It was about a week prior to this album release, my wife and three other couples were at El Cheetah, formerly the hotspot The Cheetah, one of the best dance clubs NYC had ever enjoyed. The first real disco in 1966, closing in 72. Before to was a gentlemen's club (strip joint). Before the Palladium, the Limelight, the Tunnel, Studio 54 and so many more. It was where I first danced to the Boxtops. Maritza, my wife's best friend, and her boyfriend Carlos has heard there would be someone special performing. A dance floor that held 3,000 people going wild, gyrating to the beat, no tables, almost always live music, and the best of the best. No ropes to keep out the commoners, because the commoners were the show, the dancers with the latest moves. No need for bouncers, everyone was having fun. Dancing, singing, and then abrupt silence, no one in the audience could move. The electricity in the air was palpable .... this voice rang out and the moves were perfect and from the heart.....
