Socialism has not failed. Look at Norway, Denmark and a host of other highly successful countries practicing some form of it like Japan, South Korea, Germany, etc.

You know what failed though? Fascist Nationalism.

It's not a new definition of the ideology. As I've stated with examples, there is socialism embedded within our capitalism.

It doesn't sound like you really want an honest, mature conversation asking why people believe in a higher power. It seems to me that you're just saying "Oh, you believe in God? Idiot." Seems pointless and rude to me.

And, if our zealots (both sides) kept those to themselves, we'd have far fewer posts in the sub-forum. Just saying.

I tend to keep my "beliefs" out of these conversations, but I do oppose those who shove their beliefs onto us with their dogma.

What do you think farm subsidies and farm bailouts are? What do you think oil energy subsidies are? Many progressives believe this is “reverse welfare” for the rich and want to reduce them. What do you think Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are? Conservatives want to reduce Social Security and Medicare benefits and reduce the numbers who qualify, while progressives want to increase and expand these programs.

Young progressives like Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar are unlike their parents and grandparents, these young progressives were children, or not yet born, when the Red-baiting of the Cold War made socialism a dirty word. Trump’s false proclamation that America “will never be a socialist country” was an attempt to resurrect the McCarthy red-baiting of his childhood in order to put his thumb on the capitalist side of the scale favored by the oligarchs in the ongoing debate over how much socialism and how much socialism America should have.

They aren't socialism. They are a capitalistic response to supply and demand.

Oil industry subsidies are the same. They also help offset the extreme risk Oil Companies take on when exploring and developing new supplies.
