What Do You Think Went Through The Minds Of Those 800 Generals Today?...With A Drunk Rapist And Racist Fox News Host Like Pete Hegseth Lecturing Them?

That is incorrect on a couple of levels, however, the most immediate one is that Leaders are expected to be able to uphold the standards they place and enforce on others, or you get a breakdown of good order, discipline, and morale - all of which will degrade our warfighting capability.

If these dudes were civilian strategists, you'd be right. But these are military officers.
Is a 50+year old supposed to meet the physical fitness of a 20 year old?

No one has asked them to violate the constitution.

The woke military is gone. So if in the military they will have to get with the new Dept of War mind set.
Trump is gonna.

If he keeps going down the dictator checklist.

I can't even imagine.....just shameful. I'm embarrassed to be an American.

It is similar to when Colin Powell, with a straight face, presented false claims about yellowcake to the UN and the world, and then later described it as the lowest moment of his life. Or when another general, whose name I cannot recall, authorized the use of the military to clear demonstrators during Trump’s previous term, and afterward expressed regret and shame for that decision.

People often bow to the corrupt leaders. Trump is Trump, will be Trump. Those who bow and enable him are the problem.

Milley.

Why did we bother educating everyone for the last 75 years about nazism and fascism if the next time it appears so many of us look it squarely in the face and decide it can't possibly be what it obviously is.

Hegseth Announces War Department Reforms in Sweeping Speech to Top Military Brass

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth today announced a series of new directives aimed at strengthening the War Department's people and culture during an in-person speech in Quantico, Virginia, to the U.S. military's most senior leaders.

"Good morning, and welcome to the War Department, because the Department of Defense is over," Hegseth said, noting the recent rebranding of the department emphasizes the military's requirement to ensure peace by preparing for war, and that the American people deserve a military that will win any war it chooses or that's thrust upon it.

"The topic today is about the nature of ourselves because no plan, no program, no reform [and] no formation will ultimately succeed unless we have the right people and the right culture at the Department of War," Hegseth told the group.

He added that, in his eight months on the job, he has learned the best way to take care of troops is to give them good leaders committed to the War Department's warfighting culture.
"Not perfect leaders [but] good leaders; competent, qualified, professional, agile, aggressive, innovative, risk-taking, apolitical [and] faithful to their oath and to the Constitution," Hegseth emphasized.

Stating that the military has been forced to focus on the wrong things by misguided politicians for too long, Hegseth said that he's made it his own mission to uproot the obvious distractions that have made the War Department less lethal in past years.

"The new War Department's golden rule is this: do unto your unit as you would have done unto your own child's unit. … Standards must be uniform, gender-neutral and high. If not, they aren't standards, they're just suggestions," Hegseth said.
Quoting a buffoon does not make it any less buffoonish, it only ties you to the buffoonery. The man hasn't a clue what he is talking about, followed by a guy that had even less of clue. The man was a major in the National Guard. Yet he feels he has insights to share with the top military minds in the country, all of whom have directed combat and studied extensively that the War College. That is the height of hubris, which makes the man a fool. I can assure you that almost every man and woman in that room reached that conclusion rather quickly.

Thanks for letting us know that you actually think this was some type of serious talk....

This has to be one of the dumbest quotes in the entire history of military speeches—going all the way back to the first monkey that managed to talk another monkey into picking up a stick and beating one of its own.

Can anyone possibly be this dumb? more over how dumb you have to be to think this man is fit for the job!!!

Not racist! Your guess is very stupid!
President Trump is Commander in Chief. Too bad that is upsetting for you.🥱

I wouldn't say it is upsetting. I mean, I have just gotten a Trump T-Shirt in. You know the one. "Smart people don't like me." DJT.

The thing Trump’s generals feared about him could now be arriving

"...they’ve cast Trump’s desire to dispatch the military on US soil as one of his most troubling tendencies – and even...evidence of his authoritarianism. This issue was raised...by two Trump defense secretaries (Jim Mattis and Mark Esper), his top general (Mark Milley) and his chief of staff (John Kelly, also a retired general). All of them have cast this as a line that is not to be crossed and indicated they feared Trump would...cross it. Some even recalled...instances when Trump tried to do so or suggested it. The flashpoint for many of their comments was the scene in June 2020 when federal law enforcement cleared Lafayette Square...of racial-justice protesters. They did so right before Trump strolled through for a photo-op featuring both Milley and Esper. (Both later expressed regret for participating.) Mattis responded with a blistering – and unusual, for him – statement that warned of what the scene portended. “Militarizing our response, as we witnessed...sets up a conflict — a false conflict — between the military and civilian society...It erodes the moral ground that ensures a trusted bond between men and women in uniform and the society they are sworn to protect, and of which they themselves are a part.”

Mattis said the military should be used on US soil “only when requested to do so, on very rare occasions, by state governors.” (Trump’s deployments of the military this summer...came without requests from the governor and mayor. Esper has described a scene in which Trump asked him and Milley why the protesters couldn’t simply be shot “in the legs or something.” ...he said a large part of his job that summer was “making sure to blunt or redirect any efforts that could politicize the military, misuse the force, or undermine the nation’s security.” In a CNN interview in October, Esper even invoked the Kent State massacre, where the National Guard killed four Vietnam War protesters. “We don’t want to go back to that,” Esper said. Kelly likewise has said Trump had to be told repeatedly why he shouldn’t use the military against American citizens.... But he said Trump would just keep pressing the issue. “And I think this issue of using the military on — to go after — American citizens is one of those things I think is a very, very bad thing — even to say it for political purposes to get elected — I think it’s a very, very bad thing, let alone actually doing it,” Kelly told the New York Times last year.

In the same interview, Kelly mentioned Trump’s penchant for this while saying he met the definition of a fascist."

That's the entire problem. They are so disciplined, they won't say anything. My guess is even THEY have a tipping point.

TACO's made it clear...if you're not on board...you're gone. He started intimidating the military back in Jan. One of the first things he did was fire (the black) Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and replace him with a much less accomplished and experienced white guy.

IMO most if not all will keep their mouths shut.

Our military leaders were forced to listen to hours of incoherent ramblings by the "village idiot" and the "town drunk".

I posted elsewhere what a waste of $$ that was for an administrative briefing. That could have been done with a series of memos, all electronically filed and trackable.

No, this was the Pete and TACO Hour...for their personal and "in-person" gratification. Anyone else wonder what that little meeting cost?

All those military leaders had to travel, some from all over the globe. And those leaders dont travel alone...they have staff.
And they all had to be fed and housed. TACO invited himself and tripled security costs (thanks RoadVirus).

Holy shit. These are your tax dollars at work folks...for Pete and TACO's struggle for personal glory and attention. Over petty administrative shit.

Trump and Hegseth also fired the top JAG officers in the Army, Air Force, and Navy......so that they could start their illegal missile attacks on boats off the coast of Venezuela without anyone trying to stop him.

I comprehend just fine. Those nukes most certainly got the job done and ended the Japanese attack on America during WWII.

How is comparing them to Fat Man and Little Boy not a compliment? Might not been meant as one, but it was. Were the generals really that stupid, or is this another media lying day?

WOW

Pretty desperate to have to reach back over half a century to make a point.

You know everyone involved with that decision, including Dwight Eisenhower later stated they regretted it!

You're proud of the fact the US killed more civilians than soldiers? Twice!

How to win friends and influence people does not include atomic warfare. The United States is the only country to have ever deployed that weapon....not once but twice!

Thank good old Harry Truman!

Wow. Where did you read/hear about that?

Wow. Where did you read/hear about that?
It was in the Washington Post a few weeks ago.

Trump and Hegseth want to be able to do whatever the **** they want from a military perspective, no questions asked. Getting rid of the top JAG officers helps them achieve that goal.
