Except for those who feel that they must replace Christ with the letter X in (and add the letter s to?) Christmas.
Xmas was started by the Christians, allegedly. The X standing for the cross. I know it doesn't make sense & the cross would be Easter, but there is a lot about Christianity that doesn't make sense. Who knows?

Let us check in with some alleged Christians on this whole War on X?

I think I'll start calling it Jesusmas to annoy people who get annoyed by that sort of thing.

Maybe Sonofjosephmas?
Well if you won (allegedly) you get to write the story. I don't think either really roll off the tongue.

I haven't heard much about the War on Christmas of late. Although merchants I've visited mostly still say Happy Holiday. Happy Holiday is a logical greeting when you don't know what, if any religion a person practices or doesn't. I am personally an atheist & my wife agnostic yet around this time of year our house looks like Santa's village. Christmas has a very secular aspect, based on conspicuous consumption & like Halloween, there is those who don't even grasp the Christian roots of the day.

I'm never offended by anyone wishing me happiness.

If a Jew wishes me "Happy Hanukkah", I accept the wish to share in the happiness in the spirit it is offered.

Interesting...I wondered about that. Not enough to research it but...
Oh I looked into it a couple decades ago when I was first a member on the Bill O'Riley political Forum and the whole "War on Christmas" BS first came to my attention.

Way too much time on my hands, still, I would say!

American Evangelicals, who support loud, rude, angry, hateful, aggressive, materialistic, money-worshipping, spiteful politicians, would be completely unrecognizable to most Christians around the world and throughout history. How did we get here? I think the Koch brothers just found them to be useful tools in their agenda to cut their own personal taxes.

I do my normal Merry Christmas and Happy New Year greetings. If people dont like it, I haven't bothered to notice, and I certainly don't care about their opinion. If people say happy Hanukah or kwanza or whatever I take it in the friendly spirit it is given and return the favor. Come to think of it I don't think I have met a person who was ever seriously peeved at me saying Merry Christmas to them.

I say Merry Christmas. If people don't like it, tough

That being said, there are people tomorrow getting chemo and dying of Covid. That seems more important.

While we are on the topic...

I fondly remember the (figuratively speaking) exploding heads of my fellow Right wingers at the time when OMG OMG OMG that non citizen Muslim Communist cheated his way into the Presidency and he OMG OMG OMG built a Shrine to MAO in the White House!

Remember that?

I was really hoping Senile Old Sleepy Joe Biden would have resurrected that Chicom Worship tradition by once more placing that offending ornament on one of the many White House Holiday Trees!

I voted for the pastafarians since I am a big believer in pasta with pesto sauce. It is winning the war against pizza, it will win the war on drugs and so it might as well take on a Christmas as well.

Happy Pasta to ya...;)

What war?

How did the Allfather not make the list? Odin won the tree, he won the holly and mistletoe decor, he won the feast, he won the gift-giving. Mighty Gungnir never misses.

Did you miss the whole Fox News xenophobic and or nationalistic fake Christmas Tree torching in New York City by some mentally impaired homeless criminal?
Actually the most interesting thing about that was just a week or two ago (I believe it was), there were people on the right having a cow because some Democrat politician (it was the Gov of NY) called it a "holiday tree". And now hosts of Fox were saying the tree represents Hanukkah and other religions/celebrations, but also the burning of it was specifically a hate crime against Christians (at first anyway). The messaging is so convoluted, they don't even know what they are supposed to believe the Christmas tree/Holiday tree really is.

I chose there is no war on christmas. It has nothing to do with Christianity. It popped up about the time Constantine brought the pagans into the church.

Christmas started this war with its relentless attacks on November; peace will only be known until Claus leadership agrees to abide by the Thanksgiving Accords and ends it's illegal occupation of months besides December.

Must see watch. Sam Seder's (comedian, actor, radio talk show host) legendary take down of the "War on Christmas" crowd.

War on Christmas? Idiotic.

For a several generations, Christmas has been about material goods and Wall Street. American retail won the war on Christmas decades ago. But, the day has been invaded more than India.

Moreover, the real Christmas story is the Catholic Church hijacked a pagan holiday celebrating the solstice, declaring the day to celebrate the birth of Christ, who was likely born in the Spring. The Christmas tree a wonderful case in point, as it was holdover from the pagan celebration.

Though I am a strong Christian, I do not pretend that Christmas is more of a day for the family to celebrate Christ coming into the world as a family. But, to me, the celebration is something I reflect on EVERY day.

I do not lose sight of the fact that there are multiple facets to the day. Given that the Catholic Church decided to share the day; I am not certain they have any right to actually own the day. I accept it for what it is.
