For those of you who use reddit, I am interested in seeing what side of the political isle reddit leans towards.

I personally believe that reddit leans on the right side of the political spectrum, with a very strong libertarian streak. I say this because reddit seems to harbor many right wing beliefs such as a staunch support for gun ownership, disdain of college political activism and protest, a blind support of Israel, and in some cases, a very ugly attitude of hate towards civil rights groups like the Black Lives Matter movement and distrust towards college rape victims.

However, reddit still gets some things right, such as opposing most foreign wars, support LGBTQ rights, and having a health distrust of religious fundamentalism. For every hate subreddit such as r/tia, there are also one or two subreddits such as r/sh*tredditsays and r/circlebroke which call out the rampant racism and misogyny they see in other redditors.

I am interested to see if any fellow redditors on this forum agree with my assessments of reddit, or whether you see things a different way.

I think I signed up for reddit several years ago to participate in one thread. I wouldn't call myself a "redditor" in that regard, although I frequently peruse their forums.
I don't think Reddit the website has an official political lean, although I agree that it seems that many of the people drawn to post on reddit tend to be more libertarian in outlook, I don't see many social conservatives on Reddit either. They seem to be the "south park liberal" type is the most prevelant viewpoint.

It all depends on which subreddit you're looking at. A lot of the ones I've seen have been heavily liberal, but there are some across the board.

Let's say r/politics, r/news, and a "local" subreddit such as r/newyork or r/saintlouis

There are lots of subreddits, you can't just pick and choose things that you think fit your thinking and pretend that's all that matters.

Their administration doesn't but whatever,
with a very strong libertarian streak.
pretty subjective but ok,
I say this because reddit seems to harbor many right wing beliefs such as a staunch support for gun ownership,
Well, many of them are gamers and very few have any fear of guns, and probably own some themselves.
disdain of college political activism and protest,
Everyone hates that. SJW's are everything that's wrong with universities.
a blind support of Israel,
I wish but no
and in some cases, a very ugly attitude of hate towards civil rights groups like the Black Lives Matter movement and distrust towards college rape victims.
See above: Campus activism and Social Justice warriors. They don't want "civil rights", they just want to spread their hate.
However, reddit still gets some things right, such as opposing most foreign wars, support LGBTQ rights, and having a health distrust of religious fundamentalism. Reddit is too diverse to call it one way or another. It's a public site and well, anyone with an asshole can give their opinions.

What exactly is a "South Park liberal"? The south park guys are right leaning libertarians

You would think that as much as the Right likes censorship of media, the South Park creators would hold conservatism in an even lesser light than they do.

I know, right. The right wing's hate of free speech, as demonstrated by the patriot act and congress' silencing of the cdc in regards to their research on gun violence really shows how much contempt the right wing has for our constitution.

Reddit is not really a singular forum.
There are hundreds, possibly thousands, of subreddits, all with differing political slants.

Although there was recently an issue with an r/News moderator censoring one of the recent shootings.
I think the mod was deleting threads related to the Orlando shooter being a Muslim.

Well, the poll question will be biased, if a person is mostly hanging out in reddit threads that favor their lean.

I've seen all kinds on that site.

Considering it was the lefties at Viacom who capitulated to terrorists and censored south park showing muhammad, they are much more pissed at the left

It depends on which sub you're on, since some are quite conservative. But overall, reddit leans distinctly left of center. Which makes sense, because the user base of reddit is mostly young.

I would say a libertarian streak is probably the most accurate way to describe it, where as Tumblr would be distinctly progressive in their lean.

It varies sub to sub, but overall I'd say they have a left of center lean on many broad social things, a more right lean on individual social things, a more (modern American) left lean in terms of the military, an anti-government lean that can show itself both as "left" or "right" depending on the time, and a right leaning view in terms of fiscal type matters.

Both sides love censorship of the media, which is why both sides regularly gets skewered by South Park for it.

Indeed, their ENTIRE recent season basically lambasted the recent censorship tendancies of the left, while at the same time pointing out howit's similar to the censorship tendancies of the right that was prevalent a few years back.

Far and away, their closest political ideology is likely libertarian, and Parker is actually registered as one. As Matt Stone once famously quipped, "I hate conservatives, but I really ****ing hate liberals". Essentially, they take shots at both sides, couldn't staunchly be claimed by either side, but likely lean slightly more right than left in an overall sense. I think they're both pretty middle of the road, with a right wing lean, but really it think they come down more to a certain ideology, with the two biggest tennents being that Censorship is bad and that staunch adherence to any ism/ology/etc is a bad thing.

Actually I'm pretty sure that self-censoring anti-Islam entertainment is done for safety reasons.

Which speaks volumes about people who believe that violence is an acceptable way to stifle opinions.
