White House official inadvertently reveals plans to send elite army unit to Portland

An anarchist surrendering would be like taking a knee for the establishment.
Which has literally never stopped anyone from surrendering at any point

Not assigned. Volunteered. They're going to kick ass and take no prisoner.
No.

They’re going to stand behind the blue line delineating “federal government property” and get mocked.

The exact same way all those currently there are.

I don't dwell in whatever alternative reality you've created I'm sorry.

I realize that you dwell in your own alternative reality where insurrections occur whenever Trump sends the military to places where they aren’t happening. Too bad for you. My deepest insincere sympathy.

Put a stop to something that isn’t happening? Sure, I guess so. Their lack of presence would do the same.

Trump Goon Spills Bonkers Plan to Deploy 82nd Airborne to Blue City

The generals can have the 82nd troops just stay in the barracks which is the preferred kind of military mutiny in the USA. The troops would welcome that instead. What's Trump going to do, send US Marshals to arrest 'em. :sneaky:

Anyone that does not see their plan ending in martial law this year is dumb. If resistance grows into serious confrontations Trump will give orders to open season on everyone he will call treasonous. He will then justify martial law everywhere and anywhere
The US armed forces are not mouth breathing and knuckle dragging goons who go in the pointed direction and open fire.

"Those Generals and Admirals and Senior Enlisted Leaders, to everybody listening has to understand that those leaders have got the backs of Americans. They are going to follow the Rule of Law. They are going to do what is right. They are not going to in any way pledge their allegiance to a leader like the president. We are going to defend the constitution, the American way of life and the American people. The American people is us. And also, we are the American people. In the American military, we are on the side of the people. Please make sure everyone understands that."

--- Army Major-General Randy Manner ret. former Vice Chief of the National Guard Bureau of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

‘Absolutely un-American': Retired Top Nat'l Guard General Blasts Militarization of U.S. Cities

Donald Trump’s efforts to militarize Democratic-led cities continues albeit on a smaller scale of National Guard deployments. Maj. Gen. Randy Manner (Ret.) and Lt. Col. Rachel Vanlandingham (Ret.) join The Weeknight to explain the dangers of an escalated police force outside an ICE facility in Chicago, and new efforts to block the deployment of the National Guard to Portland. Trump's bonkers idea about the 82nd Airborne Infantry Division has occurred since these remarks but it does not change these remakrs. MG Manner is a member of Leaders For National Security organization.

Further, because we're not hearing or seeing the active duty generals and admirals publicly pushing back against this does not mean it is not happening. It is exactly what is happening. The military does not just and only lock their heels and follow orders. They work in offices and meeting rooms to prevent, preclude or minimize ornery orders being issued in the first place.

Liberals have no benefit of the doubt which would be at least the respectful thing to do concerning the armed forces.

North Carolina has to be far, far nicer than Portland.

Who would ever want to have to go there, for any reason?

It sickening to watch a freak like Hegseth dictate anything to our military brass then to have a convicted felon draft dodger tell them "if you don't like you can leave."
Then to watch him act like a drunken clown walking down stairs was humiliating and embarrassing. I would love to be a fly on the wall of a general's office after that fiasco.

and the border was closed while Biden was President. More gaslighting.
I get that you’re looking for a cute strawman…but what does “the border” have to do with the National Guard and Portland?

The OberKommando Miller has been the Insurrection Act guy all along. Indeed Miller has embraced the National Guard thingy as the sure path to perpetual dictatorial power. Using the Insurrection Act is his backup which is where we are now. This has to do with the disaster of the very few NG deployments and pulled punches deployments have been.

On Jan. 20th Trump announced he would see how his new troop deployments to the southern border and immigration inflows would work out. And that he would consider the Insurrection Act after 90 dayze if need be, which was mid April that itself came and went quietly about the Act. This was Miller's thingy, not Trump's.

Since early June there have been several NG deployments that are more noted for US District Court cases slamming 'em down than for anything else. For all of the Generalissimo's rolling thunder about "WAR" and the NG being deployed to numerous blue cities that Trump has named, one after the other, there are 6 of 'em in Memphis and a bunch of 'em strolling around monuments in Washington DC. And no NG anywhere else except for the focus of Trump-Miller on Portland and Chicago which the duo and all MAGAs despise and detest with their hair on fire.

Trump has been nervous about doing the Insurrection Act given he knows there will be a stronger reaction against it than about the NG deployments as failed or as stillborn as those are. Yet given the fiasco of trying and failing to insert the NG into the numerous and named blue cities hither and yon, and the complete disaster it is presently with Portland and Chicago, plus Trump being squeamish about the Act, he seems accepting about going with it. Trump not being entirely comfortable with it will be a negative factor for sure.

The thing about activating the Insurrection Act is that Trump will have to deal with deploying the active duty armed forces who want nothing to do with this. White Flag Liberals especially need to know that while it's the NG that follows orders in matters domestic, the active duty armed forces and their chain of command are a different beast when it comes to domestic matters.
