Actually I've never been a huge fan of theirs until this new one. I jumped on the Animal Collective bandwagon, as it were. I've appreciated, at a distance, the creativity on display in their past outings, but their work just never grabbed me before now.

EDIT: I also loved Panda Bear's solo album from 2006(?), and I guess this is as much like that as it is like previous Animal Collective stuff. I suppose I'm just fond of that sound more so than the 'classic' AC sound.

Panda Bear's solo album is pure gold. I actually got into Animal Collective through Ariel Pink. They signed him to their Paw Tracks label in 2004 or so and I had been unaware of their stuff until then.
