My son, who is always patted down because he is brown (Korean), had his fiancee patted down today also.
They then chose her at random to search her bag. They found a bag of unopened grits that I gave her (special kind I've only found down south) and they actually checked the bag to make sure it wasn't explosive.
What's the weirdest thing you've had happen to you at the airport?

Once in Denver waiting in a long line at security a TSA guy comes to me, in the middle of the long line, and says, "Sir, please follow me." I followed him and was escorted to a door that opened to crew and whatever security. The line was maybe 5 people long. I asked the TSA what the hell. "He said, no worries. We know who you are and we knew you were coming."
I went through the security check there and was soon on my way to the gate. I have no idea why that happened or how they knew who I was or who the heck they thought I was, but I damn sure didn't complain.
I was on a six-hour airplane ride with an illiterate meth addict. He was quite the character.
So where was Scaramucci going?
Got stuck at the Atlanta airport overnight, sleeping on the floor with family (down by the united gates all 3 of em). We were the only people even remotely around there. Korean flight comes in in middle of night around 2am and one of the passengers just kept trying to get information from my wife, speaking Korean I'm assuming, and getting more and more animated. Finally a night cleaning crew person came by and escorted him to security. The whole night was surreal.
Got pre-approved for TSA Check-in without having to buy it. Last month. So the gov't knows I'm not a terrorist. Let's see if that luck continues next week, or if I get back to normal status. Paying for the flight with credit card miles should pre-approve me again. I hope.
I once had to take a piss pretty bad, so I left to use the mens room. When returning to my gate, which was like thirty feet away, was stopped by TSA, who told me that because I had no boarding pass (left them with girlfriend) to prove I was really there to fly, I would have to go through security all over again. He refused to walk the thirty feet to my girlfriend to verify I had a pass.
Thankfully, a nice lady that saw my situation who worked for AA, offered to retrieve my girlfriend with the passes, which was very sweet. Upon presenting my tickets, I informed the TSA agent he was a douche, and went back to my gate.
Oh yeah, I was once dropped off at a terminal that was a mile and a half from my car in the middle of August at DFW.
Very festive.

Recently actually.
4 noshows at the gate, so they had to find their baggage in the hold and get it off, that took time, then it rained, so we had to wait for a new departure slot.
Then, as we're taxiing out to the runway, at this point I'm like, lights out tired, suddenly all the lights come back on, crew members are running down the aisle, I'm like, the **** is going on here?
Some lady got sick a few rows back, anyway they go back to the gate, medical team comes on, gets her off the plane, her husband doesn't even come with her, just like, see yah.
As we're taxiing again, husband suddenly pipes up that he forgot to give her, her passport and they must go back and give it to her, crew was like nah bud, tough luck, we're taking off.
I'm sure stuff like that happens a lot, just first time I've seen it.

I was flying from Sarasota to Bangor Maine. I had a layover at jfk. When I arrived at jfk they announced Bangor airport was shutdown for bad weather. They wanted to put me on a new flight in the morning but it went to Detroit first then I had to switch flights. Another 10hrs of flying. I'm an experienced flyer I got on a flight to Boston instead (same airline) they sent my luggage to Detroit anyhow, even though they knew I took the Boston flight and I specifically asked about my luggage. They assured it me it was no problem. I told them I was driving to Maine and to forward my luggage there. Figuring I would get next day.
Nope it never showed up. I was there 4 days and flew home to Sarasota. 2 weeks later Bangor airport calls me to tell me they got my luggage. Oh I should mention I already called the delta on the diamond customer line (I fly a lot) told them to send my luggage to Sarasota. 3 days later I got my luggage back. It was one of the most moronic displays of incompetence I have ever witnessed. I can understand somebody in that chain making a mistake but not everyone in that chain.
BTW it reminds me of the first time I saw Jeff Jeffries

Coming back from New Orleans after Mardi Gras with my wife, daughter and one of her girlfriends we had to spend the night in Charlotte because our flight was late making it's connection. Next morning we were all subject to carry on bag searches because of all the Mardi Gras beads we were carrying back. Guess they never see them in North Carolina.
And for the record I easily scored the most beads. Must be all that gray chest hair. Who knew
