Would anyone care to disclose their national political party affiliation?
I have voted for both Republican candidates & Democrats for national office but have not voted (nationally) for a Republican since the early 1970's so I would call my party affiliation Democrat. (just like Will Rogers responded once when asked what political party he belonged to, he said: "I'm not a member of any organized political party.......I'm a Democrat.")

Very early in the poll here but.....so far......2 self-identified liberals & 1 self-identified Moderate have no problems saying they consider themselves Democrats.
(I'll be interested in watching for how many members will admit to being Republicans, who report other "political leanings" ....such as conservative)

Devil, when did you become a moderate? Did you fall and hit your head on the ground this morning? If your views are those of a moderate, then God help us all.

I left the Republican party a few years ago. They abandoned their fiscally conservative principles in favor of special interests and big government. Until they return to their principles, they can no longer count me as "one of theirs". I'd say I fall more in line with the Libertarian party than I do with the Republican party, but I've never been one to "toe the line" of any party.

I've never been a big "pigeon-hole" believer either but I'm fairly conservative fiscally, believe in the death penalty & an individual's right to carry firearms (within reason) & am for strong national defense. On the other side I believe in a woman's right to choose & affirmative action........., so I reported Moderate as far as political leanings.

I have yet to find a political party with the intentions of doing the best thing for the well being of this country, so I do not affiliate myself with any political party.

I do, however, share ideology with Conservative and Libertarian views.

I'm not ashamed or anything. Just didn't feel it was necessary to vote AND post.
 
I guess I'm a Republican, though I've been going back and forth as to whether I should actually register as such when I turn 18 (not that it matters in Virginia, where primaries are not limited to party membership.)

I'm not a devoted partisan though.

Not necessary at all. (I deliberately left it that way to get honest answers from some who may be reluctant to disclose party affiliation)

You know, that was totally unnecessary. When you go so over the top to harass a group of people, you do more harm to yourself than them.

I was a Democrat a few years back, mostly on account of Wyoming being so thoroughly Republican-- and the Wyoming Republican Party holding more loyalty to the national party than to their own States' interest.

The way the Democrats have been since the 2006 elections and especially since the Presidential election... not so much. Beyond not being able to identity with the political philosophy, I find myself unable to support their policies.

So, yeah. Back to being politically homeless.

Heh. First person to suggest "Libertarian" gets a bullet to the face.
 
No part registration for me, although I would register for the Pirate Party if it was available in the U.S.

Its actually a single issue part about copyright reform, but pirate party sounds much cooler.

It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which find a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.

There is an opinion, that parties in free countries are useful checks upon the administration of the Government, and serve to keep alive the spirit of Liberty. This within certain limits is probably true; and in Governments of a Monarchical cast, Patriotism may look with indulgence, if not with favor, upon the spirit of party. But in those of the popular character, in Governments purely elective, it is a spirit not to be encouraged. From their natural tendency, it is certain there will always be enough of that spirit for every salutary purpose. And, there being constant danger of excess, the effort ought to be, by force of public opinion, to mitigate and assuage it. A fire not to be quenched, it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest, instead of warming, it should consume."
