What a Progressive Believes, (2 posts)

Can't wait to see the Trumpites and the blithertarians post the same absurd talking points in 'response' to all of these! LOL

You should have stopped with the first post, and allowed people to comment on the author's beliefs rather than to go forth with a partisan gotcha'

You create an interesting thread and then destroy it with this insulting bull****. So, are you just trying to collect a plethora of "yeah, me, too" responses, or what?

My thoughts exactly.

Fantastic! So long as you never start a family, don't own a car, have no debts, and carry a weapon at all times, you are good to go.

Im sorry but your a minimum wage employee. Living in a 600 sqft 1 bedroom apartment. If you are married with a kid and you are the only one working that's your choices. But even still after rent, utilities, and food you still have $500 left over every month to other purchases like clothes and toys. If you live in the city centers like I had shown then you really shouldn't need a car. But even then a cheap ass used one wouldn't cost you to much, specially if you saved the cash first instead of financing it.
Hell I bought my pickup for $500 when I was 18 on a min wage job. Insured it, worked on it when needed, and put gas in it.

You're one to complain.

:doh

Did you buy your pickup in 1920?

If you find it so interesting, why the butthurt? Just prove him wrong by making an intelligent point.. if you can. Here's a hint, don't include asinine, bumper sticker conservativism, like your stupid tag line.

rather than "progressive," i consider myself center left on the European scale. this is the direction that i support :

Quality of life by nation

That is stupid and dishonest. Nobody has to agree with 11 to agree with any one or even all of the rest. You just wanted a reason to **** on the thread.

That's the tl;dr twitter age for you.

Not discussing is the point.

If a person is dumb enough to write what's in #11, then we must look askance at the rest of the post as well. This person is just a garden variety progressive pushing most all the usual positions which have been debated ad nauseum. I'm not trying to do anything to the thread. Feel free to post away. Oh, and I've never been on Twitter in my life. Just thought you should know.

Just post ":fart" in the future. It'll save everyone time, even you.
I guarantee you that my definition captures more self-described "progressives" than the one in the OP.

Don't need any healthcare, don't need a phone or other utilities, don't need clothes and food....

You can get healthcare. Go to a free clinic or just don't pay your medical bills. Can't get blood from a turnip. Let the taxpayers cover it. This is different and much better than universal healthcare, or so I'm told. Plus you can get your clothes from goodwill and your food from soup kitchens. See? Minimum wage is fine where it is.

And when was this?

LOL, no butthurt, I'm used to that type of crap. If I were to offer an intelligent point, rather than speaking out it would imply I accepted his partisan crap.

I’m fresh out of teats.

You remind of this guy.

Are you ex-military too?

For the same reason you might pause and wonder about the level of good faith of the author if someone began explaining conservatism in a careful, intelligent, civil, polite manner that you were actually enjoying reading...only to suddenly take a jerking left turn to call progressives a bunch of rapists and pedophiles.

How much do you feel like engaging with the points that the conservative speaker was otherwise clearly making until that point when you are left believing that the person does not want or care to have an intellectually honest conversation with you, but only to smear those he disagrees with and attack them in their deepest integrity?

You must not be a min wage worker, either that or you lie for political reasons.
A full time worker gets healthcare through their employer and they more then 75% of the insurance costs. So the monthly cost for a single person is roughly $100 a month with a family plan closer to $400.
Eating is fairly cheep when you watch what you are purchasing. I'd eat for less then $200 a month. Phones and cable internet or tv are luxury items and are only for those who can afford them theyre not necessities. Plus I get free TV with antennas. Most cities do this as well.

At least you admit you had nothing intelligent to add. Why even imply you found the post interesting, though, if what you meant was "I'm too angry at liberals to attempt to be fair to their points"?

BTW, it's conservatives who demand free stuff.

I'm not a minimum wage worker. If I was, I'd be a Trump supporter peeing in my adult diaper about an uneducated Honduran taking my job.

$100 a month for medical insurance. Thanks Obama!

Where did you detect anger in his post?
He's laughing, my friend...

and now I am laughing too.

Los Angeles, not a chance. A studio apartment with 250sq feet goes for over $1,400.00 a month. At $9.00 an hour you would have to work over 200 hours just to pay rent when you include taxes on your wages. If you work full time you work just 180 hour a month, so you would have to work more hours at one job or take a second job just to pay your rent in LA.
Move then

$1400 a month?

Maybe 5 to 10 years ago.

Add $500 - $1000 and you're in the ballpark.

I don't see why not. What necessities can you not afford for $1,000 a month?
After your taxes and rent has already been paid.

17 Numbers That Will Make You Realize Just How Pathetic The Federal Minimum Wage Is | HuffPost

The weekly take-home pay for a 40-hour-a-week minimum-wage employee, after Social Security and Medicare taxes. That adds up to $13,926.38 per year, or just over $1,150 per month. The commonly cited minimum wage annual salary for a 40-hour-a-week worker is $15,080 — before taxes.

So that's $1150 before you pay rent. I used to live in an incredibly low cost of living town and even with a roommate I was paying at least $350 for rent and chipping in at least $35 per month for the Electric Bill. In any major city $350 / month rent is a nonsensical dream, but let's pretend that's even possible.

So we're starting at $765 not $1000. First let's start with food. You're not eating anything close to a healthy diet on less than about $75/week. That's another $300 gone. So we're down to 465. In modern society most people need transportation to get to and from any kind of job. In a major city you might be able to take public transportation or even walk to some kind of job, but in most of the country that's not realistic and as we pointed out if you're in a major city your rent is going to be much higher to make up for it. So to have access to any kind of car you're looking at a minimum of a $200 / month when you factor in a car payment, gas money and insurance. If it ever breaks down you're ****ed, and since it would have to be a really ****ty car to only cost $200 / month you know damn well it's going to break down.

No, I'm sure you won't consider cell phone or internet to be a necessity, but in this day and age it absolutely is. You likely can't even fill out a resume without putting a cell phone or email address on it.

We haven't even touched on the clothes you'll need to wear in order to hold down any kind of serious job. Good luck putting any kind of furniture in your apartment.
