don't make fun of them any more (about this at least).

I don't know that person.

I don't know that person.
He used to be to ABC News as Andy Rooney was to 60 Minutes, but more serious. Barbara Walters got him run off, because she found him "disagreeable" (meaning that he often disagreed with her positions). If you Google him, he is available as a podcast. Libertarian leaning and often funny.

All growing up my dad was a civil engineer so I learned all about his drinking water is delivered. Nothing in a bottle comes close to the rigor tap water gets.

I'm Flint Michigan they had an addictive in the water to stop leaching lead from the pipes. Some doofus wanted to cut a few pennies and took it out.

Most tap water is pretty sanitary. However, in the desert, most water is loaded with sulphates, which at least for me, give me the runs. Some people aren't bothered.

Bean counters have been the downfall of many things.

Bean counters?

A message given by socks

Man that is a real reach.
A message given by socks to people of the age that pick their noses and eat boogers. I mean how scientifically literate do you expect pre- schoolers to be? I mean in that age group babies are delivered by the stork OR live in mommy’s tummy …. Not uterus, tummy (which is scientifically wrong).

Bean counters?
The same people who decided to save two bucks per rifle by deleting the chrome lined chamber and bore on M16 rifles, although the designer was clear that this was an essential feature for reliable functioning. Rifles jammed, GIs died. Eventually they started pitching their guns in the mud and picking up Charlie's gun, because it Worked.

I think they come from Harvard business school.

That's probably well water.
Bean counters have been the downfall of many things.
Especially when they make a blunder like that.

Sometimes it's a burden.

So we shouldn't vaccinate anybody against polio because of nobody can be infected the virus is extinct?

There have been pandemics from coronavirus before covid 19 MERS, SARS.

You know why it's difficult to actually against this and flu, and rhinovirus? It's because they transmit and multiply so fast by the time you develop a vaccine if has already mutated.

They had original COVID-19 and within weeks there was the Delta variant and then the omicron variant

Yeah you're bad faith argument is moronic

No that's what you're trying to do.

The Polio virus isn’t extinct yet. We do still have to vaccinate people against it.

Why don’t we have to vaccinate people against smallpox anymore? Is it because the virus is extinct outside of a handful of biowarfare labs? Yes it is.

Because the vaccine stopped the spread of the virus.

No. PBS is lying to children about what vaccines do.

They only protect the person who is vaccinated that cannot protect anyone else. This was understood in the 19th century

No I think the fact show that children were the least affected demographic by the actual virus.

This is dangerously incorrect information. Whatever source told you this is what needs to be defunded, not PBS.

You’re demonstrating a good case why we need PBS.

Just finished the first documentary. Wow. The power Trump has seized is phenomenal. From firing 17 Inspector's General to threatening the full force of the federal government against anyone who stands in his way, weaponizing the DOJ, the FBI, the CIA. Turning ICE into his own lawless military force, it's a tragedy for America. The Constitution is becoming pointless.

We have no separation of the powers of government branches when Congress is afraid of the president.

One of the Inspector's General was interviewed. The IG's were the eyes of Congress on the departments created. This way, the money government spent could be monitored to make sure it was doing what it was supposed to be doing by law. They were the oversight, the whistle blowers for fraud and waste. They were doing a good job. They were given 15 minutes to clean out their desks and escorted outside. These were people who had put years of their lives into the work they did as loyal workers and this is how they are treated. 15 minutes and you're outside.

The real reason those IG's were fired is because they would be the ones to step in if the president tries to take personal control over that department. It was an unprecedented power grab. All of those offices were created because of Nixon. The intent was to ensure no president could seize too much power, that there would be oversight over presidential authority. That has all been blown away. Trump runs anything he decides to stick his nose in.

The final line was chilling. The direction of our country will be defined by how the public sees and understands what's happening and what it chooses to do about it.

The idea that the SCOTUS fears making a major decision that Trump would simply choose to ignore is very concerning. If that happens, our Constitutional structure has been shattered. The SCOTUS has no military, no police, no agency it can order to force the president to do anything. All it has is the rule of law vs a president who absolutely believes that he is above the law and if he decides to do something that automatically makes it legal for him to do it regardless of existing law.

Question: Would our military follow a presidential order that the SCOTUS has said is not permitted?
