What's Wrong with Socialism?

Private schools are better for some, certainly not if that was the only option. Have you seen what charter schools are doing with public funds? Box seats, jets, and many never opening. Just scams. I can only imagine how much electricity would be if it was private. Not to mention impractical.

Did you look up that country that is having much success with private schools?

Stand up and defend socialism. Some of you must want to.

America is pretty socialist. We have social security, medicare, public schools, welfare, food stamps, and many more. About as much as you can say is "America is not as socialist as Sweden."

Not talking about the US. Was talking about Venezuela. Try to concentrate and keep up.

When did that happen? I am looking at the thread title. It does not mention Venezuela, only socialism. Do try and keep up.

You said you read fine books. And it seems to me you defend socialism. And of course some here posting worship socialism. Read their posts.

What socialist books should I read now?

Ramp Hollow, which is a history of WV that shines some light on the class struggles we had in the past against unregulated businesses and essentially explains why we still allow businesses to poison our water so often. There is Power in a Union, which is essentially U.S. labor history from the 1830's and on. You can read any book about the Great Depression, where we had no shortage of bread lines. They will take a little longer than five minutes to read, but you'll probably learn a lot more than some quick talking points.

I feel like I'm wasting my time reading books when right wingers can just watch 5 minute videos and pretend like they know everything.

Son, we've got 70+ years of real, live results of socalism. The video just kind of condenses a few things.

People in America expect capitalism to burp occasionally.

But do you expect that from Socialism too?

Actually multiply the worst of Capitalism by 1000 and you end up with Socialism.

You have never seen a burp like the Socialist Burp. I mean totally empty stores. Multiply the current socialist alarm over Corona Viris by a million and you get what you can expect from socialism.

Notice how no socialist mentions the burps? The food shortages, the shortages of medicine and even money?

Some of you experts on Socialism, show the Democrats why socialism is their ruin.

Apropos of what, your post is?

I have read so many of those books.

Did you read The Forgotten Man by Amity Shlaes?

What about Money Mischief by Milton Friedman?
Wealth of nations by Adam Smith?

And a great book by William E. Simon called a Time for Truth. Should be studied in all schools.

PS Ramp Hollow applies to the appalachians. Deals with our ancestors hunting and foraging there.

Oh please, right wingers call everything socialism. It's incredibly lazy thinking and sharing hastily thrown together youtube videos doesn't make it better.

I try to read history books more so than books that have a deeply defined partisan bent. For example in the union book I recommended it covers all the blood, not just the stuff that would make unions look good. Ramp Hollow is not a book about foraging. It also covers the good and bad of Appalachian history but it has a focus on the southern WV area. I will read A Time for Truth though, I'd like to know if conservatives followed his advice and this is supposed to be our renaissance.

The truth is no one knows what socialism is like because it's never really been tried. I don't know but I think America had the best mix of regulated capitalism and social programs that served the majority of AmeriCANs better than any government and economic system has before or since. But, fearing socialism is the same as fearing a moon of green cheese they don't and never have existed. On the other hand fearing a Plutocratic Oligarchy of unbridled capitalism has existed many times and is a very real threat to OUR Constitution RIGHT BY GOD NOW by the people that support Donny Little Hands who is on record wanting America to try Dictatorship with him as Dictator

I'm going to use a wonderful line I just heard recently.

Socialism is rape and Capitalism is consensual sex.

Every book I named for you is history. Since you did not read any of the books, you can't judge them for partisanship. But I assure you they are history.

Socialism is meat and capitalism is potatoes

Capitalism "died in 1929" and socialism has been bailing out capitalism ever since. Socialism needs to merely learn how to use Capitalism for all of its economic worth in modern times.

Wrong. socialism history dates back to at least 5,000 BC.

Capitalism has harmed no person. But read Democrats. To them capitalism is their dreaded enemy.

Abe Lincoln was a dictator for his entire terms.

The US has numerous socialist programs, including ones that help people buy food like pancakes. You should learn about a topic before talking about it so you do not say stupid ****.

How do I down vote this?

You mean the stock market died? And since Trump it has produced enormous benefits to those invested in stocks. It is alive and well.

So you will defend Socialism here?

Give it a serious shot.

What's really sad is uneducated people think you can only choose one

Name a successful country with no socialist programs

Venezuela is pretty bad. So is Prager. Both are sources of alot of propaganda.

Give us any examples of propaganda by Prager?

And the video I posted is truth, not propaganda. i notice it's detractors can't quote even one thing not true.
