He has more negatives than positives in my opinion. One turnoff that I observed about Cruz was when he raced Huckabee to Kentucky to champion the Democrat evangelical clerk who refused marriage certificates to gays. His religious beliefs are fine and dandy except when they skew his understanding and interpretation of the 9th & 14th amendments to our Constitution.

Relative to Her Majesty Hillary, Cruz is surely no worse and maybe better. At least he opposes middle east regime change, Her Majesty promotes it even though G.W. Where to start with this?

Well, right off Ted Cruz is more establishment Republican than he claims otherwise. On the topics of abortion, immigration, drug legalization, government economic involvement, energy and big corporate oil interests (and climate change,) military industrial complex spending, a renewed cold war with Russia, Israel, Gun Control and the 2nd Amendment, marriage equality, and of course ACA and healthcare in general Ted Cruz is most certainly establishment Republican right down the line with little to no exception.

About the only derail is Cruz's stance on monetary policy and the ridiculous suggestion of going back to the Gold Standard that gives some in the party headaches. No matter what he says at the mic, Cruz voted to re-authorize the Patriot Act and voted for the Freedom Act. Neither of which have anything to do with patriotism or freedom and both of which in order keep the NSA and all the designations that gave us the largest government jump in size in our generation. Speaking of, in all the rhetoric on the TSA... they are still around too.

He may be more principled that Trump, but then again just about anyone in this race left or right is more principled than Trump. Ironic, but fairly true. In the end Ted Cruz is establishment with only handful of caveats, and he is taking in plenty of cash from all the usual right wing suspects confirming it.

So who is Ted Cruz really? He is another in a long line of dip****s we do not need in charge of this nation.

A "democratic socialist" is not a communist, but otherwise you are on the right path here. Rand Paul is more or less a Libertarian, but even with that distinction comes other caveats. Bernie Sanders is forcing everyone to evaluate where we fall on our mixed economic model lean, and clearly he would like to tilt the tables more to planned economics.

No matter though, it is unlikely that establishment Republicans would allow Rand Paul to advance anymore than establishment Democrats would allow Sanders to get ahead of Hillary.

Cruz is Trump's best friend at this point. A buffer between Trump and Rubio. It comes down to media...Trump and Cruz. Any mention of Rubio is in relation to Trump or Cruz.

Cruz is smart. He knows he can't win the nomination. He knows that Trump most likely will and definitely will with his support. He is young. he will be content with VP this time or be the leading name in 2020.

What would you call the Military Industrial Complex and the National Drug War? What would you call promoting prohibition on gay's rights to agreeable contracts? What's your definition of BIG government?
