What if Joe Biden was the better candidate all along?

Interesting article from The Hill....

With the Nov. 5 election just over a fortnight away, here is an intriguing thought experiment.

By most accounts, the election is still a horse race too close to call. But although Vice President Kamala Harris quickly assumed the presidential mantle from Joe Biden and put in place an impressive start-up, October has not been particularly kind to her. Donald Trump has closed the electoral gaps, and some believe he is actually leading.

No matter who wins, we have to ask: Would President Biden have been a better candidate and choice despite suffering from the effects of age and 81 years? Further, suppose that the disastrous June 27 debate with Trump had not taken place, or that Biden had been firing on all cylinders that night. Would Biden have been forced to withdraw? And whether Harris loses or wins, some will ask whether Biden might still have been a better candidate.

Nah, LOL.

What if worshiped a better human

Biden or Harris. Why do you care who our nominee is. You wouldn’t vote for either
I vote for who I think is the best candidate, I have voted both Democrat and Republican several times each.
Your party forced me to vote for Trump already, and now your party elite is doing it again
If you would have had a better option - absolutely I would have voted for them

I'm so sorry you've been victimized this way. You sound just like your candidate.

Many of us would have preferred better candidates than Hillary. OTOH, Biden worked out very well and Harris has the potential to do so, I am happy to give her the chance. I like her the more I read her programs and hear her speak.

DonOld presents no programs (Not even "concepts"!) except "tariffs" which economists call simplistic and a bad idea, and he doesnt speak...he rages, complains, and dances. Slowly. And appears to wear adult diapers.

I am now convinced there are several SNL writers here testing wild statements to see reaction.
Good stuff - really wild. I would get Tommy Flannigan to do a bit saying this stuff!... he could make a come back! It would be hilarious.

"Yeah that's the ticket!!"

"...an intriguing thought experiment..."? No. No, it's not.

If my Aunt had wheels, she'd be a bicycle. Things are where they are. Biden looked old and frail to the point where he was convinced to step down. The end.
Does that sort of gender fluidity work with inanimate objects?

The only person you have to blame for you vote is you. I really doubt that you ever voted for a democrat for president

It is looking like the Democrats missed the timing of replacing Biden by a few weeks too early. The vibes couldn't sustain.

They could have if disconnected neolibs weren't advising the campaign.

Biden was a much easier target for Trump's rotten mouth.
Now the convict is the old senile one.

Why would you doubt that? Based on what?
Go ahead and search for Trump under my name - you will find many times where I said I did not want him to get the nomination.
I voted for Obama - once. Certainly not the 2nd time, fool me once.
I voted for Bill Clinton both times
And for the first time in my life - the Hillary/Trump election I did not vote. No way on the universe would I vote for Hillary Clinton, and I couldn't bring myself to vote Trump the first time.
Obviously I voted for him against Biden.

Joe has been massively successful.

Current MAGA's grandkids will write about it.

Even discounting Biden’s abysmal debate performance, Harris is a better candidate (which isn’t saying much).

Biden was a great president on all fronts except immigration.

Harris should have embraced Joe's domestic and foreign record instead of running from it. Somehow the GOP has claimed the Trump economy and foreign policy was better under Trump and most Americans believe it.

On immigration she should have pointed out the truth, she was not the decision maker and on this she disagreed with Joe.

Should Joe have run? No way. He looks too old and fragile. Trump is just as bad but all that makeup and hair dressing gives him an image of something he is not.

In the first place, "what if Joe Biden was the better candidate all along" is a counterfactual. Counterfactuals are worse than hypotheticals. Biden is no longer the candidate and counterfactual arguments have long been discarded by Historians as not useful. They just lead people down rabbit holes.

And the economy. You can put lipstick on a pig and pretend 70% of the people don't know what they're talking about.

I'm one of them.

How is it Harris denies there was any problem?

As noted she hasn't fallen once since she's been VP.

No pretense, fact. People are idiots. Yes, 70%.

Numbers are facts, not feelings.

Good thing intelligent people like you are around

Not enough of us however.
The more they agree with you the smarter they are right? That's how intelligence should be measured.

Facts are facts.

Opinion is only acceptable in the absence of fact, not in conflict with it.

Humans have a very hard time with this.
Humans are emotional rather than contemplated unless an effort is made and it seldom is.

Would you likd to know why humans default to emotion over critical thinking?

Facts are facts.
Yes and when making a case for something, humans tend to cite only the facts that support their case while rejecting, denying or explaining away any contradictory facts.

Would you likd to know why humans default to emotion over critical thinking?
Not sure I agree with the premise but go for it.

Here's another saying: "The truth hurts", eh? I note you have no rebuttal, only defense.
