Similar Northeast to Sunbelt story. I was born in Albany NY, started my career in New York City, where I lived for two years before moving to Denver in 1981, where I have lived since. I grew up skiing, climbing and backpacking in the Adirondacks (which I still love), but took my act west.Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, raised in the Lehigh Valley, PA. This is one of the more interesting ones .... this guy made it his life's work to build a personal castle in a reasonably remote area of Colorado... largely funded by people that stop in to see how its going...I had no idea there were so many.

I have visited New York, the State, and the city. Been across Colorado and Nevada numerous times, lived in Arizona and Texas, and I am now living in Idaho. I know there are parts of CA that I would love, but the Lancaster area wasn't one of them. The wind was so bad that the trees along the streets grew at a 45 degree angle!
I saw that across parts of Texas when the leaves were off the trees, all the branches bending to the North as the predominant wind was from the south.
The farthest north I made it in California was to Disneyland.
I could still kick my butt for not making it up to San Francisco while I lived in California, the city of my origin.
That starfish could probably still be animated if it was removed from the plastic. Yeah, when we are young we don't think about the consequences of our little gee-gaws like starfish key fobs and rabbits foot lucky charms.I visited San Francisco (and Disneyland) when I was little. I still remember the lime tree outside the motel (I thought that was just the coolest thing), orange groves, cables cars and Fisherman's wharf. I still have a key chain from Fisherman's wharf. I was, of course, way too young to drive, but it has a red starfish encased in plastic and I wanted it, so.... Nowdays, I wouldn't want one - poor starfish.

I consider my move to Colorado to be one of my best decisions as I have thoroughly enjoyed living here. I won't leave, though I am thinking of retiring to Southwest Colorado.
