"We were listening to trump"

I don’t see anything that Trump said that would
Trigger an attack.
Ever consider if any of the members here that you disagree with when it comes to almost anything Trump, what they would comment about if their favorite president behaved in the way Trump has? I can honestly tell you that I'd dump my guy or gal long ago, let alone what Trump did on Jan 6. There's no way in hell could I ever try to defend anyone after one year in office who acted like Trump.

Inciting a riot is illegal. And is not protected speech under the first amendment.

(a) A riot in the District of Columbia is a public disturbance involving an assemblage of 5 or more persons which by tumultuous and violent conduct or the threat thereof creates grave danger of damage or injury to property or persons.

(b) Whoever willfully engages in a riot in the District of Columbia shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than 180 days or a fine of not more than the amount set forth in § 22-3571.01, or both.

(c) Whoever willfully incites or urges other persons to engage in a riot shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than 180 days or a fine of not more than the amount set forth in § 22-3571.01, or both.

(d) If in the course and as a result of a riot a person suffers serious bodily harm or there is property damage in excess of $5,000, every person who willfully incited or urged others to engage in the riot shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than 10 years or a fine of not more than the amount set forth in § 22-3571.01, or both.

The people that rioted.. are saying that they did it at the behest of Trump.

Now.. where would they get that idea? Hmmm....

Seriously man.. the TDS is strong in you.

Second, educated yourself on the definition of Trump Derangement Syndrome"

Trump derangement syndrome (TDS) is a pejorative term usually for criticism or negative reactions to United States President Donald Trump that are perceived to be irrational, and have little regard towards Trump's actual policy positions, or actions undertaken by his administration.

Second “the devil made me do it” is an old gagline Flip Wilson used; “Trump told is to do it” is less believable.

In fact there were many thousands of Republicans there, which the media refused to photograph who apparently got the message. This having to repeat a message several times before the listener understands seems to be essential for the leftists. Most Republicans just went home.
Yah suuuurre they did...
They sat and listened to trump for over an hour inciting them to violence but halfway through his rant he mentioned "peaceful protest" once.

And all these people who came from all over. Who paid for hotel rooms. Meals, plane tickets, baseball bats and bear spray just said " well sucks if we gotta be peaceful we will just go pack and go home"...
Jesus where do you people get this shit...

If a president, especially one that is worshiped by a particular citizen, wants that citizen to march on a Capitol Building after words of "fight" and "combat" are also used by previous speakers that are either family members of the president or personal lawyer of the president - and that citizen marches on and inside said Capitol Building which is trespass not to mention crashing on Congress in session - an invasion in which would be illegal. Would that same president that you admired convince you to march on a Capitol Building in the furry of the moment?
Nonsense - politicians have used combative analogis for ever. Obama once talked about taking guns to a knife fight with Republicans. Eric Holder talked about hitting GOP low.

We have already discussed your lack of understanding of metaphors. Obama did not suggest taking a gun to fight Republicans with knives. It is an expression commonly understood by English speakers, and those who have completed sixth grade.

As they are when politicians tell their supporters to “fight”, That’s ALSO an expression commonly understood by English Speakers. Or do you thing cheerleaders chanting “Go, fight, win” to the teams want a fist fight to break out. Ever think of repeating sixth grade. It may help.

Not me misunderstanding metaphors.

I remember you taking this great care during the summer riots to separate people..

Oh no you didnt.

What did Trump say on 1/6/2001 that is impeachable?

Simple question you can’t answer !
😂

I would hate to see you try to answer a tough question.

You obviously missed Lord of the Rings, not to mention St. Crispin's Day Speech. The leader gathers his minions to exhort them to bravery to fight for the cause. Trump loved every minute of it. I don't think he'd deny it, but you do. LOL

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jan/16/us-capitol-rioters-donald-trump-pardons. Capital rioters complained today that they do not deserve prison because "they were only listening to the president". So they are asking for presidential pardons. These felons believe they were only exhibiting their patriotism. I..... I......I...... Yeah.....
If they are that dumb they should never be let out of prison.... They were not born yesterday, they knew it was wrong to do what they did, and they did it anyway... We've seen and had enough of these people doing stuff and then trying to claim innocent.
They sound like someone saying if Trump told them to rub their backside down with Ky jelly and bend over the stump, they'd do it in a heartbeat, and when they were shown a picture of him plundering them, they'd say... they only did it because he told them to.

by now you should have heard it for yourself. Geez!!!

So, does this mean that they don't make any statements to support their claim that trump told them to break in and attack? I really am curious where they got that impression from. Even of those that went to the rally, only a small percentage of those participated in the riot. So, it certainly wasn't obvious to many...

Do you believe everything these nuts say, or just when they say trump told em to do it?⁴

They also dont understand how context and totality of circumstances are related.

Their overly simplistic views are one of the things that leads to their frequent failures...of understanding, voting, susceptibility to suggestion, etc. The Donald is without question a skilled con man.

@Mr Person

As a lawyer, how much weight can be attached to Trump supporters hearing “the message” from on high?

From President Trump's speech January 6th.
For some strange reason they forget this part of the speech?

"We’re going walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators, and congressmen and women.

We love you. We love you. We love you. We love you. We love you. We love you. We love you. We love you.

I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."

Very little to zero.

I'm stopping shy of saying absolutely zero, since I've found that you can be surprised now and then. I do appeals, and so I tend to know certain things in great depth, but other things in a lot less. The trick is knowing when to see something that might be a problem, then being good at figuring out whether or not it was (aka, whether or not it is a basis for appealing a conviction).

I've never had occasion to look for an affirmative "just following orders" defense, and this wouldn't even quite be that. It would be "I heard a politician speak and he told me to fight, so, I went and committed these crimes".

On the international scene, Nuremburg said "get stuffed" to the that defense as an argument for innocence. Something like it was used in Malvo's defense, but that was insanity. It wasn't simply just following orders. I vaguely recall cases I'd read while researching other issues, and as far as I can recall the defendants in them did not argue at trial "I was following orders, so it's not a crime, acquit". The "just following orders" was always aimed at some element of one of the charges faced. ie, intent. Or in Malvo's case, insanity. But it was only a part of that defense, not the defense.

So I'm leaving open the possibility that there is something I"m not aware of because I never had occasion to look, but no, I don't think they can get away with saying they were just doing what Trump told them to do, so it's cool.

But I said something’s wrong here, something is really wrong, can have happened.
And we fight. We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.
Our exciting adventures and boldest endeavors have not yet begun.
My fellow Americans, for our movement, for our children, and for our beloved country.
And I say this despite all that’s happened. The best is yet to come.
So we’re going to, we’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. I love Pennsylvania Avenue. And we’re going to the Capitol, and we’re going to try and give.
The Democrats are hopeless, they never vote for anything. Not even one vote. But we’re going to try and give our Republicans, the weak ones because the strong ones don’t need any of our help. We’re going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country.

Now, I can locate my quote in his speech. It's how he ended. Your quote is buried in a morass of whining complaints about how he has been wronged, and the stupid faithful need to change things for him. Did you really read that speech and think it was a kumbaya moment?
Can you find his ONE use of the word peaceful?

Trump Derangement Syndrome.. is where Trumpers.. will believe anything and everything that Trump says.
Well..first.. there is no need for "exact words"... in order to be convicted of inciting a riot.
You don;t have to spell out.. "go hurt that person".. to be convicted of inciting a riot.
You can say... "you need to stop them... they need to be punished.. you have to be strong.. etc"...and then point them in the direction.
Its called the Brandenburg test.
So.. trump... incited a riot by purposely spreading false information that the election was stolen from him. That there was election fraud and that the election had been taken from him. He did this for more than a month. So he purposely fired up his supporters with lies.
then he told them to meet at a specific time.. Jan 6 where they would be "wild".
Then he met them at January 6 (when the congress met to certify the election) where he spent more than an hour repeated the wild baseless claims about the election and then blaming not only the democrats BUT the "weak republicans" including mike pence. He told them that they needed to STOP THE STEAL... and the steal that he wanted stopped was happening at the capital building. He told the people that they needed take back america. "you'll never take back america with weakness.. you will have to SHOW STRENGTH and be strong." "When you catch people in a fraud..YOU ARE ALLOWED TO GO BY DIFFERENT RULES".

We will never give up. We will never concede. It doesn’t happen. You don’t concede when there’s theft involved. Our country has had enough. We will not take it anymore, and that is what this is all about. And to use a favorite term that all of you people really came up with, we will stop the steal.

“You will have an illegitimate president. That is what you will have, and we can’t let that happen. These are the facts that you won’t hear from the fake news media. It’s all part of the suppression effort. They don’t want to talk about it. They don’t want to talk about it. …
“We fight like hell, and if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.
Now it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy. And after this, we’re going to walk down, and I’ll be there with you. … We are going to the Capitol, and we are going to try and give — the Democrats are hopeless, they are never voting for anything, not even one vote, but we are going to try — give our Republicans, the weak ones, because the strong ones don’t need any of our help, we’re try — going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country.”

And the result... ? Was that people ran down to the capital building and they showed strength by breaking down doors and pushing past the capital officers. .. they fought like hell.. (killing a police officer).. and they stopped the "steal",,, if only for a few hours.

The facts are clear.. whether you want to believe them or not.

Trump occasionally interjecting remarks about peaceful protest mean NOTHING if that is not the consistent overwhelming message. His overwhelming message essentally was that the election was stolen....stop it!!!
You rile up a crowd and expect they will listent to the occasional reasonable statement?
Why should any Republican not say the election was dishonest? Does their first amendment rights not apply?

The great majority of the crowd were peaceful, as Trump requested, and just went home. Those who caused the trouble would not have listened anyway.

"our exciting adventures and boldest endeavors have not yet begun." It takes a special kind of stupid to believe Donald Trump Jr. is just like a high school cheerleader, and his Dad just wants everyone to be peaceful. I don't know that kind of stupid gets into sixth grade.

Nonsense - politicians have used combative analogis for ever. Obama once talked about taking guns to a knife fight with Republicans. Eric Holder talked about hitting GOP low.

Both sayings are in common usage and have well known meanings which have nothing to do with their literal meaning. This is so pathetic.
