What is different between REAL CHRISTIANITY & a CULT that thinks it's "Christian"? (1 Viewer)

You know that Christians have to live in the real world also. .

Not everything we do needs to involve God.
This is where you are entirely wrong. EVERYTHING we do should involve CHRIST/GOD. HE created this "real" world.
I don't ask the checkout girl at the grocery store if she believes in God before I let her scan my groceries and I could care less who my auto mechanic worships as long as he fixes my car.
NO, but I do wish the checkout girl a Merry Christmas, Happy Easter, Have a blessed Thanksgiving, etc... And I do pray to GOD that the mechanic finds and understands the problem with my car.
Voting for politicians is also the same way, with a limited number of choices you have to pick one.
In voting, I seek GOD's direction and consider how the parties regard the sanctity of life and marriage and the gender GOD gave to each of us (not necessarily the one we desire), and what's really important, votes or one's integrity & personal beliefs.

So if I want to root for a football team it needs to involve God?

If I want to go buy a new hammer it should involve God?

And if neither politician measures up you just don't vote huh?

You can ask God for guidance but it's still YOU that has to make the decisions, not God.

So would you go to a Christian mechanic who's not really that good or an atheist mechanic who's excellent if you had the choice?

If you found out the checker was an adulterer and the mechanic was a fraud, your comparison to Trump would fit.

As a general rule I would say that all Christians just happen to go to the correct church. If ever that church starts espousing things that a parishioner disagrees with, then that parishioner will simply change to the correct church. Most of the other Christians are going to the wrong church and are in grave risk of going to hell.

To answer the thread title question, those who call themselves "real Christians" tend to ignore the fact that they are no less a cult than any other organized religious group.

Sorry, however, cults are closed to outsiders. True Christians want people to come and visit and consider membership. There is no regard for race, wealth, beauty, intelligence, etc... There are no secrete meetings nor rituals that are closed to non-members. A visitor may not agree with all aspects of a particular denomination's message/sermon; however, the visitor makes the move to either stay or go, join or not... A cult will exclude or remove members who do not agree with every aspect of the cult. Usually, there is a leader or council who tells the cult what to believe, how to dress, etc... We have people in our congregation who may not fully agree with everything or are even seeking a closer relationship to CHRIST (being unsaved)---- but they are not excluded from attending. They are invited to attend business meetings and various church activities. Such can not vote for a new pastor or any church issue unless a member, but that doesn't exclude them from either asking questions or making suggestions. And of course membership is limited to those who profess CHRIST as their SAVIOR and must demonstrate the fruit of the SPIRIT in some aspect. But by truth, every member of the CHURCH, must be willing to profess CHRIST. BUT no one is prevented from doing that nor excluded when they do such.

Some cults are more mainstream than others.

Absolutely. But they all have one thing in common. CHRIST takes a back seat in their doctrine.
And why is that? It's because we follow what the Bible says...

"the head of every man is the Christ; in turn, the head of a woman is the man; in turn, the head of the Christ is God." 1 Corinthians 11:3

The Bible doesn't say Christ is inferior to GOD anymore than the woman is inferior to the man.

He is 2nd in line of a headship...educate yourself on what means...

Headship refers to the position or state of being a leader or in charge, especially in an organization or a family. It can also refer to the period during which someone is in charge. In a religious context, it can describe a principle of authority and responsibility, often associated with men in leadership roles within the family or church, according to some interpretations.

Then I'd suggest the study the Bible. As forgiveness is as meaningful a part of true Christianity as any. It appears that hate, which has no place in Christianity is running rampant among those who don't like Trump.
Virtually every post you make is about hating Democrats. Are you a Christian?
