Are you referring to people who came across the pacific from Asia?
It would be an incredibly new concept for hunter-gatherers.
I haven't heard that one before but it sounds like you're saying agriculture is the cause for the loss of fertility
do you have any links for that? I would be interested in reading about it. AFAIK, the changes in the region were caused by climate and possibly aggravated by agricultural practices which used up the fertility. I have never heard of a theory that left climate changes out of it.
PS - I also wonder if part of the reason for so little domestication of animals in the New World might be due to a shortage of domesticable animals on the continent.
That's because most White children who come from money are enrolled in private schools to be segregated from students 'of color' for all the obvious reasons.........
Prove that the second generation doesn't speak English and doesn't participate in American culture and politics.
Yes, I was there yesterday and saw plenty of English signage and plenty of people speaking English. And I'm in La Puente, talk about Latino community, and still 2nd generation are fluent in English, go to pubic school, have iphones and other American culture items,... there is one small grocery that is predominately Spanish language products, but the people working there speak English and have no problem helping an ignorantly uni-lingual 'merican like me. There are also two other grocers same within a block or so that are just your normal Vons or Food4Less or Walmart Marketplace so it's not like I can't go somewhere else just as easily. My printer about three blocks away is Iranian, and there are dozens of Asian owned restaurants throughout.
I think you just try to focus on things that offend you and are way too easily offended.
Those countries have had many changes and ups and downs over the centuries, just as every western nation has. They have made many major technological acheivements and they are currently thriving economically, all without a significant Christian influence.
You just said that about Santa Ana and Latinos, and are wrong, so why in any rational world would I believe this? Seriously.I am not offended. I like Mexican food and speak Spanish. Two of our top five places to eat are Supermex and Taco Mesa.
Assimilation does not happen in Little Saigon, China Town, Little Italy or any other heavily populated and isolated area of immigrants.

Make sure your chicken and burgers are fully cooked - you don't want a Bachmann surprise.
The authors of Sex at Dawn (excllent book BTW) report that the archeological evidence shows significantly worse nutrition and reduced populations duing the early generations of agrarian living after abandoning the hunter/gathering life. It does not get into the environmental pressures that might have led to the abandonment of hunting/gathering. My guess is that rising human population levels may also be a factor.
8,000 BCE or 4,000 BCE ... Had to start sometime.
Over use of the soils. Yes.
So how did Fertile Crescent peoples lose that big lead? The short answer is ecological suicide: They inadvertently destroyed the environmental resources on which their society depended. Just as the region's rise wasn't due to any special virtue of its people, its fall wasn't due to any special blindness on their part. Instead, they had the misfortune to be living in an extremely fragile environment, which, because of its low rainfall, was particularly susceptible to deforestation.

Agriculture fueled a population explosion, and also generated food surpluses that could be used to feed full-time professional specialists, who no longer had to devote time to procuring their own food.
These specialists fed by agriculture included smiths and metal workers, who developed the world's first copper tools around 5000 BC, bronze tools around 3000 BC and iron tools around 1500 BC. The specialists also included accountants and scribes, who developed the world's first writing system around 3400 BC. That was a huge head start: Writing didn't reach what is now the United States until 5,000 years later. It makes Iraq's current rate of illiteracy an especially cruel irony.
Agriculture also fed politicians, bureaucrats and judges. That's why the world's first states arose in Iraq around 3500 BC, and the first multiethnic empire arose there around 3000 BC.

Just another sign that the "open borders" quasi policy is on a path to overburden our systems...What say you?

The best way to take down a nation is not by power, force, military, or any of that kind of stuff, but rather by swamping it with more people that they have to take care of....Back in WWII, the Chinese had a plan to take over Russia. It basically consisted of having their troops surrender in droves to the point where the Russian system would be so overburdened that it collapsed, and China could take over without firing a shot...This is what the liberals, and bleeding hearts are doing with this open borders policy, and they know it...
I see. Make it personal instead of just debating the issue. Good for you. I must be a racist too, huh?
He made a point about assimilation and he brought up the Latinos. Why I would try to impress upon you anything but the truth is beyond me.
Just to be clear:
You don't believe that I like Mexican food.
You don't believe that I speak Spanish.
You don't believe that I love to eat at Taco Mesa or Supermex.
You believe that assimilation can occur when immigrants isolate themselves, and
You believe that I am offended.
Those conclusions are literally so stupid that I am in awe that you would actually utter them...
Okee Dokee sweetie... whatever you say. The monkey bars or right over there... go and play, have a juicy in a bit.
Were there horses where they landed?
Either way, it's unreasonable to think they should have domesticated horses when no one else in the world had and even though those others had longer to do so.
on edit: Furthermore, they also did not have any prior experience domesticating wild animals (AFAIK) such as goats. I suspect the Americas are lacking domesticable animals
Again, there was no need given the abundance of resources. There was no motivation to do so. IOW, the lack of domesticating horses, or developing agriculture is not the result of any cultural inferiority. It was the result of circumstance, as Jared Diamond argues.
So not exactly an argument for the superiority of cultures that engaged in agriculture, eh?
Thanks for the link and the quotes (and the discussion). It's been interesting
Yes...
I am not saying they were morons... just that they missed a golden opportunity.
Deer. Wolves. Turkeys. Bison. Elk. Ducks. Moose. Geese. Llama.
I am not sure where you are getting cultural inferiority from...
Again... as above.
Thanks, and yes, they missed an opportunity for sure, but for the reasons I've argued, it would unreasonable to think they would have domesticated them
Some of those have not been domesticated, and of the ones that have, I believe they were all domesticated after horses had been eliminated in North America.
Not saying it was from you, but arguments have been made by some that Europeans dominated the indians because of some inherent form of cultural superiority (in the form of character, or religion/morals, etc). That really happened due to things like disease resistance, and military power, both of which are derived from geography.

Guns, germs and steel, both the book and the words themselves, pretty much sums it up.
Even though it is racist, it is fair to say most countries where "brown people" are a majority are definitely screwed up. Even Asian countries are a mess. Japan, South Korea and Taiwan are probably the only exceptions.
Africa? Seriously? People there die by age 50. Per Capita GDP of almost every country is below $5000. Disease, pestilence, poverty, famine are all synonymous with Africa.
India? Another place where people die young. Male life expectancy is 63. 600 million people there are living without sewers or running water. There caste system is worse than Eurpoe during the Middle Ages. Crowded, horrible women's rights...you name it.
Muslim countries? Hell, even the good ones like Egypt, Jordan and Pakistan are turning to ****. Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Arab Emirates are perhaps not yet sewers, but I would not live in them. No thank you.
South and Central America? Short of Costa Rica, where there can someone call it nice? Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay maybe, but only if you are rich. Peru? Ok, maybe. But then all you need do is look at Mexico, Brazil, and Venezuela to know something is very wrong down there too.

Racist?
There are "brown people" everywhere -- I'm one of them...... Of course to progressives everything is about race or skin tint.
You may want to go back and see who started the thread.....just saying.
Don't care and it doesn't even matter...
I mean we're only 13 pages into the thread....
